Suggestion to Mojang: Snowy wolves should be able to walk on powdered snow. This would prevent them from dying to it and would be a cool little feature in general.
I'd love to see little gimmicks with each type of wolf. Nothing super ground breaking, just little changes to diferentiate them more.
@@joshua.h Different wolves should hunt different animals
@@joshua.h Yeah! I definitely agree.
@@joshua.h that would require a modicum of effort on Mojang’s part.
Not to stomp on anyone’s dreams but these suggestions, while cool, would be a lot more work than you would think for a small change

They should've given the snowy wolves those bright blue husky eyes
If people leave enough feedback, they probably will. Mojang has been on a roll lately with stuff fans like.
And since it's so rare itd make it even cooler
I’d like it if they put in an even more rare variant with red eyes. I want ghost from GoT!
Yeah but real wolves don't have blue eyes. Not that minecraft is being 100% accurate on the wolves lol but maybe they could add a thing where if you tame it, their eyes turn blue
@@turtlewolf5050 Since half of these "wolves" are based on _other_ wild canine species, I think they'll be willing to work with eye colors.
What a pleasant surprise. And yes, there are some jungle wolves in real life.
No way
The rusty wolf reminds me of the maned wolf which lives in South America. I think it’s technically not a wolf but another canine like a hyena or a coyote.
@@ryankunst668was about to say, asaide from the maned wolf, don't know for sure
@@ryankunst668 The maned wolf is more closely related to foxes I believe. Also Hyena's aren't canine's or dogs. The're like a big mongoose.
@@ryankunst668 Hyenas aren't canines, they're a separate family. Contrary to popular beliefs, they aren't cats or mongooses either
The Indian wolf subspecies is the most famous example of wolves in jungles, but the variant placed rhwre in-game seems inspired by a seperate animal known as the dhole which is a bright orange and found in southeast Asian jungles (although jt is unfortunately endangered with only 2000 individuals in that entire range)
dhole sounds the fourth variant of a rather mean wolf
it being endangered is probably why they choose that skin for it, Minecraft has a history of already adding animals that need some attention
Indian Wolves don't live in the jungle though?
@@Jazmento Whenever I see the word 'Dhole', my brain immediately turns to Dole orange juice, and then I want orange juice, but I can't have orange juice, because we don't have any orange juice
☝️🤓
I love the African painted dogs and hyena inspired wolves!!
Dog bleeds too.
The African Painted Dog is also an endangered species, so it makes sense for them to be added.
Aren't they calling the african painted dogs, spotted wolves
Fun fact, the hyena actually isn’t a “dog” per se. It’s actually in its own family of species. It’s actually more related to cats and mongooses than dogs which is weird.
the striped wolves are actually based on the aardwolf!
The achievement should be named: ''The pack survives''.
I was thinking Best In Show.
Thats a good one too! @@KBRoller

Finally my wolf armys are gonna look a bit less bland!
Yeah, but now I’m actually gonna feel bad when they die. they’re not just clones anymore
@@jacobpugpoirier3350 Well then it's a good thing you can give them all armour.
@@Supreme_Dalek_how
@@SOY_THERIAN What rock have you been under? They added wolf armour to the game.
@@Supreme_Dalek_ I haven't seen any armadillos
The Achievement is likely going be like like "Leader of the Pack" or something. Also people have started calling African Wild Dogs to African Painted Dogs for the Wild gave reason for hunters to hunt them for people considered Wild Dogs to be dangerous. They changed the names to African Painted Dogs for they were starting to go endangered from hunters.
Isn't there already a "Leader of the Pack achievement for having a certain number of wolves though?
@@recycledwaste8737 I don't know in terms of Java but thinking about it I feel it would be something in Bedrock edition already, but it does not meant they can't update it for all the new textures and make it for both editions.
Living sheep are gonna be so much more difficult to find now. XD
Good thing i just made my sheep farm. Right now i have an underground sheep farm with pens for each color. Five per color/pen. Got a path down the middle and now i'm decorating. Unfortunately the down side is slimes keep spawning but i guess i have some extra slime, too. Still, i'm set for sheep. 😎
And llamas will be a lot more useful now.
