Reminds me of a few years ago when the Devils were playing the Cannucks, Hall hit Larson behind the net and he was on the ice and out cold. There was a scrum that ensued and they were right on top of Larson as he lay there on the ice hitting him in the head with skates and shit. Finally the goalie jumped in and started trying to push the guys away so they didn’t hurt him more.

The elephant in the room is, Evans should never have been on the ice in lieu of concussion protocol and also his head down style of skating. He’s an accident waiting to happen and just for sake of his condition should not be playing in this league, especially at playoff time when contact play is markedly increased.

From Scotland, like watching hockey though not an avid fan. The fact people are on here debating whether this challenge is legal or not ( not having a great understanding of the rules myself ) makes me think hockey needs to look at the rule book. That was BRUTAL and no one can tell me that's good for the game. Wishing the lad a speedy recovery.

The Markstrom and Rittich protecting the injured player was their own player. Ehlers was more of sportsmanship because he was protecting the opposing injured player. That’s more than sportsmanship, that’s a good human being thing to do. Super classy.

Gary Surer is also the piece of shit who in the 1991 Canada Cup tournament, checked Wayne Gretzky from behind, ramming him into the boards and wrenching his back.

I went looking for that hit and was astounded by what i realized. I'm in the east and don't get many western division games. Larsson has been knocked around like a forgotten ragdoll for the last two years and his teammates rarely stick up for him. It's as if you hit Larsson dirty, and nothing happens. No retaliation by his team and no help from the league.

puck was already in the net by the time he make contact with him. this is inexcusable. he didn't even try to stop, let alone slow just a little bit down before he went through him. i always though he was on the shitty side, and now i think that even more.

The scorer had two options. Take the hit and score! Or... avoid the hit and possibly not score. He knew the risks and he took it. Also, the puck got into the net maybe 1/10th of a second before he took the hit. Can you stop in 1/10 of a second let alone make that decision in that time? The only think to question is this. "Intention of point of contact!" Did the hitter try to make contact with the head? And it doesn't appear so. Shoulder to body is a legit hit! It is that simple. Might even say he might have charged, but it doesn't look like it considering the hitter was gliding in as the scorer was on the opposite side of the net. It is a nasty hit, that is for sure. But overall, the scorer made his decision and chose to score before his own safety. And that option is what defense must make to the scorers on occasion. It is a party of defense. The hitter should not be fined or suspended more than a day. And the suspension should only be to try and minimize the retaliation of the scorer's team.

If you play it at .25 speed, you can see Scheifele lining up the hit while Evans is doing the wrap around. If Scheifele had played the puck and gone for the poke check, he could have actually stopped the goal, but he was more focused on leveling Evans than actually helping his team stay in the game.

For people saying that was a legal hit. That is most certainly not. He didn’t stop before he hit him, it was a complete run on into his face, which left him concussed. He still had the puck within 2 seconds before being hit, and the hit was him having the puck still in his possession. So in that case the hit was not legal.

There will be a long suspension. Nothing in this hit is okay. Evans has already put the puck in the net and is probably starting to relax, not expecting to be steamrolled, the hit is charged with several strides, it's extremely poorly timed for obvious reasons, the primary contact is the head.

Reminds me of a few years ago when the Devils were playing the Cannucks, Hall hit Larson behind the net and he was on the ice and out cold. There was a scrum that ensued and they were right on top of Larson as he lay there on the ice hitting him in the head with skates and shit. Finally the goalie jumped in and started trying to push the guys away so they didn’t hurt him more.

Larsson has been knocked around like a forgotten ragdoll for the last two years and his teammates rarely stick up for him. It's as if you hit Larsson dirty, and nothing happens. puck was already in the net by the time he make contact with him. this is inexcusable. he didn't even try to stop, let alone slow just a little bit down before he went through him. i always though he was on the shitty side, and now i think that even more.
The scorer had two options. Take the hit and score! Or... avoid the hit and possibly not score. He knew the risks and he took it. Also, the puck got into the net maybe 1/10th of a second before he took the hit. Can you stop in 1/10 of a second let alone make that decision in that time? The only think to question is this. "Intention of point of contact!" Did the hitter try to make contact with the head? And it doesn't appear so. Shoulder to body is a legit hit! It is that simple. Might even say he might have charged, but it doesn't look like it considering the hitter was gliding in as the scorer was on the opposite side of the net. It is a nasty hit, that is for sure. But overall, the scorer made his decision and chose to score before his own safety. And that option is what defense must make to the scorers on occasion. It is a party of defense. The hitter should not be fined or suspended more than a day. And the suspension should only be to try and minimize the retaliation of the scorer's team.

I am proud of Ehlers not only for what he brought to my fantasy team, but for what he did here. He and the ref do a great job of holding back the crowd of players. Props man! God I hope Evans is ok. Seeing stuff like this makes your heart drop for sure.
If you play it at .25 speed, you can see Scheifele lining up the hit while Evans is doing the wrap around. If Scheifele had played the puck and gone for the poke check, he could have actually stopped the goal, but he was more focused on leveling Evans than actually helping his team stay in the game.
Fun facts Scheifele gets a lot of talk for the Selkes in the past few years, how the fuck is that the best defensive play in that situation anyone with good hockey sense know to play the puck, like Playoffs or not that hit is not the play🤦♂️

For people saying that was a legal hit. That is most certainly not. He didn’t stop before he hit him, it was a complete run on into his face, which left him concussed. He still had the puck within 2 seconds before being hit, and the hit was him having the puck still in his possession. So in that case the hit was not legal.
The people saying this is not worth a suspension didn't watch the game.
So based on how the league has handled Wilson and Reaves, we can only assume that the Rangers will be fined $250k for this hit.

There will be a long suspension. Nothing in this hit is okay. Evans has already put the puck in the net and is probably starting to relax, not expecting to be steamrolled, the hit is charged with several strides, it's extremely poorly timed for obvious reasons, the primary contact is the head.
