A friend of mine has asked my opinion about starting a KZhead channel as if I'm so magical KZhead spirit that has all the answers. But my advice to him, as pertains to your comment, was find a way to connect with the viewers on some level. Insurance companies are pretty good at knowing what is and is not going to crash, but making it your second vehicle with multi-car discount helps a lot too. For example, my Speed6 was $1,600 yr when it was new to insure. Once I got married and it was the "2nd car" on our policy behind the mini-van, I was suddenly paying $540/yr on it.

Here in South Carolina the sales tax on cars is capped at $500. In my opinion paying sales tax on used cars is kind of wrong, the state is collecting sales tax on the same vehicle each time it's sold to a new owner.

Actually, he even showed the banks website. Doug has good credit and gets to use his cash now to buy a house. Doug has a great job with Autotrader providing online content for them and himself. That gives Doug the ability to write off the expenses for the car as business expenses. Everything all of us, including haters, would do if we had Doug's job. I'm happy for him. He gets to own the car of his dreams and gets to use it as a business tool. All very legal and above board. It's very nice to see someone adulting while providing KZhead content. This allows Doug to show everything from the bank he uses to copies of his insurance Bill's. No need to obscure plates or anything else while filming content. We should all be so lucky. I wouldn't know him if I bumped into him at the grocery store but, I can't think of one rational reason in the world to be anything but happy for him. Doug did goodly. Be happy for the Doug.

Ok so what I have heard insurance cost is determined by the accidents reported on the vehicle. A Honda Accord is very common therefore more accidents are bound to happen.

Doug I just want to say i'm really impressed with the amount of planning and consideration you put into buying this car. You really seem to have thought of every possible problem and viewed the situation from every angle. Not a lot of people do that today, and I think you set a good example of how to do it the right way the first time.

totally agree with you so many people spend and think later and buy whatever they want then worry about food and rent. This is why so many Americans are going threw life on credit and loosing everything. I saw many publications regarding that almost 70% of Americans live on credit they can't even afford to begin with and have 25% more debts then salary how sad is that. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2008 coming back even harder in the near future
When Doug does a video like this, it's amazing that I was once a person who'd yelled at him for tax deducting off of expenses because his car is filmed on youtube, but now I'm glad. Doug is the only single person who makes me think this, and that's because Doug makes amazing content including this video.
Doug you should look into oil and fuel additives for your supercar. Reduce heat and friction for better mpg's and less internal wear. Archoil and LiquiMoly both make excellent products and nano-cermaic friction modifiers.

Fun fact the aluminum doors, front and rear panels hood where formed and made at Superform USA in Riverside CA. I worked on those in which after they came off the form I would inspect for any imperfections. Then I would sand or hammer out wrinkles and dings until they where smooth as butter. Up at the front panel where it gets narrow by the head light is a trouble area where if you look close may see what looks like a vein tend to be noticed. I spent 100s of hours, sweat and headaches working on the Ford GT. Was a great time to work on a fabulous piece of Americana.