/summon minecraftwolf ~ ~ ~(variantwoods)_
Did you know striped hyenas were once tamed in Egypt to help hunt food. They stop taming them later. Striped hyenas can actually be "tamable" if raised at birth. Even though they are not wolves or canids, they can be very dog-like and also are my favorite animals so I am SO thrilled about this update.
I don’t know how many people have noticed, but these aren’t even 1.21 snapshots! We have been on 1.20.5 snapshots this entire time, and the trial chamber stuff has been locked behind an experimental toggle/data pack. That said, the armadillo and wolf stuff have not. They are actually coming in the minor update.
Not true there's no minor update for the wolves they're coming in both with 1.21 that would be dumb to not be added to 1.21 except for the dog armor
Exactly its the reason we havent gotten a update name yet. Most of the stuff after minecon hasnt been for 1.21 but for 1.20.5. Last year we got the update name at the start of march, I belive we will wait longer since we get quite a bit of stuff in 1.20.5. Also exciting because they have been cooking a lot they havent shown for 1.21.
@@NotGamingKingUser nope, it has been confirmed by the devs that armadillos, wolf armor and the new wolf variants are all coming in 1.20.5
@@leftory684 dude armadillo is for 1.21 are you that dumb no one even the dev not confirm that it will be release for 1.20.5
I did noticed, and i am glad someone else commented it
Wish there were a Coyote variant. It would certainly be fun for the desert.
Oh yeah i wish that too. Maybe even jackals too.
This would be really easy to do, because wolf types can be added using data packs! We could even add our own coyotes if we wanted!
@@discochaotica well sure but I think it is better when it is part of vanilla rather than with data packs
@@discochaotica I wonder if we could add Clifford in a datapack and have him spawn in biomes adjacent to beaches.(He lived on an island in the original cartoon, right?)
I wish there was a Shiba variant in the cherry blossoms biome

Thank u, u r my hero i could cry🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I was actually thinking of spawning the wolves instead of looking for them today XD (but only the rare one and the one that looks like a hyena) but I have to wait until it comes out :(
you are my hero
It doesn't work for me
@@WitchCraftFairy7 well if you only have the armor and armadillos and your on bedrock it won’t work on on java expermental the spawning the wolves but in bedrock for now we have the armor and armadillos so we can not spawn the wolve variants so we have to wait but if your on java let me know and ask some questions!
Since I am from Brazil, this jungle variant of the wolf must be based on the maned wolf which as far I know lives in the biome area of the region where we call it “cerrado”; and my state I don’t live near it.
i think it may be the dhole actually, but i hope they add a maney too with the black legs
According to Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book stories, wolves do exist in the jungle. Mowgli's foster family being one example.
Apparently the jungle book is set in India so it would make sense for there to be wolves there because the Indian wolf subspecies lives in jungles in India.
Imagine. Bringing a wolf army to a battlefield is so OP. Techno would've been proud.

This is actually shaping up to be a pretty cool update, what with the new wolf features, the trial chambers, and the auto-crafter. I'm looking forward to the full release!
The wolf stuff isn't 1.21 for some reason
@@EmperorPenguin1217it’s part of one of the minor updates then
Plus, the Tuff and Copper block-sets are amazing.
@@EmperorPenguin1217that's a good thing, that orange profile doesn't think so
this is something that was missing for so long, for no reason. i remember the first ever texturepack i made (8 years ago) was adding my brown dog into minecraft. now i'll never have to do that and can have all of my dogs in minecraft at the same time in vanilla.
They should make horses relevant again by letting us equip them with horse shoes enchanted with soul speed. Max speed horse + soul speed horse shoes = time travel. Also frost walker so they can run across water
that would be neat, I'd want them to just have that added to horse armor with an added horse shoe texture to it, adds something new to an already existing mechanic!
