    • To be fair the blocking he is showing comes from instinctive reflexes. If you see children fighting or play fighting, you'll see them move their legs the same way. Why is that a good thing? Because it's natural, and instinctive, you can easily train yourself to do it. Many fighters have had their leg broken just because they tanked a kick rather than providing an active defense like that. Tanking a kick really only works against a vastly weaker opponent, but even in that case it would be better to use your momentum to take the wind out of their sails. Worst case scenario your opponent is going to hurt their feet because they can't be certain where or how it's going to land.

With a 7th-dan black belt in aikido and a robust knowledge of other martial arts, Seagal has expertise, which is why many UFC and martial artists seek him out. Keep in mind, Seagal's aikido "forms" drills, as with all martial arts, only represent "fake" fighting, as demonstrated by Bruce Lee, Chuch Norris, Jimmy Wang Yu; Donnie Yen, Jeff Speakman, etc. So criticism of Seagal's is both bias and misplaced. Despite your criticism and ridicule, you cannot diminish Seagal's prowess, competence, and mastery.

Thanks to him, among other things, many martial arts have been spread. Seagal is known for his aikido, leaving aside the fact that his aikido is modified for practicality (tenshin aikido) on the street. However, before he started training in aikido, he earned a black belt in karate. You can find pictures of him with Fumio Demura, for example. He recently received an honorary 7th dan in Kyokushin Karate. I like to watch his techniques because a lot is taken from sword fighting (kendo, where he also holds a black belt).

  • Respect AikiDo. I learned AikiDo too. Steven, as one of the great masters, knows hundreds of techniques, tens of ways to implement each single move. I don't know how they develop this ability but they are really strong and can't be countered. AikiDo masters possess huge amounts of practical knowledge. Not just technical moves, but in combination with anatomy and psychology. The whole amount of knowledge completely removes gaps and borders between their techniques, they can transform one into another in a single move, you can't catch their moves or counter them because they are that fast. Their moves are never just simple straight kicks or punches. You think he does one thing but he tricks you into a tactical trap and performs some combination that literally suppresses your move to zero efficiency and it takes half a second. But you have to train one on one with them to see that. The only weak side is that AikiDo does not train you to be competitive to heavy weigth opponents.

The reality is that they had the biggest military if you count tanks but when the fight started, the losses were appalling because they didn’t have enough experience on the battlefield. And some things sound great when you are planning, but just don’t work the way you thought on the battlefield. Aikido is the same. It is too much theory that works well when you practice, but in reality, many parts of it will probably will not work as planned. The only way to be sure is keep testing on an actual fight. • He's actually going to learn some moves, but I can not even imagine a world where Seagal is in any way next to Poatan's knowledge about elbows, checking kicks or hitting. But Seagal will for sure teach him some really nice moves on his art. He isn't a goof as people insists to keep saying. He a good aikido fighter. He studies a lot you know. Don't be disrespectfull with something that you actually doesn't know or understands. That was a great content! Keep up!

    • Actually they were lethal he told him to not only use one elbow use it 3 times and never in the same sequence. He also showed all them a better grip then muay thai where it hurts when you grab them by the neck.. his pressure point skills on point you mad but he made Alex kneel 3 times with just a hand move .. like he said my strikes is too kill which is true just like bruce.

    • Thats why he chose him to teach he saw something worthy in Alex and felt a connection or maybe he saw something Alex needed that Seagal could fix

    • He will customize it for himself and add to his arsenal just like his calf kick . He is an elite striker himself
