  • Still not convinced these are better than most 4wds. They are better at carrying big loads on rough terrain but a 4wd would kill at these competitions.

  • This is what I don't get - they have these things called "traction chains" that they put on earth moving equipment for better grip on exactly the type of terrain that is shown here. Why can't they fit some Pewag 3012's to all eight tires and avoid just spinning in place? I really would like to see them try that.

  • Very cool, but wouldn't it work a bit better with the front axle farther forward? I wonder why so many manufacturers make these forward control trucks with so MUCH overhang. This truck is a beast but the approach angle sucks.

    • its do to the extra weight that can be applied to the front tires on steep hills, with the cab forward design. with the axle at the forefront when you are going up a steep hill you have no weight on the front axle. approach angle, has to be figured in with center of gravity, overall ground clearance, and total traction available. also, this has four drive axles, not two. the height of the vehicle partly gives it the ability to be able to go where it does. a shorter approach angle would be a hindrance in this application rather than a benefit.

    • It's was for weight distribution. These are cargo trucks.the cab doesn't weigh much so it it put out front of the axle.

  • If an empty truck struggles over this course, how is a loaded truck going to cope with the course? If the first truck struggles like this, how will the tenth or twentieth truck hope to traverse this muddy course? I'm thinking the truck isn't that good for cross country work or you're gonna need a lot of vehicle recovery and engineer support to get around the outback!

  • Fun and all but impractical and inefficient. I think the use of all wheel drive terrain vehicles ends at 6x6 and at that point if you want to do these kinds of loads and terrains you need tracks. Maybe this 8x8 is needed for some applications but this sort of fuckery is pointless. At least it shows the limits and capabilities of all wheel drive in these sorts of applications, conditions.

  • A very long square a bit jutting out several feet at the front is not a good design for a truly ATV vehicle.
