  • Simon going on about how crazy it is to allege outside factors when he's sat opposite Mike Dean on his own Podcast for Mike Dean to openly tell him that when he was in VAR he knowingly went along with incorrect on-field decisions to save face with his mates. I mean if that isn't an outside factor influencing decisions I don't know what is. It's nauseating sitting here having to listen to him try to continue with this party line bullshit to defend this any longer and insult all of our intelligence.

By your logic if literally every single time a referee was involved with a team let's say Newcastle as the main referee or the VAR official they got a stonewall decision 100% wrong there would never come a point even if it occurred 50, 100, 150 times over many years where you could even allege corruption or bias? It doesn't matter to you how many times they got decisions wrong or the severity of the decisions if lets say every single one was an instance where the referee gave a handball when the ball never even touched the player. Keith Hackett the former head of the pgmol said they used to not allow refs to officiate games involving the club they support and games in which a conflict of interest might appear ie a relegation rival. That rule has now changed and clubs can not ask for referees or var to be changed so Clattenberg has clearly spoke of Forest concerns to Webb but never went as far to demand a change in the hope something like these shocking mistakes could happen.

  • Jim, at least twice in a few minutes, regurgitated the line about Forest not asking for what they are not allowed to ask for, an excuse that was fed to them (and other journalists) by the PGMOL. The second time he did it was immediately after the caller told him Forest cannot ask for an official to be removed, and thus claiming it as proof Forest had no issue with Atwell is BS. All audio communication in regards to critical VAR decisions should be released in a timely manner after the game. In Rugby, you even hear the discussion between video ref and on-field officials as they work together to reach a decision. Has Vince McMahon covertly launched the XPL?

    @mccoomer@mccoomer26 күн бұрын

  • Obtuse misdirection by Mr. Jordan. Forest did not say corruption. Forest wanted Pigmole to recognise before the game was played that by appointing Attwell there was the distinct possibility that his integrity might later be questioned should he go on to make mistakes as the VAR official as he is a Luton Town Football Club supporter. It is interesting to note that he only made mistakes that were detrimental to Forest and not also to Everton. That is an awkward fact for Attwell, Pigmole, The PL, the FA, Sky and other legacy corporate media and for Simon to contemplate. The other issue being played out here by the authoritarians is the challenge to the continuation of their power over the people. That Forest had the audacity to bypass legacy media by using an independent channel to communicate its message, X, is a form of 'heresy' for which Forest must be severely punished.

    • Someone's going to have to remind me of my rights again. I thought I was (in theory) a free human being who is allowed to think, say, believe and scrutinize whatever I wish. All these new thought crime laws have me confused. Simon is telling me I don't the right to allege anything. Under what law? And you are telling me that I don't have the right to make a demand. Again, what law are you referring to when telling me what my rights are. I can demand whatever I like, that is my right, and it is another person's right to reject my demand if they feel they have reason to. Can everyone stop trying to reduce all of my natural human rights please.

NFFC raised the issue, to ask the question, do you think its appropriate he's on VAR? They didn't ask him to be removed. That's not the same as not thinking there's a problem. There IS a problem with that. Unconscious bias. It's not appropriate to have a Man U fan ref the cup final this year. Nor a Man C fan. What's so difficult to grasp?

  • "We know match officlals do not allow outside factors to influence descions" = rewards for making certain choices, either bribes or promises of promotion etc. Forest are saying they are not suggesting those are happening. It's more the unconscious bias that comes from being a fan of a club. As a forest fan I see more fouls for us and my Leicester fan mate see's much less. And neither of us think we are being bias when making the call. This is why refs need to declare who they are fans of or affiliated with, otherwise you end up with Villa fans reffing Villa games, reffing direct local rivals like birmingham, or a Villa fan reffing a Spurs game as they are both fighting for 4th. Why put the ref in that position where they WILL have an unconscious bias, and need to fight against their natural instincts.

    • Mike Dean helping his mate on the pitch and in doing so disregarding the integrity of the rules of the game is not incompetence. Icompetence is accidental, negligent perhaps but accidental. What Mike Dean did there was not an accident, he was fully conscious of his decision and it leans much, much closer to a form of corruption than mere incompetence. And we have no reason to assume that the Mike Dean example was an isolated incident, in fact, it appears to be par for the course. Seems like VAR officials are also scared to challenge the onfield decisions of high status refs such as Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor. Some may argue corruption is too strong a word but these examples are certainly not down to incompetence. I think it's fair to say that there is a corruption in the decision making process of these officials.

      @FreshAlchemy@FreshAlchemy26 күн бұрын
  • Simon, so its ok to allege lack of competency but not bias. Funnily that is exactly what Arteta and Arsenal did when they were cheated at Newcastle and you blasted them then. • Bonkers statement from Forest to drag Luton into this. If they'd been playing anybody else it might make some sense but Everton still have to go to the Kenny so a draw or Forest win on Sunday is what all Hatters wanted. An Everton win was the last thing we needed. Why has nobody mentioned this in the comments? As for bad officiating every club's fans complain after every game about the bad decisions, sometimes even after they've won.

    • @@eddiepicardo2283 before Sunday's game Luton were 1 point behind Forest and 2 behind Everton. If, and it's a big if, we beat Everton at the Kenny that would have put us a point ahead of them and then just have to match their results to survive ( that's assuming they lose their game in hand against Liverpool). We've played Forest twice already so now because of Everton's win we could win our last 4 games and still go down. So an Everton win vs Forest was the worst possible outcome for us.

  • Yes, the comments made by Forest were poor to say the least. But the bigger picture is now being dominated by that rather than those decisions made by a professional referee. A referee who had multiple screens and and angles. He can quickly pause a game and have a look. The worrying thing is that he has had a look and not seen anything us the viewer / football have seen. I have seen some bad ones in Scotland this season but the EPL is reaching different levels of incompetency. This aide was brought in so that the Sheffield Utd relegation scenario etc never happened again, but….

  • The Mike Dean example when he was in the VAR room and disregarded the rules of the game and undermined the integrity of the match in order to "help" his "mate" out on the pitch is not incompetence, that was NOT accidental. He was completely conscious of what he was doing, and if we think that was an isolated incident, then we're kidding ourselves. In fact, such incidents appear to be par for the course. There are different forms of corruption and I think it's fair to say that there was corruption in the decision making process in the Mike Dean example and there's also a corruption of the decision making process of VAR officials who are scared to challenge the onfield decisions of big name referees such as Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor.
