  • "Who took home the W?" This is what's wrong with a LOT of things today. NOBODY took a "W" or an "L" in this because it wasn't a competition. They're two adults. Two successful artists. They had an argument and then solved it. Not every situation in life is about winning or losing.

Or sayin' some dumb shit, thinkin' I run shit Misplacin' my anger enough to give Earl and Tyler, The Creator the brunt" Where he basically says that he was so pissed off at a lot of people talking shit at the time that he thought Tyler and Earl Sweatshirt's comments were also with the intent to diss him, but then he realizes than that wasn't the case.

  • I know for most of my life, I would immediately get defensive when receiving criticism and it wasnt until my mid 30s (I'm 42 now) that I learned to receive criticism with as much grace as I would receive praise. It was one of the most difficult character flaws I've ever learned to overcome and I think that's because I had to be completely honest with myself and unlearn reactionary behavior that was deeply rooted in me from a young age. Once I got there, I realized that the insight gained from criticism is just as valuable as insight gained from praise. Once you apply that correction to the specific aspect being scrutinized, it will result in positive growth. I think Tyler is such a big fan of Em and has so much respect for him that he didn't want to do him the disservice of giving him biased, dishonest feedback. For me personally, I respect honesty and uncompromising integrity in someone's feedback or crtique; it's genuinely helpful and impactful for someone who strives toward positive growth. Now, for someone like Eminem, I can only imagine that struggle, to learn and grow, amplified by 1000%. The fact that he realized his mistake and acknowledged it is impressive and extremely uncommon for someone at the top of their profession. Much respect for both Tyler the Creator and the G.O.A.T. Eminem.

When I go back and listen to his older stuff and compare it to his newer stuff, it's blatantly obvious that Eminem has grown as an artist and shows increased technical skill, wisdom, and intellectual nuance. When you're, not only the best at what you do, but appear to be superhuman at times, people will try to find flaws that may or may not exist; either out of jealousy or inability to comprehend. It’s hard to contact the main man. So he put it where it would easily be seen by Eminem. And figured since Em has that idgaf attitude. He would draw from the comment what Tyler meant and not take offence to it Eminem then TOOK OFFENCE to it and dissed him up and down on a song Again, being MAD SENSITIVE. Which is fine as long as you accept it. It takes a real man to accept what he is despite what he portrays Eminem backtracked and then gave a sob story about ‘friends backstabbing him’ when that wasn’t the case at all Ergo, tryna garner sympathy for him basically throwing a temper tantrum on beat Again, had he simply accepted it like shit maybe I jumped the gun, it would’ve all been fine It’s like if I bitch slapped you then when we meet the next day. I act like that wasn’t the case. I’m sorry but that’s some beta male shit. Or at the very least, some mad sensitive shit And seeing as how Eminem had LGBT riots against him in the past. This should feel like nothing Especially coming from Tyler. Someone who was so inspired by Em but didn’t jack his style. Rather he let Eminem influence him to create his own style of Hip Hop within the genre and culture Remember, just like Eminem, Tyler wasn’t accepted in Hip Hop or the media He’s someone who would understand Eminem’s position more than anyone

It’s moronic to pose the question “does this guy deserve to be called a slur for not liking a song?” Of course he doesn’t deserve it it’s a song, you’re not required to like songs, and the songs he disliked were widely disliked, so it’s not any kind of betrayal.

It's easier to appreciate the artistry in a project without the bias goggles of being a long-time super-fan used to one style. Anyone who hated Walk on Water either isn't an artist and can't relate ipso facto isn't the target audience for it, or is an artist but a narsisistic one. In a profession, any artistic profession, audible or visual, if you don't believe you're the best you'll never be the best. If you don't understand the pressure that comes with, famous or not, then you don't need to be knocking that track. That track hit me HARD. Which, in turn, severely affected Eminem’s lyrics. Was the message there? Yes. However, due to Eminem playing off what he got from the terrible production and mixing, people couldn’t hear the message And at that point, it doesn’t matter what he was saying. Cuz to anyone outside of Eminem’s fan base, it’s UNLISTENABLE Nobody complained about Eminem attacking social issues In fact he should do that MORE. The problem was the production which in turn affected the lyrics. Em writes not only to be complex, but to play off the feeling he gets FROM the beats If you rap over terrible production, what do you think happens to the lyricism when you’re playing off of that? Kamikaze had a ton of the production that woulda changed the Revival album for the better

  • Bro, I dont understand how people can take a work of art and bash some shit that a man put so much of himself into. Mfers just dont like to hear the truth or be made to think when they dont wanna. Revival was one of the most artistic albums he put out. I feel like most hip hop heads can appreciate it. Look back at it it a decade. Or actually listen to it with an open mind. People get into boxes and get comfortable . When someone opens the lid they freak out. I loved revival.

    • Honestly revival is better than 99% of rap albums ever made

    • If there is no criticism there will be no evolution in music , I get that some people just blindly follow the popular opinion about these albums but if someone genuinely thinks that the songs are bad they should have the right to express their opinion no matter how ambitious the project is.

  • Giving feedback is not dissing, so I don’t think Tyler was being two-faced. Even after the slur, Tyler still said he loves M.

    • I agree but industry’s like this are weird so for them another high artist openly “trashing” things could have a negative affect short term and long term. Plus em looked at it wrong in the beginning he didnt take it as feedback but saw it as someone who openly says he was a fan and looked up to him should be the last person to openly trash his product is how he personally took it. He realized that and apologized but imagine if it was vice versa if eminem said that about any artist below him it could potentially ruin their career so yes it is feedback and opinions but when you are at a high standard your public opinion could greatly affect that person career. Now tyler wouldnt have that affect on em but realistically another main stream person should give there feedback privately especially if they know each other. Its better to have a conversation then just publicly say something and not have words with the person.
