After spending many months with this monitor (and some with Samsungs G7) gaming, video editing and general use, I have come to some simple conclusions for the settings to use to get the best performance.

I have triple lg 32GQ850 should I stop using the 260hz OC option I have? I've also been using the HDR option for my sim racing all the other options are just too dark should I be using gamer 1 also ? I pretty much haven't done much set them all the same and done. I know it's not the same model as your video but they are in the same family of monitors just more of everything. yeah generally lower brightness is far healthier for your eyes and brain. I think it looks better as well

Hello, Thank you for your great video! It was a big help for me! I just have two questions, I use this monitor just for gaming like warzone. 1.) I have an AMD Graphik card (AMD RX 7900 GRE), should I activate MBR or Adaptive sync in basic or extended? I get 120-140 Hz in warzone 2.) Should I put the smart energy saving on off or low for the best performence in game? I hope you can help!
Thank you! You should keep MBR and adaptive sync off for best performance. I do not believe the ECO mode has much impact on the performance, it'll probably turn of your monitor LED and make the screen dimmer. Other than that, it should not do a huge amount to performance.

Hello, please tell me this information - I have 2k 27gp850, I play tanks, the system gives me a stable 250fps, this is what is best with G-sync and lock 161Hz or disable G-sync and lock 220 fps and play, I need your professional advice .
Hey how are you I just had a question, I’ve been using this lg for the last week I have tried so many settings, yours a couple in the comments and some other videos and none of them have been working for me I play on the series x and mostly COD MW2 and WZ2. The picture quality just doesn’t seem to get right and constant headaches and eye strain just after a couple games on every settings I’ve tried. Do you have any recommendations? Hi Zach, I have looked online and can see a lot of people are complaining about eye strain on the Xbox Series X. Seems like people who are using the same monitor / tv for a ps5 'non strained session', are finding the series X to cause eye strain within 30minutes. I could suggest a few things but without experiencing the issue myself, it would be difficult to root cause. 1. Turn down the brightness 2. Turn off HDR 3. Use highest available refresh rate 4. Try adjusting the colours towards the 'warm spectrum' (reduce blue, increase red) 5. Wear special blue light filter glasses 6. Don't play in a completely dark room, have a soft light behind the screen or on the wall you are facing 7. Don't sit too close to the monitor, have enough distance that you don't have to constantly move your eyes to see each corner. Also try to move your head rather than just eyes when looking in different directions. I hope these tips do help. Let me know how you get on.

I don’t understand why when I put adaptive sync and motion blur reduction off I’m stock at 120 hz on pc when I’m in warzone, and I’m with a display port
Hey mate, I've tried messing around a bit with the settings but I just cant seem to find one that is satisfactory to me. Im currently using Gamer 1, Brightness 90, Contract 70, Sharpness 80, Gamma Mode 1 and Colour Temp normal but it still feels a little washed out or "numb". Would appreciate your thoughts or settings to improve this. Thanks!
Hi Arvin. What are you connecting to the monitor? What colours look washed out? Have you checked your black equaliser level?
@@DoubleTakeTechUk Displayport to my PC. Black equaliser is on 50/55 if i recall. Bit hard to explain which colours look washed out, it just looks a little foggy, not as vibrant as my previous AOC24G2
I tried calibrating mine to match my OLED iPhone screen closest I could. This is what I came up with Gamer Mode 2 Black Stabilizer - 50 Brightness - 100 Contrast - 70 Sharpness - 70 Gamma - Mode 2 Color Temp - Custom RGB - 50/50/47 Black Level - High Red Hue - 62 Red Saturation - 37 Green Hue - 40 Green Saturation - 40 Blue Hue - 50 Blue Saturation - 50 Cyan Hue - 50 Cyan Saturation - 50 Magenta Hue - 50 Magenta Saturation - 36 Yellow Hue - 50 Yellow Saturation - 40

Thank you my gtx 1660 super gets around 60 to 90 fps so i am going to try normal instead of fast you are the first to help with that . ohh i have 27gN850-b but still got what i wanted to know . 🙂
Great review, is the monitor good for studying also? Do your eyes hurt or something when reading static text?
For static reading and studying; the very low min brightness helps. On the flipside, this IPS panel isn't really the best for text sharpness - you really have to play with settings to get that right. It's just a great all rounder. but there isn't a native eye saver mode though, like samsung monitors, nor is it a Kindle :).

