I'm a person who doesn't easily give someone the title of the best easily. But this monster is a real deal. He's very good at predicting situations and he's a great technician and a wall. Finding such a player, especially in the position of CB, is as difficult as finding a pearl in a grain of sand.
I'm guessing you have never seen Napoli's game full time. If you did, you would often find Spalletti nagging Kim to move the ball forward all the time, deal with the risk. It's as if he's not allowed to pass backwards. As for his strength, most people (likes of Cannavaro, Costacurta, Bruscolotti..etc) upheld Kim's split interventions, ability to read the game (anticipate the ball, break the channel movement, cover for his teammates' blunders).
김민재 대단한 이유 이번시즌 페널티 박스에서 반칙0 PK 한개도 없음 대단한 놈
He really does come alive inside the box. Penalty area maestro 👍
amazing video! loved it when you compared him to some of the greats. was possibly wondering if you can make a analysis video on them such as John terry, Jaap Stam etc etc
Great video analysis!
Great breakdown!
I would love to see you make videos about players that you analyzed then moved to a bigger club but didn’t perform very good. A “what went wrong” sort of video
Will consider this thanks for the suggestion
@@PythagorasinBootsSeconded on this. I enjoy your scouting videos and would put even more weight to them if you pointed out how scouting is an imprecise science and that you can be wrong about some things. I think it could help elevate your channel above others, more so than it is already
Like a dier… dier…. Dier…..
Great idea. Do this please @PyhtagorasinBoots
The mention of Phil Jones at the beginning gets me interested in how good he could have potentially been without those injuries, considering SAF compared him to Duncan Edwards and Capello compared him to Franco Baresi.
Another overrated ENG player
@@ericsohn5084 Another boring hipster
He had the heart of a lion tbh, those comparisons are fair
He was a great prospect, was pacy, strong in the tackle and in the air, and could also play right back and in the middle.
Like the guy said he had the heart of a lion, many times he was ready to die for United but it didn’t workout for him.
Very well tactical analyses
I’m waiting this video thanks
I was looking forward to this analysis and this was well worth the wait. Amazing work as always 👍
Amazing analysis as well Pythagoras. If you could go Gvardiol as well, that will be amazing
I am still glad that we still have a lot of young defenders in the game with potential. Pythagoras can you do some arsenal players like saka, martinelli and odegaard because of the great season they just had.
That "laborious" came out with a lot of pain that as a United fan can heavily relate to, hopefully we take the risk & it works out very well for us😅
Hi Pythagoras, thanks for uploading it here for free as well. I know you had uploaded it on your Patreon initially but players like Kim deserve the spotlight, Asian players in particular are often somewhat underrated.
Managed to change a few things from the Patreon version. Who knows, might still get taken down so share it far and wide to stay safe.
The only video where the tactically only united were mentioned 😂 love the vid Great stuff as always
Nice to see an unbiased view to make our own minds up
That's the aim.
I love your videos, can you please do an updated AWB analysis
Great vid. Can you do vids for Colwill and Nkunku?
Nkunku out soon
Would love a video of Saliba in light of the contract renewal. Very curious what you guys think of him
I totally enjoyed that video! Thanks man! So ehhm...ever thought of doing an Alexander Bah video? Maybe Rasmus Højlund? How about a Lil Phil Billing huh?? We hav...i mean, those danes sure got some cool players outta nowhere huh?? Hella biracial dudes on that squad boi. No more Gravesen or Grønkjær with us these days...and by "us" i ofc mean them....stay blessed dawg 🤙
Rasmus Højlund is within the next 2-4 players to be made & you're taking me back to the time machine with some of those names ☺
@@PythagorasinBoots Yooo...just the contrast over a couple of generations. From scrawny (tho very technically gifted) Grønkjær, who i could legitimately (No bullshit) out sprint, out jump and out agile before i turned 18. To these dudes who at least athletically can match up to ANYBODY! I always enjoy your work dude 🤩 Højlund is VERY promising. But i would kinda bet on Bah over Højlund, to reach his (slighty lower) Max potential! Dude has really only played the position for 3-4 seasons, and he is already a very consistent, pretty well rounded, impactfull starter, for a strong CL team. I'd say there is a solid chance of him being a top 10 RB, this time next year. Good vibes with this boi🤗
What you don't take into account is his speed, which allows him to cover large areas of the defense on his own. this gives the team a huge tactical advantage, as it allows the other defenders and midfielders can penetrate deep into the opponent's half. i think you've underestimated him too much, as this was the factor that made his biggest contribution to Napoli's scudetto. he should get 80+ at least.
His speed is mentioned on several occasions in the video especially the tactical board part. 80+ would be a gross overrating of is his ability
@@PythagorasinBoots While giving him less than de Ligt or Koundé is totally nuts.
@@mifjr9558 De Ligt is still only 23. Kounde rating is based on him being a RCB in a back 3 - as a CB in a back 4, he would not be rated higher than Kim.
@@PythagorasinBoots De Ligt is still 23, but Juve paid record fee for him and he did not live up to expectations at all, plus he's never been even close to level of this season Minjae. Kim is 26, but this was his second season in Europe, first in Napoli, Top 5 league in the world. How about taking this and some kind of adaptation into account? He played in China just two years ago, now he's best defender of Turkish league and Seria A back to back. But age doesn't really matter in his case, he's still novice in European football, he's still not at his peak whatsoever. He can improve and he will, but If you said De Ligt's potencial is 77, then Kim is def the 80. How can he be better at tackling than MinJae? Have you seen the stats? By the way there wasn't a single ball in the whole season Kim didn't go all out for as if his life depended on it, if that's not a true A+ mentality then I don't know what is. Plus I don't think you mentioned how good his defensive scanning, anticipation and the way he defends forwards' runs behind an offside line are. He's superb athletically and great at tackling yet what makes him really special compared to others is his inteligence and mentality that are just very rare and special.
I saw your points about dribbing reading score compared to Lisandro Martinez. Really, did you watch his peformance really?? jesus.
Very good video. Could you do one on Levi Colwill?
Added to the list
Omo my God the defender I do want man united to get..you my friend know ball
I love that you look past any hype, and assess the players objectively, both strengths and weaknesses. That’s why you’ve earned a new sub!
Thanks bud
Same ✔️
Coming from a neutral who just likes to watch both clubs (bayern and napoli), watching them almost week in and week out, it’s pretty clear and obvious that kim is a much better player than de ligt is and the influence that he has on the team is immense, delivering consistently and many times carrying napoli on his back when kvara and osimhen does not perform. Don’t get me wrong, de ligt is a beast and I personally love him, but almost every single aspect when it comes to the game Kim is better at imo and it’s by a large distance. So is age a big influence to the potentials that u set?
De Ligt is nowhere Kim at the moment. We don’t give current ratings. De Ligt has a lot of room to grow and he may never do it but based on his Ajax days - there is a huge ceiling there but needs to be exploited and not guaranteed. Current rating for De Ligt would be around 66. He needs to up his game big time.
@@PythagorasinBoots is this based on current performance or the analysis that you did of him 10 months ago?
@@PythagorasinBoots oh thats fair! love ur series and keep it up its really interesting🙌
@@PythagorasinBoots De Ligt became chief of defence at Bayern immediately. For sure he is the better player even right now.
@@botten418710 month ago will be nice but this guy’s analysis included Chinese league from 3years ago. 😂😂😂. Top of that, he is giving rate of age potential, he can’t predict what one player will perform at sustain age.
Love your videos mate. Just a heads up; it seems your closed captions are a bit off from what you're saying and what the captions say. Great stuff on this video though, followed you for about a year or so now :)
Thanks for the heads up. Not sure how to change it?
Seeing Dias top every single stat was funny. He's very good but Man City really puts him in a context where he can really shine stats wise.
Have to agree but he’s definitely had a good season this year
@@PythagorasinBoots considering he just won the treble and played a huge role in it, i think it's fair to say he's the best defender itw this season.
@@teikl3434he’s the best defender in the world in general.
Seeing Saliba excel in the stats comparison with other good defenders gives me joy as a gunner. The boy can really go far in his career.
Need a saliba video, watching him you think he can go all the way
I dont see why he would take a step back in his career and go to united. Bayern would be great for him if Hernandez leaves which it looks like right now
This channel always delivers high quality football content. I would love to see your review on Ronald Araujo (after the year he’s had) and Alejandro baldé.
I wanna say bro, I’m Jamaican, your intro is fire 🔥
Big love to 🇯🇲❤️

