    • They look like one cause they have long tail feathers. Non-avian dinosaurs had long fleshy tails. birds don't, but have only tail feathers, if those feathers are long, they can look like their ancestors who still had actual long tails. 😊

    • @@KateeAngel I’m sure he will be scarfing lizards in no time. It’s just amusing to see a pile of mealworms and the fledgling shakes his feathers to get mom to pop them in his beak. I guess their brains mature at a certain rate and he is still stuck in nestling mode. Very adorable.

    • I've seen plenty of different bird fledgling act this way. It's part of the weaning off process. The mom is teaching them how to hunt, but little by little she will share less and less. Soon mom stops assisting the baby altogether. It's kinda cute and sad watching a fully grown-looking bird chase the adults around begging, but they learn REAL quick.

  • I love roadrunners. We used to see them in southern california running everywhere, mouths full of large lizards or rodents. Wonderful pest controllers, beautiful birds . Sadly as more houses were built and drought set in their numbers have dwindled. It is very sad, we don't see the roadrunner or the large lizards they preyed on hardly anymore at all.

It's really wonderful to witness a scene like this. Very rare, I must suppose. In fact, I have no idea how & where they rear chicks. Probably, chicks would be altricial. Fed by the parents would be an expected behavior, if so. Many thanks for uploading & recording without disturbing them at all!
