Yay🎉!❤ a subscriber from Botswana 🇧🇼. Feels AMAZING to see one of own🎉
I hope I end up being able to handle the content! This author has not messed around in the past 😅
Good on you for that little splurge on the book haul, I hope those books bring you tons of joy 🥰 And aaah you've got me so pumped for Too Like the Lightning, it sounds like the unconventional series I need in my life right now!
I feel like Clockwork Boys is a complete thought, but Wonder Engine suffers if you don't read it back to back. Also the way Perhaps the Stars looks like the shortest one but it actually 200 pages longer is a betrayal. I'm glad you had a good trip. I've been focused on cleaning and reading this week, so I knocked out a couple novellas. I started A Silent Fury last night, which is a nonfiction by Yuri Herrara about a mine fire. It's really short, but so well-written.
Broken kingdoms is my favourite from the inheritance trilogy too!! ❤
You inspired me to put "What Moves The Dead" on hold :) I'll need to do a quick search and figure out which of the Paladins to start with as well because my library just got access to all of them on audiobook. I finished watching School Spirits on netflix and really enjoyed it. I like going into things without so many expectations so, grain of salt. I also finished Deadloch. That one took me a little more time, I think I started watching at the beginning of the year. I laughed my ass off and teared up almost every episode. Cheers to proper plumbing!! Thanks for another great vid!
Recently finished What Moves the Dead and I loved it! Am currently reading Nettle & Bone. Listening to Storm Front by Butcher. 😊🌃
It’s funny that you mentioned the divine cities because I literally just finished it. I really need to give Jemisin another chance, still debating which series to go for of hers though
I kinda agree with you about Clockwork Boys. I do think the ending is very abrupt and totally understand how that might be upsetting to come to if you aren't expecting it. But I loved the story and gave it 5 stars anyway, lol. I also was forewarned about the structure/ending issue, so maybe expecting it can offset the negative effect. The second half of the Dune book has a real weird structure/pacing and I always thought it needed some serious editing, and I think the movie basically fixed those problems, lol. 🌆🌆🌆
Hey, Angela: make sure to read Wonder Engine after Clockwork Boys! Jk, I didn't know the series until you mentioned it (and I added it to my list, sounds like something I might like), but I had to make the joke I am currently reading Dust of Dreams, and it's the only thing I'll be reading for now. I'm at about 36% of the book or something like that, and I've been really enjoying it!
🌆🌇🏙️ I read the Tainted Cup earlier and just felt underwhelmed. Looks like I know what T Kingfisher I am reading next. 😂😂😂
Oooooh I’m getting excited to try Too Like the Lightning, and am looking forward to my Stormlight reread later this year too!
Hope you enjoy it! I am glad I started my re-read earlier this time, hopefully that means I will avoid stormlight burn out 😅
🏛🏗🏘🏚🏢Too Like the Lightning sounds really good, hope the series goes well for you! I am also reading Stormlight Archive- currently on Oathbringer- and I am loving it! The world is so cool (took the knight radiant quiz and I'm a Lightweaver, which makes sense). Hope you enjoy all your upcoming reads!
I need to take a good break before Oathbringer, if only cause that one is always such a long marathon for me 😅 glad to hear you are loving it!
Now that you’re back in the Cleveland area, hopefully you can check out Loganberry Books sometime. It’s such a gorgeous bookstore.
Hoping to try them all out eventually!
❤

Funniest part about the Terra ingota series is the last book is the same size as all the other books but double the length
Yea can really tell with those stupid thin pages :P
Yeah, I’m soft DNFing Too Like the Lightning … I did like the slightly confusing nature, it reminded me a bit of Chorus of Dragons but I immediately liked Kihrin and that made the book for me 🤷🏼♀️
Yea its a hard book to recommend since there are very few characters to latch on to with how the story is being told, and just how grey everyone is. So I totally get it!
I have this unpopular opinion. I think the best fantasy books are mysterious. As in your learning about the world and characters, things you don't know about and a great writers slowly reveals this information. Maybe keeping the suspense going is a better description. What do you think? Xx
I love a weird and/or mysterious speculative book. It does have to be done right, but I totally agree. Leech is a great example of a recent read like that for me.
I got about 40% into Chain Gang All Stars and couldn’t go further. I’m not considering it a DNF, but I think I will restart later in the year when I’m in the right frame of mind. Just finished The Deep Sky, which was a treat, and have Elysium on deck. One of my favorite authors, Nnedi Okarafor, is re-releasing some of her back catalog. I’m almost done with the first book of a duology. The title is Shadow Speaker. I can see how she developed some of her earlier ideas into books like the Akata series and Who Fears Death. Have fun with your March reads! 🌆🌃
Yea I have a strong suspicion that Chain Gang All Stars is going to be a TOUGH time but it also really intrigues me
🌃
🌆 I started reading The Raven Boys this week. I am not sure whether I like characters or story yet, as I am usually not a fan of witchy stories (except Charmed), but I think I really like the language. And that is so unusual for me, since I don't tend to notice the language
One day I will have to try Raven Boys cause its a series that always has such fascinating language around how people discuss it
Glad you got to pick up some fun new books! Weird about the texture being different on some covers - so minor, and yet so annoying.
Sometimes I am very confused by book production decisions lol
I enjoyed Edgedancer, it was my introduction to Sanderson, if you are an Edgedancer you'll need your spren.
You started with Edgedancer as your first Sanderson? That's probably the most unique starting point out there!
@@LiteratureScienceAlliance I looked for the cheapest one on Kindle.... I have since read the first Mistborn, a more usual starting point.
Any thoughts on the Nebula nominees? Love the channel!!
Video to come in the future! The list was just released while I was out of town so haven't been able to film that yet
