How Easy to convert a old petrol bike to electric Bike 50 km/h Using 750W Brushless Motor....

Friends, Do you want to convert your old petrol bike into Electric Bike?
Then according to me it is the best way of converting into E-Bike. To make this happen I have used a 48V 750W Brushless Motor with a similar controller. To power the system a 48V 30Ah Lithium-ion battery pack.
To get higher RPM I have removed the gearhead coupled with the motor and connected it with the engine crank shaft.
Thanks for watching. If you linked it then give it a thumps up and share...

    • @Jason loewenstein I agree completely with what you just said, I saw this and it was a lightbulb moment! , if it works for a single cylinder engine then it would work for a twin or 4 cylinder bike , and also for any car engine , quite simply this is better than most electric powered bikes and cars because it can use the vehicles gearing and also the major factor of being able to give a 2nd life to worn out combustion engine cars, bikes , anything else the entire world over , yes there are teething troubles to be ironed out but this guy to me just reinvented the wheel!

    • That's very true what you say, and its great to see practical ingenuity in action, something that has been completely forgetten here in theUK , but he flip side is that there are in the region of 50.000 deaths on motorcycles every year in India . .Yes, there are probably a million bikes on the road at any one time . .But there's no doubt life is cheap there, and the standard of all vehicles on their roads is shocking compared to Europe.

  • This guy is definitely mechanically inclined I give him props for that! There is a couple of issues that have to be addressed to do this conversion...first by cutting off the connecting rod at the crank shift that would leave an in balance that will create heavy vibrations to the point where it will be the demise of the crank shaft bearings. Secondly the chain that used to drive the overhead cam it's not made to handle the torque that is being put into it by the electric motor...it will fail sooner than later! 🙏🏼

    • Perfect. The timer chain cannot be used for transmission.He could have connected the motor to the clutch basket wheel that is by default connected to the power output. Also it is basic procedure to tighten the bolts diagonally and this guy does not seem to know that.

    • Interesting idea. Maybe if you used a 2 stoke engine, although I suppose you could do the same on a 4 stroke, and used either a belt drive or heavier chain running to a pulley or sprocket where the magneto would normally be on the outside of the engine case preferably using a straight shaft instead of a crankshaft through the cases to the primary drive, or on the (Hodaka) motors I'm thinking of to the cutch that is mounted directly to the right hand end of the crankshaft. You could make the electric motor pivot for belt or chains adjustment on top of the cover plate where the barrel would normally mount, or make some other type of adjuster run against the belt or chain. And with a 2 stroke either put oil in the lower case area under the cover plate / motor mount to lubricate the lefthand case bearing or simply remove the seals from the right hand case bearing. A drive belt would save having to lubricate a chain and would be cleaner to operate. If there would be any advantage in the flywheels on the standard crankshaft you might use it, but the crank pin may be a weak link and you could twist it out of alignment, so you could mount a flywheel on a straight shaft between the crank cases or add one later if need be.

  • In addition to what some of the other commenters have said, my thought would be how do you keep the crankshaft lubricated and the weather out of engine. The crankcase needs to have oil in it. The crankshaft and transmission all need to be lubricated. In addition to this as soon you get to the rainy season your engine is going fill up with water because you didn't seal it. That was a 48 volt motor and you're running 24 volts which means you're not using the motor to its full potential. This means it will run hot. Therefore it will wear out quicker. The power that you are putting into that small chain and cam gear is to much. The chain is not going to last long. The first time you have to put this under a hard load it is going to break. This is a driven chain not a drive chain. It's a good idea but you need to improve it. If you take the crankshaft out remove the gear that you are using with a stronger gear and then do the modifications to seal the crankcase and then go and buy smaller dry cell 12v batteries so you can use 4 for 48v then with the improvements that you have done will be able to improve what you have and it will be a decent little bike. Thank you for the video it was interesting and you have a good idea you just need to finish it. Best regards from Virginia USA

I want to use the stock gearbox of the motorcycle to increase top speed while still having a cheap somewhat powerful electric motor(cause powerful electric motors are expensive AF but gas prices are more expensive) so i searched youtube who else did this kind of conversion and what did they do, as of now i only found 3 with different ways of attaching the motor, including this video. Thanks for the idea, ill probably do this kind of conversion too but ill try to couple the electric motor directly to the gearbox instead of the crankshaft.

I would take a apart the engine, remove and swap the Crankshaft with a straight rod, add the gear and a convenient flywheel to add momentum. Good luck folks.

    @TheRabidfan@TheRabidfan Жыл бұрын
  • Could this be done by replacing the starter motor with high RPM brushless? Then you could just remove the engine block, piston crank and balancer. I like the idea of keeping the gear box, but I don't think the timing chain is great for high tension and would be a pain to replace. Not to mention all the water and dirt getting inside the oil housing.

    @ohmyadventure61@ohmyadventure61 Жыл бұрын
    • No. The gears are too small on a starter engine. You'd wear it out. You're better off making it a hybrid instead. You get 60km/h easy with a 50cc gy6. That's around 2500w. Add a 1000w electric engine to the bike and put the chain on the drive shaft after the CVT. That way you'd have faster acceleration, and you could either go faster without changing anything else (no big bore kit, final gear, CVT, air/fuel change), or charge the battery for the Electric engine at your normal top speed. 50cc don't drain much gas, you can charge your electric engine anywhere, and since you put the the chain on the drive shaft, your scooter will just think that it's going "down hill" until you turn it off/regenerate. And you wouldn't have to do more than install the engine, batteries and tie the accelerator to your gas pedal. Bonus: If either of your engines dies, you could just use the other one until you get home to fix it. Easy peasy. I'm wainting for my long shaft right now. I'm also getting a right swing arm and another dampener for it. Jus so it looks better.

    • Armitage he means the other half of the rod. They don’t just come out? They’re on a pin that’s pressed into the crank webs. So the rest of the rod would be just flailing about unless he split the cases, presses the crank pin out and installs a new one with no thrust washers or bearing or rod which would be almost impossible to do while having it stay straight and not be pressed too far down
