The last one? Fail! The Second Battle of Svensksund in 1790 might have been the last.
Haha was about to say the same
An excellent point as that battle was indeed one of the largest naval engagements in history in terms of the number of vessels and did in fact primarily consist of rowing vessels. The primary distinction between Lepanto and Svensksund is that while both the Swedish and Russian fleets were primarily made up of rowing vessels, they were not exclusively made up of rowing vessels, as they did have some sailing ships in their fleets. Lepanto on the other hand is widely considered to be the last major naval engagement between rowing fleets due to both fleets being comprised entirely of rowing vessels. Hindsight being 20/20, I could have have phrased that thumbnail a bit more accurately. Regardless, I appreciate your feedback.
