Also as a person I am extremely at peace with myself. Something Mr Tolle is not. I am extremely at peace with myself because as a child I observed life in the following manner. 1. Why do I need information if I can do mathematics and solve problems from scratch. 2. Adults are like children who play with other things. 3. I should be fine because I can do mathematics and play football. I can outdo the children who do mathematics better than me because I can play football better than them; and I can outdo the children who play football better than me because I can do better mathematics than them. On the way there he kept helping people. He then fell ill and these thoughts came to him: what will I do afterwards? I will go to the top of the mountain and let the vultures eat me; I want no riches of this world; I am coming to help my father; and I can work. He then goes back to the wealthy city and miraculously finds work. He then understands the vultures are the people he attracted and he did not know he was attracting because he was naïve; he wants no riches of this world because he has the virtues of this world; he helps his father die with out suffering in his old age, and he works. It's obviously a spiritual story.

    • @@rednarok I have read his books. I spent years involved in new age thought without calling it that because new agers dont like "labels". The power of now is one of the first books every new ager starts with. Oprah Winfrey has been the queen of propping up all these new age celebrities and their books. Ekar Tolle, Depak Chopra, Rhonda Byrne and many more. At the end of the day all these people are charlatans giving you a belief system for you think that you can be like god. This is a very seductive path to take because everyone wants to be god, create, manifest and be enlightened. Not going to happen unless you sell your soul willingly or blindly. The truth is that no human can ever become god, no human can ever create life. From the begining of humanity, humans have fallen to temptation to be like god and this has been the very root of all our problems. Read Genesis in the Bible. There is only one God, he is Jesus Christ, the King of kings and the only saviour from human's fallen state. Dont let these new agers tell you who Jesus was, do your diligent research and become aware why he came to the world. You can choose to try to be god and see on your own where this deception takes you. At the end of the day God gave us all free will, it is up to us to use it wisely or not

Humans are life, we arent separate from it, we are its consciousness, and from it something new will arise just as we did from the primates who ruled this planet for millions of years. ,i am not discrediting what you believe and i respect anyone who settles for anything. i do not respect those who preach fear in whatever form. i will continue to persue the truth even if i become the most lonely person in this universe, at least i have the choice if i wanted to settle anywhere. still no matter how lucid the thoughts, in the end the only thing that matters is to try reduce the suffering of the future humanity...

  • “I can’t live with myself anymore” Eckhart said at 29 at the peak of his suicidal depression. Then he stood back from the statement and thought, “That’s strange. Are there two of me? Who is this self that I can’t stand?”. This triggered his spiritual awakening and his realization that he was not his tortured thinking mind but was peaceful presence and conscious awareness.

The mind will trick one very easily, it will help you switch from Alcohol to Eckhart but it will never allow you break dependencies (books, drugs, alcohol, Eckhart, Gautama the Buddha etc) and ask yourself the question "who is this 'I'?" that everyone refers every time. Also please note that "Who am I?" is not a question, instead it is a device, for you to turn your attention from outward to inward. Why you have to look inward? the reason is: "What you pay attention is what you become conscious of". Key is in ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION. Other keywords that are important are Alertness, Awareness, and Consciousness. Alertness helps us to find where our attention is. Once you are attentive you consciously use awareness to navigate the world consciously. When you point that alert attention on yourself what you find is YOURSELF itself.

  • *My* main takeaways from this video: • No human being can manifest behaviour that is beyond their level of consciousness. • "Forgive them for they know not what they do." - They are unconscious. • Unconscious - you are at the mercy of the conditioning of your mind and your emotions. • Don't make unconscious behaviour from the past into an identity for yourself or others. • It is true unconscious people are not responsible for what they do, but they will have to suffer the consequences of their unconsciousness. • Humans are meant to become more conscious. One of the ways an unconscious human being potentially evolves to be more conscious is by suffering the consequences of their unconsciousness.

The majority of people have a constant stream of thoughts that stop them from existing in the present moment. This can have terrible consequences if the thoughts are of a negative nature; it is how anxiety disorders and depression come about. By learning how to stop these thoughts, you will be able to exist in the present moment. It's a calming, freeing and peaceful state of being.

Islam and Judaism are different, more cruel and exclusive instead of compassionate like true Christianity (the teachings of Jesus, not the Catholic Church) and Buddhism are. In terms of practicality, Zen Buddhism is probably the most linear path to enlightenment- with its many instructions that Eckhart also incorporated, to finding God.

