  • I was trying to adjust my PIR 'blind' as I couldn't see the back of it, so was using touch alone, really awkward. Who knew they swivelled 180 degrees either side so you could actually see the 3 x controls!! Handy KZhead video - thank you...

    @burgermaster4u2@burgermaster4u24 жыл бұрын
    • Hello thank you for your kind words. Yes this is certainly possible, you are best using a "standalone PIR" (one which is not part of a light fitting), that way you can have the sensor set up and it will drive a number of lights (definitely 3) Hope that helps? • Can this type of light be set to come on automatically at dusk till dawn? Just bought a ledvance with the same dials as this but wondering if I've bought the wrong type.

    @kbarr07@kbarr074 жыл бұрын
    • Sorry Sonny, I've only just seen this comment for some reason!?! Generally speaking no, PIR lights come on with movement, the sort of sensor you are after is a "photocell" which just enables it to come on at dusk and go back off at dawn. Ledvance are good quality lights, however the ones I've fitted have been PIR only. From memory they did do a photocell in a larger wattage (70w I think) Alternatively you could get a "plain" Ledvance light and fit a standalone photocell above it. We've just fitted 2 on a pole and used a photocell to switch them in this way Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors

    • You could turn up the time and sensitivity to the maximum (fully clockwise) with the Luk turned all the way down. That would effectively keep the light on all night and off during the daytime.

    @terrydelahunt842@terrydelahunt8425 ай бұрын

  • Can these be wired into a uk wall socket rather than a junction box ,FSU etc??

    @billmustafa6427@billmustafa64273 жыл бұрын
    • Hello Bill, thanks for asking the question. You cannot just wire it straight into the back of a socket as the cable on the light is not rated high enough for direct connection to a socket circuit like that. If you were to connect to a socket, you would need to put a plug on the end of the cable such that there is a fuse between the socket circuit and the light itself. You would then need to change this fuse in the plug to either 3A or 5A. To be fair this is a bit of a rough way of installing it, you really need connection to either a fused spur or else a lighting circuit of the correct rating Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors

  • These units can stop working properly if there's a power outage. You can reset them. It says to switch to off for 15 seconds and then switch back to on. I'm guessing they mean switch the time setting to lowest setting and then back on as I don't think there is an on/off switch on this ovia unit!?? Can anyone confirm this???

    @stephaniecorbett5356@stephaniecorbett53562 жыл бұрын
    • Hello Stephanie. If your lamp is staying on constantly then it's best to try turning the power off to it, leaving it for at least a minute (as some PIR lights have an override caused by switching on/off quickly) and then turning it back on. Most lights will come on as a 'self test' once you turn them on, they should then turn back off after a short time, depending on how long the sensor is set for. Hope that helps? Subscribe and I'll cover this in another video soon Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors

  • Got one installed BUT the light comes on during the day and advise as to how to stop it. Cheers

    @bazbuncher6948@bazbuncher69482 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Baz thanks for posting the question! Usually this is due to the "LUX" setting being too low, allowing the light to work during daylight. The first thing to check would be that the LUX setting is turned upwards (generally these have a picture of the sun & moon at either end respectively, aim for the moon!). If this is already turned towards the higher setting then it could be a case of a faulty PIR on the product itself. If an electrician installed this I would be tempted to call them back to check it is working OK, we often tell our customers to make sure the settings are correct the evening after we install the light and would have no problems calling back if something like this was happening. Hope that helps? Kind regards James - ElectricBlu Contractors

    • Hello Mr Hayes, I'm sorry to hear you are having problems with your light. From what you have described, it does sound as though the sensor is faulty, it should only come on when really quite dark when the setting is turned fully to the 'moon' icon. I assume you bought it from Screwfix? They are usually very good with regards returns and swapping faulty items so I would suggest you swap it if at all possible Hope that helps? I hope you have managed to sort the gremlins out with your PIR light by now! Although it's really difficult to diagnose things without having them in front of you, although if it totally refuses to turn off it does sound like a faulty PIR sensor/light.
