  • What a lovely match between two great young ladies. Aryna is always so good to watch and I love the quiet classiness of Elena. Others should learn from their attitudes and manners - reminds me slightly of the wonderful rivalry that we had some years ago of Evert and Navratilova.

  • Always a great matchup when these two meet. Sabalenka is starting to revert to her old ways of 'choking' under pressure, and it shows in her service game. Once she brings her A-game, Rybakina will be tough to beat. Her only 2 weaknesses: (1) She takes too long to realize that she has down-the-line forehand on a weak return, and (2) Just like Sabalenka, her weak service game when she's under pressure to close out a match.

  • Rybakina has a slightly better serve and better return which was the difference today. Also she can put a bit more shape on the ball when needed. These 2 are always fun to watch, passion vs. cool and steady. Today cool n steady prevailed.

  • Rybka playing some much smarter against Aryna. Patient, collected, staying in the rallies knowing that over time Aryna's errors will start mounting. That first set tie break was masterclass. Best tennis quality and rivalry since the Graaf-Navratilova days. Great to see real talented, athletes going at it after a mediocre decade with steroid Williams. That sweet embrace on the net was cherry on a marvelous cake!

  • I hoped, that this year WTA/ATP/ITF, would stop this nonsense of mixing sport with politics. Every player should have right to play under her/his country's flag. One cannot choose the country of one's birth. Appointing "flag police" at the AO 2023 was not even childish... it was embarrassing and insane... Wars are run by politicians not sportsmen/sportswomen. Why during the invasion of Iraq, 20 year bombing of Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen and Pakistan not to mention the genocidal Vietnam war US, Australian, UK... athletes were allowed to compete under their national flag? USA invaded Iraq in 2003 and yet their flag was still allowed at the World Cup 2006 in Germany and 2010 in South Africa despite the fact they were still in Iraq. Either ban ALL flags of countries who go to war, or don't ban any of them. Interestingly enough Israeli tennis players Mika Buchnik and Guy Sasson are allowed to play under the national flag in AO 2024 despite the policy of their government towards Palestinians in Gaza. *** All wars are equal, but some wars are more equal than others.
