RESIN SHELL & PARACORD INSTALLTON: Endgame Zowie S2
►This KZhead video is me going over a Zowie S2 Weight Reduction Mod while also adding a Paracord Installation. This is a full step by step guide on how to do this and what results to expect. I also give my personal review/thoughts on this modification.
The Zowie S Series Gaming Mouse is designed to have a shorter overall length allowing users' to easily wrap around and hold the mouse. There's enough space between the palm and back edge of the mouse so users can move freely during vertical movements. DIVINA S Series is available with a glossy coating in pink and blue colour, equipped with the 3360 sensors and comes in two different sizes.

I'd love to see another video on the 3d print or a general weight reduction mod! I just got an S2 and it's quite hard to 180 and look as quickly as I can with my UL2. Still, I quite enjoy the shape.

I commented on Twitter as well but I'll leave another one here about this mod, as I've done it as well using the 3D Printed Nylon version. I would definitely recommend the nylon shell as it's purely white and significantly lighter, my S2 weighs in at 67g with the nylon shell. It's not as sturdy as the resin version but once it's assembled it feels fine. It also has a kind of rough texture to it as well, though this may actually help with grip. The base of the shell is also flat so you can use whatever mouse skates you like, I used Tiger Arc IE3.0 skates so I could still access the screw to open the mouse without removing the skates. Like the resin one, installation isn't as simple as a quick swap either. I had to do a tiny bit of filing the holes for the mouse wheel and side buttons due to some very minor clearance issues, however interestingly my M1/M2 feel great. No freeplay, no clearance issues. They sound and feel as they should. It's disappointing to see that this resin sample has such severe M1/M2 issues as the seller is supposed to test fit everything before they ship it to you. Though with Ali Express sellers you never really know if they are telling you the truth or not.. The seller I purchased from was "Gnome Store". Personally if I was in your position Bob, with M1/M2 clicks like that I would be asking for a refund if it's not fixable. Though obviously depending on where it was purchased, YMMV. My recommendation to others is only to try this mod if you really want a lightweight S2 and can accept the risks as well as the tweaks you'll have to make yourself afterward. Otherwise hopefully Bob comes out with his own 3D Printable shell, that would be fantastic and I would personally love to see that made. As a side note I was also very surprised to see the S2 weighed 90g on your scales, from memory I did not check mine before the mod but Zowie states it's supposed to be 82g without the cable. Maybe the standard cable adds 8g of weight to the end of the mouse or something? Not sure. :/ Anyway great video Bob as always, sorry for the really long comment haha. Looking forward to seeing how you go with the Nylon version or your own 3D shell!
I will have to check out the Nylon to see how it fits/feels. I might do my own shell, just need to dial in my 3d printing skills which I might video and show the community how it works.

Really good video, even though the shell had some issues, it's still a next level mod. I hope you can get the 3D print version to work better, maybe you can commission a print yourself as I think there are some great files for this on Thingverse. A 3D printed lightweight EC2-B shell would be the real dream though.

Great video, There is probably more you can do to make it feel a bit better. You should try the nylon printed one, be warned though it requires some work to get feeling decent, mine had to be sanded down completely just to make it feel nice and smooth, had to sand out part of where m4 is cause it wouldn't fit and had to play around with foil tape, nylon washers and screw tension to get it the clicks to feel like my other s2. After all that was done though it is pretty much my endgame til i attempt to throw g305 internals into it.
Yeah, I'll check out the printed one as it has me intrigued. All seem to need a little rubbing to get them smooth. Did you print yours or buy it? O did you get it working with the g305 PCB?
@@Beardedbob I'm pretty sure you have to purchase the printed one since no one has a STL to print one yourself, Haven't started working on the 305 into the lightweight shell yet since my printer is down and the customer support i'm dealing with is straight buttcheeks. Piranha Mouse Mods is also working on a printed s2 shell with 305 internals that i may give a go when he gets that done.

Hello, what kind of rug do you recommend, like QCK +. I do not like QCK + because friction is not very pleasant with sudden movements. Advise a rug about the same speed, but that sharp movements would be pleasant. Who can help!

@@Beardedbob are your buttons a bit wobbly? mine are, or there is some loose / pre-travel on the left one. Can I fix it somehow in inside? For now I cut a small piece of ziptie and I sticked it with flex tape in the lmb, rmb gap. It solved the wobble/loose but it doesnt look that lit 😂

I'd highly recommend using a photonwire. It's a super lightweight cord for your mouse. As well I'd love to see you use a S2 shell but a G305 pcb to make a light weight wireless S2

Boy I hope someone at Zowie is paying attention... The amount of trouble their enthusiast customers have to go through to try to make their mice lighter! Considering you can get the PC Gamimg Race Glorious mice (that already come with light shell and cable from the factory) for $20 less, I wonder how much longer Zowie's sponsorship marketing will carry them on this market... :-/

Different shape :-p decent mouse though I rate the MM710.
TLDR - dont watch this video to the end, the whole procedure is a complete waste of time with a very subpar quality fit and finish, with a lot of effort involved just to save a few grams. Why anyone would bother doing this is beyond me. Just buy a model 0- or MM710
People want the s2 shape but lighter. The resin isn’t great I agree. People can watch this to see if they want to waste their money on it or save it.

I was expecting white and not light green. It will need a paint job if people want to use it 😂