제대로 평가 한거 맞노?
Really good analysis. First ever good analysis I've seen of Kim. I think the only thing to add is that his best attribute is defending his marker/their number 9/main goal threat. Kim can win against any number 9, at least from what we have seen. He killed Lukaku, Giroud, Salah and many others. I think he can handle Haaland, the way Rudiger had done. His 1 season at Napoli was better than any of the seasons Koulibaly had in Napoli. Kim was the reason why Napoli were able to play so offensively with a very high line. Every club he has been, he has been loved by the fans and hailed by their managers. In terms of pure defending, he seems to be one of the best in the world and would be the best defender at United and should be a 100% starter if he moves there. What he lacks though, is the non-defensive part of the game that the centre backs are asked to do in modern football.
He's also killed Lautaro, Milenkovic savic and Tammy (Although he's pretty average).
Thanks for that comment - very insightful
Thanks for sharing those observations. I can't wait to see how Ten Hag coaches him to become even better!
Really hope United buy him while the release clause is active lol this deal seems like a no-brainer football wise
2 points that you mentioned "Napoli's very high line" and "what is asked to do in modern football" these sounds like make no sense to me. isn't it paradox?
Mate, could you please take a look at the Nicholas Jackson lad? In a summer of multiple top teams needing a world class number 9, it's a seller's market. Just how good is he? His finishing looks world class, the deadliest in Spain.
How can I get the datasets of these professional players to analyse myself or do i have to collect these statistics myself
Amazing, could you do Julían Alvarez? Thank you.
You should do one for timber and axel disasi. Are they worth the hype or just more Phil jones

