Welcome back to Stick to Football with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane, Jill Scott and Ian Wright- the original show from the award-winning The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet.
The team kick-off the show reacting to Erling Haaland’s five goals that helped Manchester City to a 6-2 win at Luton Town in the FA Cup.
Jamie reacts to Erik ten Hag’s press conference following his criticism of Manchester United’s tactics while Gary explains why he labelled Chelsea’s League Cup losing team as ‘Billion Pound Bottle Jobs’.
After correctly predicting Salford’s 3-1 win over Wrexham, we welcome Martin from Fermanagh to the Super 6 show. Has Roy managed to close the gap on Gary?
And your Community Questions are back - who would the best non-sporting Stick to Football guest, what does Everton’s reduced point deduction mean, should there be a managerial transfer window and which actors would play our panels in a movie?

    • Fair play for the comment, but I don’t think those two things contradict each other. 😅

      @deannemmer6742@deannemmer67422 ай бұрын
    • It’s not the contradiction that’s the point of the comical element of it. It’s the fact that they’re so far apart in what is required to execute the two entities in themselves. It’s the fact thatcooking is so easy and so common and is to be expected and the skill it requires to remember things to a tee regarding his sport and career is fairly rare. It’s funny because it’s backwards.

  • Roy Keane is an absolute Gem. He comes off as very hard core, but I really enjoyed his take on the Bottling. He really knows how to analyze and knows how to see all point of views to a topic. He’s also super funny and his comedic timing is something you can’t teach.

    • The bottle thing is an absolute joke. Thrown about too much these days and usually from opposition fans of teams that have lost just to wind them up. As Keane said if City don't win anything this year does that mean they bottled it. Can understand idiotic fans saying stuff like that but for a Pundit to get sucked into the whole "bottled it" thing and say it is embarrassing and you can see him trying to justify it, which is even funnier. Should have just said, "wrong thing to say apologies" and left it at that 😆

  • Ten hag answered with a reasonable explanation of why the team is leaving those gaps . He doesn't have the pace for the defence to push up, and he can't play a full low block at home because United get criticism for sitting back at home . And it's hard to get the team to work together when it's constantly having to be changed because of injury . Carragher was right in what he said and ten hag answered it with an explanation . . We all know ten hag doesn't have the right players to play the system he wants and he's trying to adapt but he has a mish mash of players that he's struggling to find a system that fits

    • He’s bought so many players. Liverpool also have tons of injuries so no excuse. They still play the same way and are top of the league. There’s been no progress and to say that because we don’t have Martinez and Shaw we can’t play good football is just delusional

    • Alex you’ve got to be thick? Injuries to shaw, Martinez, hojlund wan bissaka are not an excuse? They are literally the players that make us a way better team and harder to play. Hence why when they came back we won a lot of games and when they are not there we don’t play anywhere near that level. They haven’t been available all season

    • @urch5988 i dont care about the ''hes bought so many players'' logic. I judge a coach/manager on his ability to coach/manage, and IMO in the context of the club ETH has done that role okay. Hes not a recruitment specialist so its unfair to judge him on his recruitment. Its the glazers fault for giving him that role - hence INEOS are immediately searching for many recruitment directors as we speak. Cant compare ETH to LFC/Klopp as they have been a well run and stable club for 8 years with top people in all top level positions. Of course LFC can handle injuries, same with City, i would expect ETH to also in 6 years time after serious football people have helped him build a deep squad. ETH has inherited a club that has had bankers running the show for 8 years. We cant ignore that fact.

Perhaps the scripted bits should be introduced more subtly to allow the laughs and the flow of the chatting to continue. Just a suggestion 😊

When they go home after training the clubs aren't exactly delivering them meals. Carragher was probably a mummy's boy and now his wife does everything for him. He sounded proud that he's never cooked a meal in his life. A bit sad really

  • Totally disagree with Carragher. Football is so much worse these days. Football in the early to mid 2000s was footballs peak across every position on the park. Tackling was still a thing, no var, no diving, competent ref, animated managers and far more world class players. Footballers now are just fitness freaks. Outside of Man city, the game is gone.
