You can ask ChatGPT to display the current state of the board in text format after each move, interesting to see what it thinks is the current state of the board and how pieces magically teleport or get placed on the board
If ChatGPT loses track of where pieces are, anything it attempts to play from then on is likely to be nonsense. I would be very interested to see what it thinks is on the board, versus what is actually there--if it e.g. ends up assuming a position is equivalent to another which is almost the same, but then the moves played on the board end up causing the imagined position and real position to diverge.

Rather it has an history of the chatlog and it tries to predict what words should ideally appear next. It treats chess as a language problem. It's a miracle of engineering that it's as coherent as it *is.* It doesn't have any right to be, this approach *shouldn't work,* and yet it does kind of.

Blindfolded is the key word here. Unlike most human players, it lacks the continuous input of seeing the board. I made a varient of chess called the "Card Chess" which Involves LUCK the easiest way to explain this is that the cards works like "elixer" in "Clash Royale" 2 - 9: pawns 10: Knight J (11): Bishop Q(12): queen K(13): king A(14,1): Rook Rules: #1 Each player keeps 4 cards from the deck #2 The player can only play the piece from 4 cards that represents the piece #3 u can add up to 2 cards (ex: if u want to play a queen, then u can put the queen card or u can put 2 cards that sums up to 12 like; 6 & 6, 4 & 8, J (11) & A (btw the A acts as 1 when adding, but acts as 14 when summing up to put the rook) #4 When the queen dies, u can get up to 5 cards (advantage) #5 there is no legal or illegal move, the player must play the card he can play #6 if there is no card u can play at all, u should show the opponent ur cards and check if u really don't have, and refresh ur deck, but it skips ur turn #7 u can castle only with the KIng card and here are some bonus rules if u want: 1. if u put 2 same cards, u can move the piece twice, but u can't eat at the second move, and go backwards (so if u put 6 & 6, u can either move the same pawn twice or move the queen) 2.the big A spade card with any number can be changed it to any royal cards (King, queen, bishop) 3. if u put King, Queen, Bishop together, Idk give me some good ideas for this..
