🔺 Our Mission 🔺
Founded in 1997 in Cedar City Utah, we are a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rescue and rehabilitation, wildlife and environmental education, and the development of the Cedar Canyon Nature Park.
Rescue, Rehabilitate and Release
The Southwest Wildlife Foundation of Utah (SWF) cares for more than 100 sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife annually. Restoring them to health and returning them to the wild is our primary goal, but for those that cannot be released due to disabilities, the Cedar Canyon Nature Park (CCNP) can provide them with a permanent home in a natural setting while enhancing our visitors educational experience at the park.
Informing, Educating and Inspiring
The SWF provides over 100 educational programs reaching over 30,000 people annually. We believe providing educational outreach programs to schools, scout groups and community events, with focus on children and families, will make the greatest impact in preserving our wildlife, the environment, our public lands and our resources for future generations to enjoy.
Martin Tyner
Since age twelve, with a bird on his arm, Martin has captivated audiences sharing his knowledge and experience of his wildlife friends.
At age nineteen, Martin was hired as curator of birds of prey at Busch Gardens, CA. He also worked in the movie and television industry training big cats, elephants, primates, sea mammals and raptors.
“One of my greatest childhood fantasies was the desire to create a personal friendship with a wild eagle. I found myself with a love and fascination for these powerful creatures.”
Martin Tyner is a federally licensed falconer, eagle falconer, wildlife rehabilitator, wildlife propagator, and wildlife and environmental educator.
He has been providing wildlife and environmental programs throughout the western United States, to schools, scouts and community groups for over fifty years.
“Grandpa believed in a very simple philosophy; that a person should get up every morning and do good. Doing good means that you do well for others and doing well means that you do good for yourself. There is nothing wrong with doing well, but Grandpa always believed in doing good.”
Martin's book, Healer of Angels, reflects back on his life: from a young boy terrified of birds to becoming the first man in North America licensed to train a wild golden eagle in the ancient art of falconry.
Through a heartwarming collection of true stories he describes his challenging transformation from a shy dyslexic teenager, to the founder and CEO of the Southwest Wildlife Foundation.

