This video documents all the new feature additions to Euclidean 1.08 which will be released in the next few days.
We finally included the PolyTempo mode that David Collett documented in his paper on Euclidean. In addition we added new repeat and glitch modes, walking melodies, inverted melodies, random accented notes, random gate, and a new graphical chase mode.
This is a preview of the soon to be released Euclidean v1.08. It will be released this coming week.
Hi Paul, this new update is blowing my mind! Thank you and David, you guys are awesome!
We very much appreciate your positive feedback.
Brilliant, Paul🎉
Already excellent app became more powerful. Paul, thank you so much. 👏👍
Genius. Well done Paul & David. The ‘A’ team. Cheers. Lee
Thank you thank you thank you
Fantastic Updates
…simply: Wow! Unique…
Delia would be amazed
Outstanding Paul! The fun factor has been greatly increased.. thank you.. 🙏
Looking great Paul!
Awesome, you just made my favourite sequencer even better
Thanks for the tutorial - looking forward to using these new features. 👍🏼
I picked up the sequencer at the perfect time it seems… 4pockets has officially become one of my favourite iOS music app developers… Amazing work!!!
Thanks mate, that means a great deal that people appreciate the updates so much.
@@PaultheMusicMan I have worked in the arts over two decades and have only recently transitioned to ios music production... Your apps have all been amazing and to have this channel to deeply explain all of the features makes me a devout consumer... Thanks again... Looking forward to what you do next...
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks a lot. Really appreciate your effort. I'll end up using all your marvellous apps.
Looks fantastic. Can't wait to try it out when it's available.
Great update, can’t wait to give it a go. Thanks Paul 🍻
Thanks for all your effort. I just picked this up and it been fun
Thanks man, glad you liked it 😉
@PaultheMusicMan Massive fan of your works dear Paul, I was wondering by any chance is there any giveaway for this gem? ❤❤❤❤lots of love. Regards. I sincerely and deeply pray that your health is in optimum condition, sometimes ago I got to know that you’ve become very sick. May that event never ever take place. I’m giving my 20 years to you, as you’ve a lot to do, to the community. I’m very happy to see you back in action.
Any chance of a Vst port?
This App is a MoNsTeR
Hello paul is the 1.08 version is availbable and where? nice job !
The current version is 1.09 and available on the Apple App Store. This is an iOS app that should also work on M1 Macs.
Another question. I’ve been learning the Euclidean sequencer today. I got it particularly fit the polyrhythm function visualisation within a daw since it’s a great way to visualise rhythm, especially when coupled with sounds from a daws. Is there a way to have each band (a b c and d) play a constant note instead of a chord? Because the chords stop the listener from distinguishing between the different rhythms taking place as opposed to a consistent note.
No, you can't play a continuous note, but set the Steps to the length you want a note, then set the Events to 1 and turn up the gate and the single note will sound for a complete revolution.
@@PaultheMusicMan interesting, thanks for the quick response. I’m not looking for a note for the entire revolution but instead to heave the same note play each time the beat tone plays. Eg 4/4 would be 4 instances of the same note per revolution instead of a combination of different notes within a chord as it currently is. Is this possible? If not in the next update would you be able to add a not option in addition to the current chord option within the menu?
@@gunterstunter I'm struggling to understand exactly what you are doing, but if both Steps and Events are set to 4, the band speed to 1x and global speed to 1x the specified Note/Velocity will sound every beat (with notes removed from editor). Are you attempting to use MIDI input to change the notes in the editor? If you just add a single note to the editor for Band A, it will be treated as a single note bass for instance which moves to the nearest note when chords are played. If you just want a single drone note, remove all editor notes and set the Note knob for that band.
Hi Paul, I would like to ask a question about this amazing app, is there a way to actually hear the notes play as you add them to the piano roll?
No, not currently but I can see how that could be useful. Since Progressions runs small loops I usually lay notes and wait for the sequence to loop, then adjust accordingly. I will consider adding this in a future upgrade.