How is the monitor holding up today? What are your thoughts on the dark areas looking grayish instead of pure black especially playing in dark room? Is it that bad to be considered as a deal breaker? I am really torn in buying my first 1440p monitor.
Very good monitor for the price you pay, uk around £300, don’t let the low contrast put you off just mess with settings to your preference and it’s barely noticeable
boought it for 300, amazing price for such a good monitor even if its "old", 10 bits 1440p good colors and hz, such a good deal.
Still enjoy using it. Its not the best but at the price point, its perfect. I do notice the contrast in dark scenes but its acceptable in overall use for me. ☺️
I'm planning to buy the same monitor in this video as an external monitor for my rog g531gt laptop but my laptop has only one hdmi 2.0b port. Does g-sync works via hdmi 2.0b? I hope you can help me.
Hi Jasper. You will have to use the display port to utilise G Sync.

I have a problem in this monitor, im using Gsync and the monitor in the color gray start to flicker on the bottom of the rigth side.

Thanks for the motion blur reduction flickering tip. WIll try it for a few days with the motion blur off and see how i feel about it. Is this a known fact or you just assume the flickering from the motion blur reduction is bad?
Hi @pedro domingos, thank you for the comment. So flickering is something that everyone has different levels of sensitivity to. Some people don't even notice it, whereas others may be able to pick up straight away. If you find your eyes are feeling rather tired or it seems like the light in your room is flickering when you look away from the monitor, it is having an affect on you. I hope that helps 😀
When I turn Adpative-Synch to extended I can no longer change msot of the other settings like contrast, gamma and so on. Any help?
This is standard unfortunately, I believe those settings are locked to get the best out of the "extended" adaptive sync, although I am still not sure what real world benefit the extended setting gives tbh...

Is HDR the same as HDR effect on game mode?
Question: When i use this monitor capped at 60 fps..its looks very blurry when looking around and just not smooth at all...are there some fixes or does it just not work good at 60 fps
Try changing your response times. At 60 fps the normal one should perform better.

Hi, i have the same monitor. Happy with it, just that something strange happened a while ago that now, when I enable hdr from the windows 11 settings actually is going off, when i turn hdr option off it is going to be on instead. It os the contrary. Any idea?
Hi Riverwood, are you using the monitor with a laptop or have multiple displays? There could be a range of reasons for this issue. Have you tried using a different cable? Try a display port or a hdmi cable capable of supporting 2.1. Or try using a different port on your pc / monitor altogether. I've also read online there could be issues with colour profile. Have you looked in to this?
It doesn't let me move the gamma part, it appears in gray and I can't calibrate it, wur I have to do so that it can be done

Any reason as to why i can't change some settings when HDR is on? I dont seem to see you having HDR on in this video, but i did skim through it.
It does disable some settings when using HDR as those have to be standardised for the HDR experience.

Is there a way to get the full 1440p and 180hz connecting it to a laptop?

When I connect this monitor with Display port 1.4 cable and set refresh rate to 165Hz I get lots of backlight flickering. If I set refresh rate down to 144Hz it works without a problem. I changed the display port cable with another one but it didnt fix the problem. I updated the drivers on monitor and GPU and honestly I dont know what to do anymore. Graphic card is RX 6800 and freesync is off... Do you got idea what should be causing it? Thanks in advance
Just turn off in menu General/Smart Energy Saving.
@@petarsremac8495 I tried litteraly everything and didnt work. AMD released new drivers with a fix in it and it worked out instantly. So it was AMD drivers that caused the issue.