A roadrunner that got hit by a car... I actually do see the irony in that hehe :P Really beautiful animal BTW, good to see he fully recovered and is back to running roads again. Great job as usual from Martin. Just hope from now on he'll be a bit more careful out there!
I live in Arizona, and we have bird feeders in our backyard, that draws Cardinals, Cactus Wrens, 3 different kinds of woodpeckers, Thrashers, Sparrows, Finches, Mockingbirds, Quail, and many more etc. But over the past month, we have 1 or multiple roadrunners knocking on our sliding glass door as if they wanna come into our house. One was knocking on the glass door, while a 2nd one was laying flat, incognito in our rocks in backyard. I would have never noticed him/her if they didnt lift their head up. Was the most incredible thing Ive ever seen. Especially the one knocking on our sliding glass door. But then, we watched, stunned in amazement how the camouflage roadrunner leaped into the air and snatched a sparrow out of midair, all the while we had a large squirrel on top of our quail block eating, and the other roadrunner still at our door... Was like a scene out of winnie the pooh. Absolutely amazing
Man Roadrunners really do look like modern day raptors straight out of the Mesozoic
I saw a video of two roadrunners mating, and at first I thought it was some AI-modified video of some actual birds made to look more like dinosaurs. Although all birds are close relatives of the dromaeosaurs ("raptors"), some of the morphological features that we think look similar are unfortunately superficial and coincidental. For instance, the dromaeosaurs had a long, bony tail, whereas almost all of the roadrunner's apparent tail length is just feathers. The similar head shape is also somewhat of a coincidence since the dromaeosaurs would have had a snout and not a beak as birds do.
...because they ARE descendants of raptors...! 😉😁😱
@@sciencecompliance235 I like to see it a bit like convergent evolution! maybe just adaptations a bit different, like it has long feathers for balance instead of a bony tail for a more lightweight body. quite frankly I am really happy that a bird with proportions and silhouette so similar to theropods evolved at all, considering most other ground dwelling birds have wildly different body plans (ostrich, kiwi, cassowary etc.)
@@Voxen712 roadrunners can fly
They really do!
Anyone hear Meep! Meep! as he ran off? Lol. First time seeing one in real life. So pretty! Love his crest.
Very pretty
Absolutely 🤗
And the thud of a coyote in the distance...
They don't Meep they go Whoot Whoot
So cool I'm from AZ we see them a lot out here - they do get away from cars crossing the road - they tend to check you out when they are around - very curious but distant. Very cool birds!
I’ve never seen a real roadrunner. Just the cartoon one 🥰
He’s at the right place
Little different....
me too
he cool!
I confess; being on the east coast, I'd never seen a road runner before - unless you count Wil E Coyote's nemesis. I'm glad you were able to revive this little fellow.
They are a treat to see!
I always see one at the Del Taco in our town in Nevada.
I hadn't either until I moved into my home with a small wild patch behind my back yard. Now I see them all of the time in my back yard. Although they don't exactly look like MBeep-Beep, it's a good caricature so with just that, the first time I saw one, and saw it walking along the top of my fence, I knew exactly what it was!
That’s exactly what I thought, no roadrunner in Florida 😂
Me either and I was saying Beep Beep when he was releasing the gorgeous little thing. The only road runner I was ever familiar with was from the cartoon. They are smaller than I thought they were. But I still keep saying "Beep Beep."
This right here restores my faith in humanity, thank you so much Enoch for all you do. If only we had more human critters just like you in the world.
Half a century volunteering to rescue wildlife.. You have to be a genuinely good person, bless this man
Its obvious this gentleman loves and cares for animals very much. Thanks for what you do.
Great outcome. Thanks to all for saving this road runner.
This man has the kindest, purest soul. God bless him ❤️
Thank you for your kind words
You beautiful humans. So much love to you all.
Thank you Jacob! A whole lot of people help us help critters!
50 years of volunterring -- WOW, people like you makes me feel so much better about people. Thank you for working so hard for animals all those year!!!! PS -- luv that collage of birds on the back of your shirt!
Thank you for rehabilitating this cute little guy, so kind of you to do this for such a long time… they have beautiful feathers.
We have two Roadrunners that come by our house every day. They drink from the birdbath and we give them some Mealworms, the same things chickens like.
I live in Oklahoma and we love our roadrunners. They have work to do and we are wholeheartedly in support of it.
we have them here in kansas as well. always great to see them running around cleaning up mice, bugs, and sadly some lizards.
Iv never seen a road runner they are so cute.
Agreed!
Meep Meep! Call ACME. "Hi baby"....Oh no every time he says that he grabs me.
Very stressed little runner...
First time in my life to see a real Roadrunner🏎, so cute and ⏩fast🏁!
That is so awesome , I’ve never seen a road runner, they are beautiful. I’m so happy you were able to help him. Thank you for sharing 😊
Thanks WD, we hope this Road Runner is doing well!
They are stunning to witness when it happens. I was a traveling service man for Sears in the early 2000s in southern Missouri, into Arkansas and occasionally, a road runner would dart across the back highways in front of me - it was surprising and felt like a look back into nearly prehistoric eras. They are quite amazing.
These little guys are delightful. So much personality.
Back before the 70’s my grandparents on my fathers side used “Roadrunner” as an CB radio name while traveling from CA to ID.
They have a cool name
Thank you, Mark & all that you save !!!! 🙏❤️
Fifty years of hard volunteer work. That's amazing.
He’s a cutie!
Agreed!
I love everyone in this video! I know this is an older one, but I hope everyone is still out there and doing great. Our Heavenly Father is much pleased, of that I can well assure you! Hugs to all from Central Mexico 🤗🇲🇽
Thank you very much, sir. You do god's work! 💗
What a beautiful spot for him. Hopefully he'll be safe.
We hope so too!
This was amazing!!! I love birds! I live in Florida we have so many different species of birds 🐦. I have 2 dinobirds.... Parakeets. I volunteer at the sanctuary down the road from here. 2 bald eagles. Male and female. Both can not fly. Couple of hawks. Owls. Cara Caras. Had a osprey at one point... very stressed bird those ospreys are. Vultures. And my favorite woodpeckers and of course Pelicans and that's just some of my pals! Always had a thing for birds. Even if I am originally a dog person 😁
Glad you enjoyed!
I watch from Florida too
Awwww get better Road Runner!
Healed as quickly as he runs...
I loved watching them out on the desert in California. So fast and beautiful. I was amazed every time I saw one because they just aren't that easy to spot.
They are a treat to see in the wild!
What a beautiful bird! With all the craziness in the world, this sure is a NICE place to visit...thank you!!
what a beautiful bird! i’ve never seen a roadrunner before. i didn’t know they had those amazing feathers, with the pretty spots and patterns. thank you, as always, for taking good care of him.
They are quite a sight!
thanks for saving the road runner!
МОЛОДЕЦ МУЖИК ✊✊👍👍👍👍👍
I've never seen a road runner before. Glad they could recover and that they recovered so well! May all road runners stay free, wild and safe out there in their natural habitats. Great release.
Thank you for your interest
Wow... A roadrunner. It's been such a long time since I seen one. That brings back memories. Lizard hunters.... Just like us when we were kids.
They are a treat to see!
I love those tail feathers! ❤
I really like roadrunners, there isn't another bird like that :-) I used to see them often, as a kid growing up in north central Texas... a fun sight!
Definitely a fun sight!
One of my favorite birds. 😍
Yeay awesome, thanks for helping. 🇳🇱🌬💞🌈🌞
We hope this critter is doing well!
bravo Martin
Kept waiting for the 'Meep meep!' as he was released, but I had the biggest grin watching him run off :D
I love road runners!
About fifteen years ago, we had a roadrunner on the roof of our home making mating calls. Later he flew down and got got with about 15-20 feet from him. He didn’t act scared of us. We lived in southwestern Missouri. They used to be plentiful there but haven’t seen one for years.
As others have said, I’ve never seen one that close. Sadly, where I have seen them is chased out of their habitat in the areas East of Phoenix where there’s lots of development going up and moving wild life away to fend elsewhere. Love seeing these guys in the wild. Beautiful bird. 👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️🙏🏽
Critter love! Our team just donated $100...I dare anyone who can, to match this!!!
Thank you for your support!
He is beautiful creature.
Bird looked bad when he came in, I'm glad you could help the Road Runner! I did not know they ate mice, I guess that's why they have to be fast.
Great people doing great things.
Thank you for your interest
Tough little dude Didn't even phase him Good job you two
Very tough
That was truly amazing. I love how fast Martin is catching the roadrunner. I thought it was kind of funny where he offered the mouse to the roadrunner and then bam he caught it and gave it the mouse. Great work!!! And what a treat I too had never seen a roadrunner like that. Thank you so much for what you and your wife do.
We're glad the road runner recovered so quickly!
Thank you for doing what you do, you're AMAZING
Beautiful animal.
امیدوارم همیشه موفق باشید
🤗Wowie, he is soooooooooooooo gorgeous🐦 and unique❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗❗
Agreed!
I love these people. I hope they go on for ever. I wished i knew they were there when i found a red tailed hawk by the side of the road. I do donate to them often.
Each one of them is a piece of your heart.......
We're glad this critter is back in the wild
Thank you for all that you do.

