I have a nitpick about the stripped wolve. It's based on a striped hyena. Hyena aren't canines, their closer to cats. They could have used the Mexican wolf. It lives in a similar environment, and it could raise awareness for the species. (Also I think they're pretty.)
It could be an Ard Wolf, however this is still a hyena which correct is more closely related to feline than canine but they are still related to canine.
@Tylanloves420 Yeah, after looking at it, you're right. The ard wolf is part of the hyena family. Still not a canid, though. But, at least it has wolf in the name.

Striped hyenas were actually used by ancient Egyptians to help hunt but they never became fully domesticated. That’s a possible theory on why they could’ve made the striped wolves look like them. I know hyenas aren’t related to dogs but they’re very similar so I don’t have a problem with it

2:48 I play on bedrock edition, and unless it was changed recently I don’t remember fish being able to heal dogs or stew I remember it only being the basic meats, beef, pork, chicken, mutton, and rabbit.
I've played bedrock for a while and never knew this, and I play Java most of the time! But I do admit I'm more of a creative builder type lol. This may be a feature on Java that isn't on Bedrock 🤔. Minecraft is weird when it comes to both versions haha.
It was definitely a thing last time I played (back around 1.16 or so ) and had the added benefit of not putting them in “love mode” if fed at max health.

I think the black wolf fits the gothic theme very well. I would also love to see the Gray Wolf in Minecraft.
I spent 5 days straight in survival searching for all the wolf variants and just tamed the last one, I got an achievement called "the whole pack" so cool!
Use cooked steak or porkchops, and you can both enjoy a great meal for 1 inventory slot.

I hope they make the wolves able to spawn more bigger variety of their specific biome, because on bedrock, there’s no way to tell the exact type of biome like yes, you know you’re in a taiga or a mega taiga but only because there’s big differences there’s not really a way to tell the difference between a grove and any other snow biome
It would be nice to have that information to hand in bedrock, plus I think Ive traveled through what appears to be like 12 different plateaus and not a single spotted 😣
I wish they had a toggle like you do the coordinates that puts in the corner what biome you are in. Chunkbase (a free website) is pretty useful for this for now
The new rusty wolf seems to be based off a dhole. (Aka Asian wild dog). Also, if mojang ever introduced tigers they should be scared of wolves, not just because of the cats and dogs dynamic, but also because a large pack of dholes have been known to scare lone tigers into trees. The dhole might be my favourite wild canid ❤. Also, the striped wolf seems to be based specifically on either the brown hyena or maybe the aardwolf (which is funny because of how wolves and armadillos have kinda a symbiotic relationship, maybe as a reference to how aardvarks and aardwolves also have one!) lol I’m a bit of a nerd on animals lol 🤓😂

10:33 don’t quote me on this, but I believe on bedrock it’s not a 50-50 random chance, but instead, it depends on whatever one you fed first at least that’s how it works with cats. I would assume it works the same with dogs so an example if you had a pale wolf and a black wolf and you fed the black wolf before you fed the pale wolf you would get a black wolf.

Yeah that’s would be a fun addition. We already got a bunch of variants in Minecraft earth. I’d love to see some of those in the main game. While everyone’s pushing for an end update, I’d love a “farming and husbandry update” that revamps food, and that would be a cute addition to liven up your animal farms

i winder with breeding if the dog you give the meat to first will be the coat - like breeding sheep if you give hay to a green sheep first then and yellow the baby will always be green (least in my experience)

Wolves no longer halve all incoming damage. That was removed to compensate for their health increase. They basically have the same amount of health as before.

