    • Love ya , just keep going Paula I remember a dish that you did. I think it was on HSN. It was a sliced steak dinner like maybe it was it had peppers and stuff in it and the steak was sliced or I don’t know what kind of meat it was but that would be wonderful to learn how to make that.

  • Their are so many cooks or chefs today, but Paula Deen was my first and only love.❤ Then at the age of 49 I found out I had cancer, went thru the whole bit, and Paula was always their for me to watch on tv even at my lowest moments. Then my boyfriend , husband, now found out Paula and her family was at Tunica. We ate at her restaurant and got to see her and her beautiful family at one of the shows in the casino. My dream of seeing her in person had come true! I never miss a time when visiting Pigeon Forge and Gatlingburg, Tennessee to go to PAULA DEENS. My favorite lady of all time, PAULA DEEN.❤

  • This episode reminded me of my grandad’s homemade rolls which he made every Sunday after church. Funny how the smell of dough rising takes me back to 50 years ago.

    • My aunt used to make the best yeast rolls and they were light as a feather. I have her recipe and I have been trying to make them but they sure are not like hers. She would make them for reunions and if you did not try to get in line at first they were all gone. My mother made them and they were good. I use bread flour and the jar yeast when I make them but they are ok. I use my KitchenAid mixer and it really makes them so good, at least they do rise. I pinch a little off and let them rise and do not make the entire recipe at one time. They are so good with butter even though I do not need a yeast roll. I am going to make some for Easter to eat ham with next week. The holidays are kinda hard without our parents and our relatives that meant so much to us.

    • Oh the smell of food can do that. My mom used to make the most delicious yeast rolls. The smell would drive me crazy, and they were so cute too. She'd get 3 little balls of dough and put them in muffin tins. Each one came out kind of like a flower. I've NEVER found a roll that tastes as good. Wish I had gotten her recipe.

  • Thank you for letting us watch you cook these iconic recipes. I grew up in the South (in Georgia :) ) but I my parents are from both coasts. (California and Maryland) So, while I love that good down home Southern cooking, it's really something I had to pick up from my fellow congregation members. I just love watching this and learning all those tricks you share. I live in Alabama now and they use an expression I had not heard until I moved her. When the food is really good they compliment the cook by saying, "Mmmmmm... You put your foot in it!" Well, Paula, you put your foot in this! Thank you so much! May I ask, what oil did you use to fry with? And why did you leave the thermometer in the whole time? I have learned that the oil people use when frying is part of the recipe so I understand if you don't want to share it. And thank you for sharing how to season cast iron. Everybody has a recipe for that too. LOL But what a great way you have of doing it! Thank you again!!

  • I have my mother's cast iron frying pan and I need to season it sooooo BAD. I have tried to season it, but it gets sticky and then it is in worse shape than it was before. I loved this video. There is nothing better than good old fried chicken. I go to so much to make mine. Friday, salt water brine. Saturday, good old fashioned thick buttermilk. Sunday, roll it in self rising flour and fry it in deep fat, and it is really good. I am going to have to try your recipe for something different. I enjoy your videos so much.

  • As a mama of 4 and the house everyone comes to… I am so full of love for my family, but I can get weary of being in the kitchen. This helps me keep perspective and keep churning out the love for my babies and their babies in the future. Thanks for inspiring me to keep going (I won’t be empty nest til 60🤣).

  • Paula you send me back to being in my Grandmothers kitchen she made the best fried chicken oh heck everything thing she made was fit for a King or Queen😉unfortunately she passed away my summer going unto my freshmen year in high school she so dearly missed she was honestly the glue that held our family together. My Grandmother had nine children and every Sunday was the best meal of the week at Grandmothers house surrounded by so many Aunties and Uncles and so so many cousins we were more like brothers and sisters. I wish someone would have written down her recipes however she never measured an ingredient in her life but somehow it was always was consistently good. We tried to duplicate her recipes with the same ingredients however the amount of Love she put into each and every dish was immeasurable close but never ever the same I will be 70 yrs. young come August. And she will always be dearly missed until the day we meet again .....I have been a fan of yours from day one love you and your family more than you will ever know...Many blessings to you and all of your loved ones💗🙏🏻✨💗🙏🏻✨

  • Nothing can compare to cooking with cast iron. Cast iron gives food soul and it makes us happy. The best memories with cast iron cooking is my mama’s fried pork loins, corn bread, my grandmother’s corned beef hash, potato cakes and German sausage. My best memory of all, was my mama and I getting together to make my 12th birthday dessert in the cast iron, strawberry rhubarb crumble.