  • Probably a million of these kinds of posts, but the power of now really helped me to get out of being depressed and full of anxiety. Oddly, so did Jordan Peterson. They're two opposite approaches to the issue, but i'd say Eckart Tolle's plane way of guiding you into a state of peace was very effective. I hadn't slept in about 5-6 days and ended up going to the hospital thinking I had a heart attack, at the hospital the doctors were pretty useless, but the nurse staff was amazing. One of them, a gentleman by the name of Dennis recommended the Power of Now to me. I got the audio book and started listening to it that day on the plane to Colorado. By the time my wife and I got into our Airbnb, I was feeling much more calm. That night I slept for the first time in a week, almost 3 hours of sleep. Hilarious how much that meant to me at the time, I just couldn't sleep and actually just meditating my way into unconsciousness was tremendously helpful. After that I was able to regularly get at least a few hours of sleep every night. About 2 months went by with me getting progressively more sleep, and then just one night, I simply passed out for about 16 hours. I still practice much of what Tolle talks about. It changed my life for the better. Thank you for having him on and potentially helping people who may be stuck in that same way of thinking.

On occasion I'll have a very difficult time sleeping, and I'll just lay in bed and focus on my breathing. Aligning my thoughts with what I'm actually doing. I'll lay their for 4-5 hours and be in a sort of semi, conscious state, where I'm mostly just focusing on being internally silent, and usually feeling the rhythm of my body. That only lasts for a night most times. On two occasions it lasted for a weekend. I still feel pretty rested, but I'm not to the point where meditation is in anyway better than sleep. I should note it has helped me lower my bloodpresure by a substaintial amount, about 25 points systolic, 20 points diastolic and. Used to have a blood preasure of around 155/100, now I'm down to 130/80 average through out the day. Which is helpful because I really didn't want to start taking meds for it. I should note, I also lost 30 lbs, and make sure to exercise every day. I just give credit to meditation for being able to institute self-discipline.

    • The key to psychological strength lays in the way a person encounters the world. Many people think that objective numerical figures determine everything. However this is actually not the case. Those who gain confidence only when they are fully embellished externally or when things work out smoothly, tend to be vulnerable more than anybody else. Because there are so many conditions that have to be met for bringing themselves out into the world, that are encountered with numerous obstacles in that process. On the contrary, if you have the ability to open up yourself to the world with ease, that indicates that you have mental power. Such individuals with inner confidence may not stand out at first glance, yet people tend to be drawn to those individuals and are persuaded by them. Even in moments of failure or uncertainty, they do not sway and are rather immersed with what they can do. Most of those who conceal themselves with external factors- whether it be looks or wealth - tend to break down in these situations. Those who had approached these “flashy” people realize their true faces and start distancing themselves.

  • The Power Of Now influenced me immensely when I read it 7 years ago. Particularly the part about how that negative voice in your head isn't me. I used to have terrible thoughts about people in my mind and feel like I was a terrible person for it. But once I realised that voice wasn't me and I stopped giving it power by associating it with my identity, it disappeared. Rubin, I would love to see you do more videos like this that aren't so focused around politics. Your interviewing style and who you are brings out the best in people

  • OMG.....The power of this is truly astonishing to me. I sit here in tears halfway through the video just simply stunned. I had to stop it and write this down to remember and reflect on what I just heard. I live as a pessimistic, angry, and anxious person all day. My mind races from thought to thought completely controlled from my past experiences. This has defined me to this point. I didn't even realize or know why I felt like I do about so many things, I just accepted it as being uniquely "just me". There is hope for happiness beyond just " acquiring stuff" or accomplishments in life like a carved hash mark for the record. To be able to "just be happy" and undo the burden of the negativity that predominately runs my life would be such a relief. To see that there is another way and possibly a way to do it. Thank You Dave for bringing these things to people that other wise might never have a chance. I am forever grateful.

I would urge to read his book, 'The Power of Now' or listen to the audiobook - it is extremely powerful and has helped me beyond words

  • I'm so glad I've discovered Eckhart Tolle. Just today in fact. I've spent my whole life being controlled by strong emotions, obsessive and anxious thoughts, day in and day out...I literally didn't know that maybe I had a choice, that maybe there were other ways to be. I just assumed that I am a hypersensitive person with OCD and I'll just have to deal. Not ready to throw out my antidepressants yet, but to know that maybe I have the power within myself to frame it differently is incredibly liberating and calming.

  • wow, love the yin and yang explained about balance and what is happening in the world right now. I truly see the importance of the balance, and not being ruled by the emotional mind, or egoic mind. And I also loved when Eckhart spoke of "No human being can manifest behavior that is beyond their level of consciousness' about 40mins in. Great understanding of self and others.

One solid hour and twenty minutes! If a man can hold your attention for that long, he has to be out of this world!! Thank you Eckhart Tolle. Thank you so much. • I found something similar happened to me . I was angry and reactive. Someone cut me up driving I was about to chase them. The light went on and I asked myself at that moment who am I and what do I want to be ? An angry person or a happy person. The answer was simple! A happy person . At the time there was much turmoil in my life and it wasn’t an instant transition but it was the start. I became happier in my life and things slowly started to change for the better . It’s the question you never thought of but when you ask it ,everything becomes apparent . I feel this is what psychologists do get you to ask yourself the question that you need to ask yourself in a roundabout way.