Some of these wolves aren’t only color variants but they are also separate species of canines il try to list some here: 1: snowy Arctic wolf 2: striped Striped hyena 3: spotted African wild dog 4: Rusty Dhole 5: chestnut idk could be a regular wolf color variant or dog. 6: black Melanistic wolf 7: ashen Regular wolf / arctic wolf 8: woods Regular wolf brown variant. 9: pale Regular wolf / arctic wolf If ur wondering why, you can look at a few factors appearance and biome. For example african wild dogs are a very recognizable wolf species with their beautiful beige, black, brown and white markings and round ears (all wolves here have square/round like ears but yk) and the biome listed under them says “Savanah plateau” african wild dogs live in the Savanah too. And with the dhole i at first though it was just a regular red wolf but then i looked at their biome and it said rainforest. Dholes are easily spotted with their bright orange and white fur and they live in the rainforest of Asia I am very happy the devs of Minecraft added this its a very cool update and i love the fact that they did nit just add color variants but that they also added a wide variation of canine species. If you are interested in these canines i highly recommend looking them up because they are very beautiful yet unknown! I hope you guys learned something from this!

mojang doesnt want make sharks hostile because that 'enforces stereotypes', but theyre willing to make the fox cute, sleep and defenceless. for example, if a wolf attacks a fox the fox will just run away. realistically, the fox would fight back. the fox only eats wild berries, and doesnt hunt other mobs. foxes who live in the wild (which is the type minecraft has obviosly) would hunt basically any other animal where they live, in exception to wolves and similar animals. and yes i know this is the definition of the nerd emoji.
The fox in Minecraft does hunt chickens and rabbits and i’m pretty sure baby turtles as well
The fact that dogs kill more humans then sharks do is pretty ironic. Also out of the average of 14 killed per year (or serious injury’s) around 6 of them are provoked.. sharks aren’t that dangerous!! Especially great whites. they dont wanna eat us they would be a waste of time and energy. (Marine biology student)
I swear to god these complaints are so hypocritical, it being not accurate to real life is the reason Minecraft didn't add fire flies. Do you just want Minecraft to be incredibly realistic to animal behaviour in real life or be a game?! Dolphins are very violent in real life but they don't do anything in Minecraft, frogs don't only exist in swamps, most squids don't have two eyes or have a mouth like it does ingame but have a beak, axolotls aren't actually that violent, WHAT DO YOU WANT!?!??!?!!?

Soooo, you're telling me that on my second Minecraft day on the snapshots, the very first wolf I saw was one of the rarest one (Snowy Wolf) as well as a pack of 3 other wolves (Pale wolves) ?? My top 3 variants is Snow (Blame my French Canadian self for loving snow!), Chestnut and Striped Wolves. I wish we could breed 2 Pale dogs and have a chance of having a mutated offspring from the biomes they were spread (for example, breed 2 pale dogs in a old growth pine taiga biome to obtain a 5% chance of getting a Black variant, same mechanic would be cool for rabbits, as they're the only 2 mobs I believe that are truly biome specifics as far as colors goes)

We need improved AI! Wolves need to be smarter. A ton of health and armor is one thing, but if they're just going to run into danger willy-nilly and potentially fall into lava pools... it's useless.

Um... Golems crack as they get hurt, at least on Java, pretty sure that is a damage indicator... not sure how u forgot that when talking about the wagging tail. Also the fact that llamas attack wolves is accurate to IRL, they HATE WOLVES!!!!! Sheep farmers buy a single llama to protect their flocks since a llama on its own will try to bond with wutevr looks most like it... n sheep have similar coats. So they befriend the sheep n fiercely protect them by stomping ant canine they see to death can kill dozens of wolves a yr. Also, I really hope y r wrong about that wolf u said was based on a hyena. Cuz if Mojang messed that up, ima be pissed. Hyenas r on the cat side of the carnivore family tree, not rhe dog side. They might as well base their dogs on lions n tigers then cuz they r closer related to dogs than a hyena is. The body shape is just convergent evolution.

I've always suspected that Minecraft's wolves are feral dogs. It could explain why they're so easy to tame and train. They might've been originally domesticated by the same ancient humans that built the Temples. It could also explain the cows, pigs, and sheep running amok. I mean, they should be farm animals, right? Lol. They shouldn't be able to survive in the wild if not for the lack of predators, for which the same humans might also be responsible.

They need to take the stripe dog skin and make it something else, then they can release actual hyenas, The Brown, The spotted, The striped and the Ard wolf are the only 4 species of hyena and it’d be really cool to have them in the game
