There are no parents now. Parents all want teachers to parent their kids, without having the actual authority of a parent. My wife is a 3rd grade teacher and last year a parent told her "I want you to make my child an overachiever". That's not my wife's job. My wife's job is to teach your kid the specified curriculum. If you want your kid to be an overachiever YOU make them one.

@@waltergroover5282 I agree...but I also think there needs to be a governing body at the Fed Level...just for congruency under the Constitution...or under a set of guidelines designed with the whole system in mind. Nothing like a dictatorship, but oversight so that states don't get too far out there, like they are under a Democrat Admin. We have to eliminate the CRT, Gender Discussions about mutilation and choice...as well as the LGBMNOP crap. Let those things be outside in the free world...and educate our kids in the things that matter for their future; like reading, writing and math for ALL.

I went to private grade school and was bored my first 1.5 years of high school because I'd already learned what they were teaching in grade school. Public school just doesn't cut it.

My son could not afford his rent as his landlord stated that the sharp rise in the property taxes on his rent house has driven up rent. Most of their monthly income went to rent,water bill and car insurance. Their dryer went out and their washer went out along with their car. They had no money left to survive. They moved into a travel trailer on my property and with the extra load on my washing machine it broke down. My wife and I just got through paying out thousands in property taxes and could not afford a new washer. We were without a washer for over a month and used a local laundry mat that did not do a good job of cleaning our clothes. My grandsons school called CPS on my son and his wife for my grandson wearing a coat that was not up to par with the schools expectations. The public school system has become a detrimental force taxing property owners out of their homes,teaching our kids destructive liberal ideology and breaking up families. Here in Texas the school buildings are more expensive palaces that are nicer than most children's homes who attend. A big coalition of property owners are fighting to eliminate the criminal property tax in Texas and we should eliminate the criminal public school system as well.

Texas does not have unions and according to the contracts you can't protest either; so the unions have no power here.

Here's the thing. Parents with different values can choose the school they want their kid to attend. Years later, those kids will compete in the job market. So fair is fair, it's Bobbie the AI robotics programmer vs Betty the twerking coach, and supply and demand will decide. Far more egalitarian like real life where important choices have real world consequences.
The push by educators (and Google) to only post assignments online is a big part of the problem. And this started before Covid. Parents need to be able to see what their kids are “studying.” I always insisted on hardcopies of assignments. Imagine my surprise at finding my child’s 9th grade “gender packet” on the kitchen table, way back in 2014.

We began homeschooling our teens during Covid after years of public school. My only concern would be that the state does not decide it has more rights to tell us how to educate. However, we already have state requirements. The public schools are federal laws? So perhaps this is ok as long as the feds are out of it. BTW - Lot of fantastic curriculum avail and our teens' test scores have increased. Younger son dramatically - %age wise, not due to getting older. Lots of social activities/time as well.

True compassion is digging in your own pocket and giving it to a person you see as needing it . One day my grandson and I were at the $ store. An obvious homeless person was in the parking lot. I asked my grandson if he thought we should help him. He said I was going to ask you if we could. I gave him some money which I hold for him as he helps me and I pay him. I asked if he wanted to give it to him or wanted me to. He did so I watched as he did. The man talked with him and then came over to me and asked if there were any conditions with the money. We told him we thought it might help him have a better day so that was all we had in mind. He thanked us and went on. Said he would pray for us. We have limited school choice since 2006 in Ohio. It started with attendance at a "failing school", usually inner city schools. My foster son came from one of those schools and in 8th grade was only reading at a 2nd grade level. But he repeated grade 8 in order to be up to the standard of grade 9 in the private school and graduated in 4 years. He was voted as a class officer his senior year. Amazing turn-around. He is not really 'college material' but got his class-A truck driving license. No drugs, no drink, no tobacco, no weed, even though his cousins sell it all over the ghetto. His first question when we turned into our neighborhood was, "Heck, Mr. H, these houses are so far apart [really only about 50 feet in a tract] how does anyone hear you holler if you get shot?" He did not get shot...
Parents : kids what did you learn in school today ? Kids : teachers made us role play in prostitution and drags queen contest.

I remember when I was in the 6th grade and all the girls in my class were reading the Judy Blume. Novel book Are You There God? It's me, Margret. It was a popular book among the 11 and 12 year old girls. Meanwhile the boys in my class would read The Outsiders Novel by S. E. Hinton. We never dreamed that one day it would become a motion picture movie 🎥 at the theatres. That's when school was school not like it is today where teachers don't want teach the students about all the great literature books that were written by great American writers or about the different famous writers from around the world like Shakespeare and Robbie Burns and the famous Irish writers from Ireland. Like James Joyce and Oscar Wilde, Bram Stroker when you hear that name you automatically know who he is and what books he has written, the last one is William Butler Yeats. No the teachers of today from grade school to middle school to High School and higher education learning want the students to be uneducated and stupid. That's these teachers primary goal to achieve. 😡

Kat was homeschool from third grade. I started in 8th when weird rules about excused absences (in Florida!) Were going to make me repeat 8th grade even though I had a 3.6gpa....got a homeschool computer program....my mom didn't know how to work it so I faked doing the courses....I took the county GED test a year later and got the highest score recorded....on the pre test! But under 18 has to " study " for 6 weeks. Got the super intendent to sign a waiver. Started college at 16. Was introduced to drugs and now I'm a divorce loser living with my kids and parents...... All public schools are jokes. At all levels for many years now.....
And gov hobgobblin is trying to end school choice in AZ.
