    • Extremely close, but several important corrections: 1. “I walk to shop” should be “I walk to *the* shop” because without the definite article, “to shop” becomes the to-infinitive verb. 3 “The shop is open 10.00 to 11.00 pm” is acceptable but “The shop is open *from* 10.00 to 11.00 pm” is more natural. 4. “I like coffee to tea” is incorrect; it should be “I *prefer* coffee to tea” or (if you insist on using “like”) “I like coffee *more than* tea.” • The use of for 1. “help” (if an object is present) requires a direct object, particularly if “for” is used. Also, “grand mother” is one word so it should be “I *help my grandmother for* my grandfather.” 2. Again, if *help* is used and there is any object, then there must be a direct object. “Water helps our immunity system”. Other than those things, you did well.

I'm a teacher of English here in my home country and, more often than not, we come across sentences like "One of the advantages TO living in the city is....." and the paragraph immediately after that says "One of the disadvantages OF living in the city is..." - Is there any significant difference between TO and OF in this case? If you had a video approaching this grammar point, I would be more than glad to watch it and share it with my students. Thank you!

    • Actually, advantage OF doing a thing. DoING because of the preposition OF. That's it!

      @Helmarful@Helmarful2 жыл бұрын
    • @@Helmarful Thank you for your feedback. Of course since OF is a preposition, we need to use a gerund after it. The question would be: Would you ever use "The advantage to + ING?" IF so, what would the difference be? The advantage to using technology in the classroom vs. The advantage of using technology in the classroom. Since OF and TO are prepositions, we need -ING after them.

      @GabrielaAttar@GabrielaAttar2 жыл бұрын
    • @@GabrielaAttar Hi, Gaby! Thanks for the reply.Yeah, difference is that the preposition TO " The advantage TO usING " is part of the previous expression, I mean, TO has been attached to the noun " advantage ". Otherwise, I would've used the infinitive of the verb " to use " in the sentence " The advantage TO use ( infinitive).

    • "It doesn't matter to me" is actually showing the opinion of the person. And in the next one, "It's all the same for me" shows effect of something on the noun. I hope this might help😊

  • I have neverd heard, and consequently, never used the preposition "to" as a way of showing any preference. This is very new to me so I'm gonna practice by creating sentences I could use. If anyone can give me any feedback I'd be so grateful! :) 1. I rather listen to music on my speaker to using headphones. 2. I prefer walking to riding a bus. 3. On vacation, I rather go to the beach to discovering any urban city. (I figured saying: "I rather go to the beach to discover any urban city could be confusing but I'm not sure I can mix up different times in the same sentence). 4. Do you prefer rock to pop? Feels very odd to me! Thank u teacher, and thanks to my wonderful e-classmates as well. ✰
