  • His dad gave him the gift of music, hopefully he will learn the most important thing from this gift. It's not where you start or finish it's the journey that matters. Doesn't matter if he can play or not He will remember this instrument for the rest of his life and might pay it forward to his son one day, Rock on little bud.

  • What a great Dad and precious, adorable boy! My dad made me a windometer in grade school. It was one time I asked him for help and he quietly took over and made a wheel with cones that would fill with the wind and spin on a glass tube. It was beautiful and complicated and he really seemed to enjoy himself. My sister and I loved watching him figure out the design. Thanks for reminding me of a lovely memory.

  • Hey, Green Arrow, wonderful way you built the guitar, and equally nice you got the little guy involved. You are a true idea of a father. I built a dulcimer from scratch and a cigar box banjo, but my kids were older and gone on their own before I did. I wish I had done it when they were still little, but sadly, I didn't. Showed them other things when they were little, and that is what counts. You did a very worthwhile thing there for your little one. By the way, try a cigar box banjo when you get around to it, you'll love it!

    • +anybodycanart The box guitar has been around in third world countries for a very long time. And they dont have all the fancy routers, dremels, drills etc.. but they make em sound just as good if not better. I wasn't all that impresed but the reason (if you need one) for the thumbs down was because the kid was just standing there looking bored. Would liked to have the little one more involved. I didn't particularly dislike the video but wasnt over the top for it so I wasnt going to give it a thumbs up. Just my two cents. We are still allowed to have our own thoughts, no?

      @ska2dt@ska2dt8 жыл бұрын
    • Darren Thomas I Don't know how old you are, if you're a kid..I get it. If you're an adult, you're sorry. The little boy in the video is a little boy being himself, yeap you can have your two cents, we all have them, but you're judging a little boy for no reason so that makes you ridiculous in my eyes. But who cares. AND, this is you tube and the guy is not living in a 3rd world country so he did it his way...both are awesome and well...sorry you're such a stickler in life, hehe, relax Darren...start the New Year seeing the sweetness in videos like this. But it's your life kiddo. Peace ;D

      @anybodycanart@anybodycanart8 жыл бұрын
    • +anybodycanart So anyone that disagrees with you is subject to insult. Its your opinion that I was judging the boy, but I think I was judging the adult. I'm sorry if I can't see the sweetness in someone with a fully equiped workshop making something that in the very next youtube video a blind is playing. And probably had to scrounge for those pieces to make it. Ya I think it is a Slap in the F@#@# face to those people over there. So what.

      @ska2dt@ska2dt8 жыл бұрын
    • Darren Thomas Oh honey, I am no delicate anything ;) , I'm not broken easily. You need to say what you mean and mean what you say. You said the reason for the thumbs down is because the boy looked bored, period. Scroll up a little and you'll read your own words.this has been a friendly debate, nothing too upsetting and we didn't get ugly, so we both stand for our statement and that's that. It's ok, you can judge all you want.

  • Green Arrow, thank you for this! What a great thing for a Dad to do (or for anyone to do). I was hoping to hear something being played on this instrument, but I guess not. Still, it is so inventive and excellently done, even the camera work. I get a special smile from seeing threaded bolts being used for the nut and bridge! My real surprise is the COMMENTS section! Whoa! I wish I knew why there is so much anger and hatred. Maybe it is because so many people are already pissed off about their lives, and can say terrible things under the cloak of anonymity. I bet you a dollar that if everyone had to post their real name and address before commenting, that entire section would be much more civil!

  • When my daughter 12 , I found a box turtle shell with the belly plate. They both were snow white. Unlined the inside of both pieces with felt. Where the belly plate turns up under its neck comes apart. So I put two brass hinges that I added patina and joined the pieces back together. Where the plate meets the top shell I put in a handmade magnetic latch.i stained the geometric shell patterns on the sell in two shades of brown and black , the bottom plate one shade. Sprayed with satin polyurethane then drilled a hole in the top shell along the edge just where its head would poke out. Lastly took three strand of shade leather and braided them , slid a tight fitting brass ring on each end and put each end down through the holes and crimped them then again the inside. She absolutely loved it and all her friends thought it was cool as heck and they were a little jelly. That was 20 yrs ago...Good good memory. I was a single Dad for 12 yrs till I met my first wife. Right before my dtrs bday her Mother abandoned us and disappeared..My dtr always was my everything.I quit my Union Ironworker job and got my nursing degree at age 30 twenty six yrs ago.

  • GreenArrows0705 You could convert it into a 6 String by making a new neck for it & also using Rouxinol R-30 Strings. I converted my Acoustic Guitar to play like an Electric w/ really light gauge strings by cranking the headstock angle down to 90 Degrees like a Lute which puts the strings at a really sharp angle over the nut.