Hi pythagoras, when will you drop a breakdown of legendary players? It's been a while since you dropped the redondo one. And do you think scholes was intergenerational? You didn't rate him in your video.
I wouldn’t have Scholes in the inter generational bracket. Probably high generational. I’ll be doing more classics when I can do this as a full time job - nowhere near that at the moment 😂
Scholes was a magician .He would have slotted into any great team
Beautiful
Hope united get him, he fits the profile perfectly and will compliment Martinez

This analysis is trying to view him through the lens of other players, but he is his own style of defender, and he’s the best in the world at it.
WELCOM TO THE BAYERN .!
Given the comment you made re. Kim not being an ideal partner for Martinez due to their lack of aerial dominance, could you perhaps do a similar video on axel disasi who they are seemingly considering as an alternative to Kim?
공중볼은 약하지 않다 단지 세트피스 상황에서 위치를 못 잡을 때가 종종 보인다 하지만 이마저도 그렇게 심각한 상황은 전혀 아니다. 그의 유일한 약점 중에 하나
He's always outperformed expectations, always. But this time, the expectations are too high🤔
Really glad to see Ibrahima Konate in that comparison list, kid's got an amazing future ahead of him, would love a video for him as well.
Will add to list
he is a beast for his age
I think at least during the transfer window most of us would rather looking at the guys potentially transfering
Pls do a Ramus Hojlund analysis. The links to Manchester United are heating up and haven't seen an in depth analysis of him on youtube yet
He's on the list within the next 4 players.
Goooood
Curious, how do you decide which players to put in the comparison list? So for example, why is Konate there, but not Van Dijk?
Konate covers wider areas more than a Van Dijk. Van Dijk more a sweeper type so I tried to compare him more to secondary aggressive cbs who man mark more tightly
My friend played with him in Suwon tech high school.
Tell us more!
@@PythagorasinBoots Kim was good at that time, but wasn't greatest. Lim min hyeok who's former teammate from same high school with him and play for seoul now was better and had more potential than him at that time from what he said. He played videogame league of legend a lot back then and his tier was gold. He also had a girlfriend at that time but broken after he went to uni. He was funny so had many friends in and out of school he said.
In almost all the statistics thats shown in the vid there's this one guy who's standing top.Can you make an analysis video of him?
There has to be some correlation with his left footed passes and his right footed pass. Also, thank you for calling out Maguire's dawdling with the ball, essentially slowing the tempo.
What cb do you think would be better for united
He’d be a great addition to ETH

im a barca fan so obv im biased but vitor roque or fabricio diaz one day pleaseee. love your videos
Please make a video on vitor roque or Zubimendi
With a minor bit of first-step coaching, his quickness will improve from a dead stop... His speed is otherwise superb, imho...
Hope UTD sort out their takeover, want to see him in the prem.
If united get him they definitely need a new gk whose better on the ball to compensate for his on the ball weaknesses. Great defender though and would be worth the 45M release clause.
His medium-long range passing and ball carrying is not consistent but I wouldn't say he's weak on the ball, and he probably won't asked to do that often. But regardless who United will sign, they still need new GK. De Gea didn't check too many boxes as modern GK.
@@dimassubrata yh my wording wasn't the best I did mean that long range distribution but definitely his conservation of the ball is fine. Like u said yourself in a way though with de gea it would be a strain to only have one player out of 3 who can consistently play long range passes.
@Shush kzhead.info/sun/Z8yacaWZppqIZXk/bejne.html is a compilation of kim's passing. Seems decent enough? (keeping in mind only successful passes are shown)

I would love to see an update because Kim wont go to Manu apparently but to Bayern. I recon he will be a beast next to de Ligt
What about Upamacano he is a better ball playing centre back than both of them so how shall he fit in
@@ayub460 More prone to fuck ups. Great potential but it has to show more regularly, also also de Ligt is WAY more likely to score as well as the best "Wall" defender of the entire league. Upa had some horrible games this season.

Godlike analysis as always 🖤 However, I'm disappointed to see that Wesley Fofana isn't top 10 in any of those stats which theoretically makes him an awful defender. Did Chelsea get tricked again? What do you think sir?
He’s had injuries and dysfunction all around him. Needs time to mature and settle before being judged too quickly.

where is Lisandro Martínez ?? or Virgil van Dijk from your list ?
He was voted as the best defender of the season. In the SERIA A! The home of defending. Giving him a 68 Rating means that the rest of Seria A defender must be worst than him (< 68). It doesn't make sense. As the best defender he should at least get an 85+.