You are wonderful people!

I've never seen a road runner before, that was so very cool!!! Thanks!!
Agreed, very cool!
That was cool seeing a real road runner as I've only seen the cartoon one. They remind me of a hoopoe bird I saw in Spain. Love your videos and I learn alot from them. Penny 🇬🇧

They usually run to fast to catch a good glimpse of them. They are very beautiful all the speckled feathers and the crest on top of their head. A lot of detail that I haven't really seen before. Thank you for sharing and saving the baby too.

They are!
THANK YOU, GOD BLESS YOU
What a great release! I just love Road Runners but sadly we don't have any in my country. I loved to see him blast off! "Beep beep, I'm free!"
We hope this road runner is doing well back in the wild
I hope that you are mentoring someone to take over one day! You truly are a wonderful man!!
We are always working towards the future
Fascinating! I have never seen a roadrunner up close before!
They are a treat to see in the wild!
I once saw a road runner while my wife and I visited my parents in Arkansas. A small, long slender bird with a crested head stood on the road as we approached in our car at about 20 miles an hour. We were about a car length behind when the bird decided it was time to move. We slowed down and he/she kept ahead of us easily, didn’t seem to be panicked and stayed on the road for a while before going off into a field. My wife and I looked at each other in amazement: “Was that a _road runner?“_ it was. Arkansas has a lot of wildlife we don’t see in Ohio.
They are a treat to see!
They are so fascinating we had road runners where we lived in Texas I’ve actually held one give it a bath let it go on the property and we found out it was a female she made a nest close to the house a couple years that was a treat indeed❣️
Gotta love 'em!
BEEP BEEP! I'm in the uk never knew road runners were predators.. in the toons he always eats seed! What a beautiful bird...
They got the prettiest eyes
My Family is from Tucson Az, Sonora Mexico, Sonoran Desert 🏜️ is the Richest Desert in the World 🌍. I Love Road Runners and the Different names They have, All the Folklore Attached to These Remarkable Birds, The Wonderful Smell of the Sonoran Desert after Rainstorm. Great Video