@RokkTheRock Fr. Plus imagine the texture packs to give your horses jordans lol. It could be as simple as an upside helmet recipe or the helmet recipe with nuggets instead
horses are already highly relevant, its just when you progress to a certain point you have the choice of a car (ice boat), a plane (elytra) and a horse (…horse)
@Darkleonard nah i dont think they're really relevant. You make a wheat and cow farm day 1 and its just more convenient to sprint jump everywhere. A horse will get you 30 seconds out before running into a lake
Frost walker on a horse would be the coolest thing ever. I’ve always wanted it. Frost walker allowing you to walk in lava and turn it to cobblestone would be cool too but that might be too much
They’re actually coming in 1.20.5, along with wolf armor and armadillo

Dog update is coolest
Fr I wanted this for years
Wolf update you mean
Awesome to see African wild dogs added to Minecraft,. also know as the painted wolves, they are neither dogs nor wolves but a unique genius of the canine family that are endangered.
Aren't they calling them spotted wolves
@@alexbiden9567 yes, but they're based on african wild dogs. it's pretty cool that they based them on real wild canines
About the only wolf family member I know of that can sometimes be found in jungles/rainforests is the Maned Wolf. You won't see them often though. There's only been about maybe 20 some sightings so far.
Nah maned wolf has black feet. It's a depiction of a dhole, which has light colored feet. Manned wolf has long legs for tall grass lands and brush. Dhole has short legs to go under all the jungle vegetation. Dhole are even rarer to be seen for this reason.
My first thought was Dingo but I like yours better
Maned wolfs also aren't wolves lol
Maned wolves are primarily found in grasslands in South America, actually! Their long legs are an adaptation to tall grasses Also, they are a canine, but not wolves nor foxes despite their name and appearance. Their closest ancestors died out thousands of years ago during the last ice age
@@WolfanTerrorNeither are jackals but at least all the rest are canidae, even maned wolves.
I voted for the armadillo. I won't say "I told you so"... what I will say is, "I wanted a pup army, I voted for a pup army, and now I have a pup army" 😁
Same. Since we want our wolves protected from those pesky evil mobs! Also we want ourselves protected from spiders and cave spiders!
wouldn’t be surprised if they make the advancement along the lines of “the wolf pack”
just want we needed, MORE WOLF SKINS, now i can tell salt and pepper apart other then just their collars (i wonder if we get to vote for a special doggo like jelly) do hope so, and they have a change to be found in villages lol
Better Wild Update than the entirety of the actual Wild Update
Well, to be fair, mangroves and the ancient cities are kind of cool. But ok I guess
@@Yegor_Mechanicyea mangrove swamps/wood is pretty dope. Ancient cities to me tho are more like cave update holdover. The most disappointing part of the wild update was definitely the broken promise of the revamped birch forests tho (which they said wasn’t promised but formally announcing something is the exact same as promising it).
Recency bias tbh. As cool as new reskins for wolves are, seeing them as better than the entirety of the Deep Dark is a bit absurd.
@@fleef69 Yeah, the Wild Update is pretty wild on it's own, but it's much smaller than what was promissed
@@Mkmcco I guess that's true

MY GOD! FINALLY!!! We've been waiting for these for years and finally they have been confirmed 😭 These textures are GORGEOUS ♡
The Indian Wolf is a subspecies of grey wolf that lives in Southwest Asia. Its fur ranges from grey to tan. These are the wolves that adopt Mowgli in The Jungle Book
2:40 my goofy self searched “Do wolves spawn in jungles irl?”
Good luck finding sheep in these biomes now 😅
It's about darn time too. This could have, and should have been in main Minecraft. I won't fuss too much though because I'm happy it's here now. ^^ It would be nice if they made some special caves/dens for you to come across to find some resting in. And give them the sleeping animation like the Foxes. :D
Yeah. That would be nice. 😀 NOT SHUT UP, YOU LAZY KID!!!!!! WE HOPE MOJANG WILL ADD THAT!!!!

