PATRICK GRAHAM, PERCUSSION
De tout temps, en tous lieux, la Parole du monde s’est incarnée dans celle, terrestre, du barde, du troubadour ou du griot. Ces artisans poètes, tout autant passeurs que pacificateurs, sont le trait d’union avec les forces de la nature, le divin indicible, la mémoire des anciens. Il leur revient d’entretenir le foyer quotidien de l’âme collective.
Éternels oiseaux migrateurs, Kiya Tabassian, maître du sétar et défricheur de mémoires, et Ablaye Cissoko, griot de Saint-Louis du Sénégal et maître de la kora sillonnent les scènes du monde ensemble depuis dix ans. Ensemble, avec le virtuose de percussion Patrick Graham, ces libres penseurs et voyageurs font du monde leur jardin.
Everywhere, from time immemorial, the Word has been embodied by the bard, the troubadour, the griot. These wordsmiths, at once messengers and peacemakers, are the links with the forces of nature, the inexpressible divine, the memory of the ancients. It falls to them to maintain the realm of the collective soul.
Nowadays, these freethinkers and travellers are making the world their garden… like Kiya Tabassian, the virtuoso of Persian setar and Ablaye Cissoko, griot from Saint-Louis, Senegal, both eternally migrating birds. This meeting between Ablaye and Constantinople, between strings and vocals, goes back in time to evoke the beauty of being. It is a joint passage through the common sites of the imagination, like a long breath before the inexorable march of the world and time.

  • la musique a cette capacité aujourd'hui si rare d'utiliser les différences pour en faire une force. Ce projet en est la preuve, 3 continents qui ne font plus qu'un, celui de la tolérance et du partage.   • This is the first video I saw of you guys playing. I got to cry as I was going through a deep sorrow in my life and soul. Every time happening the same. Finally, I found out you were going to play in Prague in April this year 2023 and I bought the tickets driven by emotions. Tree days travel back and forth from Mexico just to see you live...And I could sit in front of you second row and could not stop crying again-I do not cry often, please don't think I am drama addicted, haha- but what I learned from your music is the magic and power you emanate and the healing you provide. Fortunately I could speak this words to you Kiya, and your modesty and genuine soul was not a surprise to me but also another gift from life and the fortune of finding Constantinople and Ablaye im my path. Thank you always. You really are a blessing.

    • nah you just ain't looking well enough in the proper places. Roots Revival, Hania Rani, Yussef Dayes are to name a few in a few different genres. I know its tempting to feel victimized by social media, streaming services and the out pour of crappy generic music in the mainstream circles, but good stuff is out there, you just have to be more proactive at looking for it.

  • Ce concert me rappelle le premier concert de Kora que j'ai organisé il y a fort longtemps à Paris. C'est une musique qui fait voyager les coeurs au-delà des grondements du monde, une musique d'union des âmes et de paix totales.