Can sequences in layers have some more interesting rhythm with various length of individual steps (and possibly randomized, too) or all steps have always the same size as seen in points placement in circles? And the second question - could you please mention the link to Mr. Collett paper?
Yes of course, each band can have differing lengths, and you can have as many steps as you like. The link to David's paper is in the help manual. As far as I am concerned there is pretty much nothing that other Euclidean sequencers can do that are not possible on this app.
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks for the answer. It's clear about different number of steps, speed and direction of rotation. My question was about the size, or length, rhythmic value of individual steps as I see their placement on the circle (which you call band?) is in regular distances. So we have always a regular minimalistic ostinato repetition of all notes as a result. Is is possible to set irregular placement, thus to get irregular rhythms where steps have different size, or some of them are even omitted? That would be less boring result. Concerning the sounds, is this just a sequencer which can control any software (or through MIDI also external hardware) synths or that one you used here is somehow fixed part of it?
@@danielforro4200 We are in PolyMeter and PolyTempo modes in this video, but pure Euclidean mode allows is to have irregular spaced steps. Ther are 4 modes altogether, and these notes can be turned ON/OFF at will. The whole idea of this program is to create sequences that output 4 channels of MIDI. These sequences can be joined to create a fill song if you wish. Please see all of my videos on this subject, this is a product that has evolved and so I'm only showing new additions here.
@@PaultheMusicMan Thank you very much!
Is this a VST or Ableton Bollocks ??? Would be a good idea if you mentioned it at some point in the video
This is iOS, not VST or Ableton bollocks! lol
@@PaultheMusicMan😭😭 please make VST3
How do you connect this App to Korg Gadget? I am lost, it doesnt work with AUM, or i have no clue what i am doing
The app was designed to work with AUM, so I know it works just fine under this app as you can see in my videos. Please watch all my videos and you will see how it works, and how it is connected. I can't tell you how to use it with Korh Gadget as I don't own it and not sure it is even possible to load external AUv3's with it.
I can't get the song sequencer to work in Euclidean. I enter the patterns I want it to play and it just plays the pattern I have manually selected without moving on to the next. Is it me or is it a bug? I'm in Song mode as the manual stipulates. Any ideas anyone? I can't find any KZhead vids where anyone has used the Song Sequencer. EDIT: ISN'T A BUG. SEE REPLIES FOR SOLUTIONS.
As long as you have SONG enabled, and possibly Host Sync if running under another app, pressing play in the host transport should work so long as the song chain has entries. Did you resolve this issue?
@@PaultheMusicMan Thanks for replying. I figured it out eventually. The song sequencer only works if the events on a band have notes in the note editor. Also for drum patterns the notes in the note editor must match the midi CC of the drum part or else another drum part will be triggered or nothing will be triggered. I know you know this but I've included the solution for anyone else who didn't know what they were doing. 🙂
Love the app! Had it for a couple of hours. I found a bug, how do I report it?
You can email me at 'info at 4pockets dot com' and I will take a look.
ok - looks very interesting - any more news on this?
What kind of news? My apologies if you asked me about something previously!
Is this available for logic ?
I've been told it does work in Logic on the Mac, but not tested it myself.
@@PaultheMusicMan Did you not code it?
@@cd78 Yes, but I designed it for iOS not for the Mac as I assumed you mean Logic on the Mac. I wouldn't advise trying to use it inside Logic for iPad as it is not really geared up for MIDI routing like AUM and some other iOS apps.
It seems that this version is only for iphone and ipad. Will it be available for macbook, anyone?
It may well work on the M1 Mac, but I've not tested it myself. It will not work on the old Intel Macs for sure.
Where can I get this
This is an iOS app that is available in the App Store.
Hi, excellent work - especially the graphics. I do beg to differ about covering every single possibility (in Euclidean) though - there are indeed a few more steps ... kzhead.info/sun/dteqg8lriXx6hXk/bejne.html
Very interesting... thanks for the link!
I bought this ages ago - how do I get this update? I go to the site and it's just the original?
how where?