@@thelonelymustardI don't know, I think this dude is speaking French or something. 'oui'
Rusty Wolf was based on the Dhole, a canid native to Central, South, East, and Southeast Asia.
I think the striped variant could also be based on an animal related to the hyena known as the aardwolf. I really hope that's the joke.
They missed the chance to add Dingos into deserts! It would've been so cool if they had a werewolf too, it could look like a normal wolf but with permanent red eyes during the day and then transform at night and become hostile to everything including you even if tamed until sunrise. And maybe you could cure its hostility like how you cure zombie villagers with potions so that the werewolf has self-control again and wont attack everything impulsively anymore when in that form? Maybe for halloween
Mojang has recently been going down an interesting direction. Adding more variants of different things and making things more biome dependent adds to the replayability of the game. This new change with wolves, among many other changes, allows different biome spawns to determine more of what happens in the world. For instance, everyone has their favourite set of armour trims, but when you find a random one and can dupe it most people opt to put it on even though it isn't the specific one they want. My point here is that survival Minecraft has become very similar over the years; you hop into a world, and eventually get maxed out gear, and build your ideal house/villager hall and other farms. Adding more variety to biomes in this way helps people play differently, even if it is as small as having a different coloured wolf to what they would usually have. Hopefully they continue with this trend, maybe even adding more variety (based on biome) in terms of late game items 🤔
this is kinda cool! feels like getting a wolf will be a lot easier with them spawning in more biomes like this too. of course, collecting them all will be a huge task now still XD
i dont think Amarillos and their dog armour made them do this but sped it up, its been long overdue. im glad they did this now tho, it adds something else to that mob vote even tho its not directly related
Wolves in jungles? No. A similar looking wild canine species to the Minecraft jungle variant? Yes.
The rusty wolfs remind me of my old dog Luna so I’ll definitely be looking for those ones specifically
They should totally add a skeleton wolf variant to abandoned villages, take a guess why. :)
Or in nether
Missed opportunity for a "Nether Hound"
I'm so glad we finally got more wolves since cats got an update first. I wonder what other variations of animals they do next? Cows, sheeps, pigs, chickens?
sheep already have variation
ITS ABOUT FREAKING TIME oh my god we've only been asking for this for like a decade
Oh my good, I can’t believe they actually did it!!! I’ve been wanting this for years
I’ve been waiting a decade for this!
you can spawn wolf types with spawn eggs by using them in the biomes they spawn naturally.
You may want to adjust the title, there are 8 new wolves, unless I miscounted.
No, you're right. There are 9 variants including the 8 new skins, and the 1 we are all used to. It's just called the Pale Wolf now.
I don't think there will be too much bug fixing because it is literaly just a retextured wolf, maybe for the textures or armadillo armor but not too many bugs overall
I love the black wolves the way their big eyes in contrast with the black colour is so cute
My interpretation of what breeds these remind me of. Pale Wolf: Original Wolf Woods Wolf: German Shephard Ashen Wolf: Husky Black Wolf: Schipperke Chestnut Wolf: Great Dane Rusty Wolf: Maned Wolf Spotted Wolf: Wild Dog Striped Wolf: Aardwolf Snowy Wolf: Arctic Wolf
You do such an amazing job going over everything! I hope you continue to release update videos on minecraft!
Wolves! Doggos!
A striped wolf looks like a Tasmanian tiger
5:13 That tree back there be vibin in the sky for no reason
I've been waiting for this moment for YEARS!
The wolf update is for 1.20.5, the experimental blocks and trial chamber get shipped with 1.21
It's about time. Been waiting for the wolf to get the ocelot treatment. 🙌
There are in fact a good few species of wolves that live in jungles of different varieties, there's a ton of different wolves that live in just about every biome (yes they are in fact called biomes) in the world, its really quite intriguing as to just how resilient wolves are.
Just imagine Technoblade’s dog army on the dream SMP if this was a feature back then. Miss you!!
I'm gonna name the Ashen Wolf Ashley.
