  • These guys who surf Puerto are warriors and gladiators and every time you paddle out is a battle for life. That paddle out was one of those that paddle, paddle, paddle and you turn around and the beach is twenty feet away! Then if you make a wave, but don’t get to kick out or get axed, end up in the wash bowl. Seems like a shallow sandbar that dumps into a big depression and you are stuck in the rinse cycle. Nice to see waves like Puerto that are shown with the regular guys out there and not only the pros. Thanks for showing the regulars too. Not every wave is perfectly made and it all looks so real and raw.

  • I’ve surfed Esco this big back in the 80’s & it scared the shit out of me. There is so much water moving everywhere. I caught 3 waves, came in and said never again. Also back then, there was only 4 of us out, no rescue crews or lifeguards all of which made it even spookier 😮 I think I have PTSD watching this vid 😂

  • Ugh, I feel your pain. Big beach break paddle outs can be brutal. I've been surfing beach breaks for 50 years and still haven't figured it out. My friends wait on the beach until the inevitable 20 wave set beats me to a pulp, and then they paddle out.

    @ralphiewigs2208@ralphiewigs2208 Жыл бұрын
    • My philosophy to this is a bit different. Waiting seems counterintuitive because you will still be ahead of whoever is waiting on the beach if you just send it. Sure you might get pushed back a bit, but in the end you're still making forward progress and will make it out faster than people who are waiting

The power is unmistakable and unforgivable. I had a click in my back every time I paddled for the next 9 months from a tough fall there until I went to a chiropractor and got adjusted. Even though I got hepatitis from surfing down at the point because I had an open wound I still have great memories of that place. Thanks again for such a great video = very realistic.

  • I surfed Puerto in the mid 90's and got some epic waves! I caught one and the looked back out from the shore break and saw a lull, so I paddled straight back out instead of swimming out through the channel. I was halfway to the lineup when a wave came, and I paddled as fast as I could, the thing landed square on my back with a 3foot lip as I was duck diving. It pulled my rash guard up over my head and pulled my shorts to my ankles! I'm surprised that my board did not break. Caught a few more waves that day and checked out the point the next day! The point was firing!!!! Great adventure!