@@zayan8224 What PC / laptop are you trying to connect the monitor for. Your PC/laptop needs to be able to send out the higher refresh rate for it to work.

Try changing colour temperature through the Picture Adjust -> Color Temp

Hi, I have just bought this monitor today, and am loving it so far. However, my unit seems to be locked at 144hz, even though on the box is says it is a 165hz monitor. I am using the HDMI cable that came with the monitor. Do you know how I can change this so I reach that 165hz?

That option is for AMD Freesync. If you have G Sync you’ll want it off.
@@Bthemann16 Why would you turn off adaptive sync? That is a horrible advice. Obviously you need adaptive sync enabled on the monitor, otherwise you won't get GSync working at all.
ive got a 27GP950BA and is horrible with dark games. I was playing new call of duty mission alone and when i go into a dark corner my screen flickers white lights from bottom to the top of the screen in a column fashion? is this normal? someone please help just paid £500 on this . when a message is displayed on my screen such is a hint/tip in the centre of my screen in a dark setting a collum of light will appear in the centre of the screen from top to bottom
That is not normal, for sure! This is something I would be calling customer service for. It could be something to do with HDR/ Dynamic local zone lighting, but what you are describing sounds very extreme, so I am not sure. Sorry I couldn't be of much help, honestly never heard of this particular issue before? For the sake of my curiosity, let me know what customer service tell you.

Hi Dabu, you should be able to view a similar menu using the joy stick at the center - bottom of the screen.

Hi Tomas, it depends a lot on your requirement. Although I enjoyed the curve on the G7, I think I prefer the flat panel. Colours and contrast are better on the G7 but in my use case, I don't usually notice it. G7 is superior in performance but LG is a great 'cheaper' alternative with plenty to offer. I prefer the LG with everything considered.

Hello, I have a few questions on how this pairs with the Xbox series X. 1. I have HDR enabled in my Xbox settings and for whatever reason It never turns on. So I was wondering if you’d know anything about that? 2. Whenever I go to the setting ‘HDR Game Calibration it automatically goes into HDR. Weird right. 3. Unlike Rtings my monitor says it’s not capable of allowing 50hz 10bit 4k which is different than rtings review. Any reason this might not be working with HDR?

Have this monitor for quite some time as my second moni besides a Predator X34P Ultrawide. After some long sessions with eyestrain and headache, i played with the settings. -> gamer 1 preset Black stabilizer 60 Brightness 74 (depends on room) Contrast 68 Sharpness 50 Gamma Mode 2 Color temp - manual W4 6 colors - just red saturation 49 And thats it. Kinda looks like a more saturated version of the srgb preset, which i really like cause it‘s better for the eyes (warmer color temp).

These damn panels are trash, my LG OLED TV has Contrast at 100 and Brightness at 50 and looks great, on this panel Contrast at 100 washes out all the whites, totally backward.

Thanks for the comment Jv. If you watch the detailed review by hardware unboxed, you will see the response time can be 1ms on faster response time curve in some situations. The main reason for not suggesting the fastest mode is, you see ghosting in this mode more so than the others. The response times are still very impressive around 5ms and you will not be able to tell the difference as a user.

1440p is better for frames and smoothnes with a touch of nice quality

Yeah I realized that the day I bought it haha. It's not a deal breaker tho as the screen is terrific tbh. I paired it with my ps5 and after years of 60 hrz that 120 hrz was a nice change to see with 1440p.

@@Blue_Dun I found why, adaptative sync in the settings menu with the joystick, you must select extended so you can have 180 Hz. But as soon as I enable it, I can't use second monitor

Late reply, but maybe someone else has this question. Using DisplayPort I guess. Many options aren't available there. Also HDR on disables some, I guess.