Can’t want it for the “ I breed 100 snowy wolfs in the new update” videos
The Striped Wolf looks like a Hyena. Soo cool!
There's a subspecies of grey wolf that called the Indian Wolf that lives in grasslands and dry tropical forest. I assume that's where they wanted to go with the ones that spawn in sparce jungles.
2:42 It might be a refference to a rusty spotted cat tho, and I'm pretty sure that there is no wolves that live in a jungle
2:40 I think the rusty wolve is supposed to resemble a dhole
I wish Minecraft had a mob that is so rare to find, like it should be the right biome, the right time, maybe the right weather and elevation to find some rare mob. That would be so cool
Yoooo it's finally time for wolfs to get the spotlight
I'm now excited for the new update
This is awesome! It gives us another thing to do in Minecraft when we are bored which is making a dog daycare with every dog breed.
This makes me so happy, I love blocky doggos
I love DoggoPeace
I LOVE THEM! I LOVE THEM ALL! I ADORE THEM ALL! I WANT TO PET! THEM ALL!
Chiilllll me to
Same with me brothers and sisters💪
The rusty wolf may be a reference to a type of canine called the "new guinea singing dog" which are found in jungle like setting in Papua new guinea, they are actually related to the dingo interestingly enough
i got a camman short about this. i thought it was fake until other channels covered it too. i was so happy
I believe I've heard of wolves that belong in jungles.
"Do wolves live in jungles" Yes and no. If we are to talk specifically about gray wolves, aka canis lupus, then no, they don't inhabit jungles (despite of what Jungle Book might tell you). However many canines (as in - close relatives of OG gray wolves) do live in jungles, such as red maned wolf (chrysocyon brachyurus) or rusted wolf.
There are many Canids that live in the tropics. Examples of these species include the Dhole, Golden jackal and the maned wolf. Most of these large species avoid dense forests, which is why a sparse jungle is perfect biome for them to spawn in.
This is interesting! didn't know this! Getting on Minecraft now for this snapshot haha!
Gotta catch em all!
I never thought I'd see the day
Community: we want a hyena Mojang: ( *colors a wolf brown with stripes* ) here you go.
Now it’s time for them to add the dog disc
Finally, I can get more doggos for my collection
Wolf features + the armadillo are actually for 1.20.5! So theres no way they'd be going into the 1.21 bugfixing phase yet
So excited for this update! Gorgeous wolves and cute armadillos, aaaah!!
The armadillo may be a blessing in disguise 😂
Imagine if they gave wolves stat variations like horses have, then this update would be perfect. It could be something like speed, health and damage variables and then we get to selective breed a super wolf that annihilates everything outside of a warden
One type I really would've liked is the dingo. Chuck them either in the desert or Mesa where there's a bunch of red sand
I really hope Mojang allows breeding of untamed wolves in minecraft, I would love to have a wild wolf adoption centre
They should make the black wolves howl
This makes me so happy. Ever since the cat update, I've been waiting. FINALLY!!!
dude its the WOOFDATE!!!!
The wolf and armadillo content is getting added in a smaller update (1.20.5), so they can add more content in 1.21 while continuing to relase content.
I usually don't play on one world for very long (if it's not modded, I usually end up restarting somewhere around when I get diamond armor), but if I do play one world for long enough I'm definitely going to try to find a Snowy wolf. I was hoping for there to be a snow variant from the start of the video, and was very happy to see that there is one (and exploring for a very rare wolf type is a kind of fun I don't usually do, so it'll be especially interesting).
Hi Captain, there are no jungle wolves in real life, but I imagine the rusty wolf is based off the dhole, a canine that lives in jungles! I also agree that spotted wolves are African wild dogs and the striped wolves are striped hyenas, though I find this choice a bit odd since hyenas aren’t even canids. They’re actually more related to felines. I’d also assume that the snowy wolf is based off of arctic wolves! I’m so excited for this update, thanks for showcasing it!
It about time Minecraft ❤😭😭