Hi Ivan, you can try increasing the digital vibrance on your computers colour settings. This should help enhance all colours.
Hi, I bought this monitor and have attached it to PS5, but the monitor settings says 60hz only and the options of overclock are grayed out, can you please help ?
I have the same problem, I haven't found how to increase the Hz.
Have you guys toggled on/off the 120hz mode? PS5 supports upto 120hz but you have to turn it on in your console settings. Other than that make sure adaptive sync / free sync is off. I hope that helps.

Hi MariNate, have you tried using a display port cable? Sounds like you might be using a HDMI cable to connect to the monitor.

hey i have a LG24GQ50F monitor and when it came the HZ was set on 60HZ but the monitor is 165-144HZ so im trying to change it but i cant find the setting to change the HZ, can anyone help me change my HZ?
Hi Zayan. Have you checked your resolution and refresh rates on the OS? Make sure you are outputing at 1920 x 1080 over hdmi to get the option for 144hz or over display port to get the option of 165hz.

Bruh! I brought 3 of the exact same monitors and all of them have different settings and 1 of them have all the options blocked. Its so irksome!
On my monitor I see all the profiles but I cant see any of the settings. I can select Gamer 1 in Game Mode, but thats it, no more setting options
This took me awhile to figure out. I guess when you bring up the menu the settings are already selected: It looked like it was just a logo in the middle. So really you just have to press the control stick thing twice in a row to get to the settings

Nothing to worry about here; just use extended. Extended covers a wider fps range. Sometimes, the extended option can give some issues (rarely), so i think thats why LG gives the basic version as well.
Why can't u disable extended with overclock?
In some games like Apex Legends - the store items look blurry. In some games like WoW white text on darker background looks blurred as well. I used most of the settings written in the comments but nothing seems perfect. Used ICC profile from Rtings. Anybody succeed with good looking picture?

Try using a display port connection and changing settings in windows. Also depends on how old your hardware is, some older graphics cards do not have the right ports.

It can be greyed out with certain other setting on. Have tried turning off adaptive sync and then try it?

Try changing the mode you are using in 'Game Mode'. Some versions do block out certain settings based on which mode you are in.
Anyone had ghosting issue on this device. I barely see sometime if fps drop between 50-55. I lock 60fps for spiderman morales. Do I need to change my monitor hz same woth my fps or just leave it max? Is it normal? Do I need to change something like brightness or contrast? Now I'm using 30 brightness and 60 contrast maybe. *Update: I test on dead pixel checker include moving object and clearly I can see ghosting on the start. About 5 second and after that gone. I use default 165hz, fast mode. Only change brightness and contrast.
Try changing your response time to normal. Thats the best setting under 100 fps for ghosting 👍
Does anyone know why my settings on this monitor are locked?I cannot change black stabilizer,gamma etc etc.I tried gamer 1,gamer 2 option and its locked on both.. Please answer.

@@etiketiran5073 if you play competitive fps i recommend hdr off and overclock your monitor to 180hz instead of 165hz.

How to chance my refresh rate, I'm on ps5? I see when u press menu button U have constantly 165 Hz, I constantly have 60hz...my over lock and mbr settings are grayed out I can't touch them...

I don't think the monitor will get "overworked" with a 15hz overclock, I think it'll be just fine.
the problem is if u wanna use the overclock on this monitor u need to enable adaptive sync.. which is annoying

tried playing league of legends straight out of the box however the darkness level on the screen was horrible, the mini map looked almost like a shadow on the screen, after playing around i found a solution that lets me play with low brightness and perfect clarity brigtness 48 contrast 68 black stabilization 55 sharpness 80 personel perference RGB 55 45 48 gamma mode 1 !!Nvidia control panel color settings most importent!! brigtness 47 contrast 57 gamma 1.40 saturation 58 :) HOBE THIS HELBS IF U HAVE SAME SITUATIEN AS MISELF
update i returned the screen and got a new one. its not supposed to be that dark, the new one looks 10x better in league, i think i have it at 1.10 gamma now. if something seems sus with a new monitor or tv always return it
