  • For anyone that tried this on a laptop and got the broken/flickering screen, one solution that worked for me was to plug my laptop into an external monitor. Stopped the flickering and returned back to normal. Open the CRU folder and restart all or revert back to previous screen refresh rate in the windows settings.

  • TYSM this actually works i was a bit scared at the beginning but I used the nvidia software in stead of the software u said (also btw u have to put on make a customised screen resolution and then put the quality of the native quality of the monitor then u should test first of all and also btw if your monitor just turns off u press ctrl z and it will go back if this happens try with 70 hz or a bit higher . )

  • Thank You! Only could get 75hz so far. Edit: I overclocked it even more to 78hz but it put small blackbars that are kinda very small on the top and bottom... but it's even smoother!

    • This is because your monitor is NOT capable of refreshing 78 times per second. The 78hz mode means screen refreshing *78 times per second* which your monitor is NOT capable of!

  • i forgot that both my monitors were 75 hz and, forgot to change it from 60 hz to 75 hz and, couldnt change it on the nvidia control panel. searched up how to fix it, you showed up, got sketched out at first but now its all fine now. thanks my guy. btw my monitors are 24-inches, 75 hz (both of them) and are curved too.

  • Managed to only oc my monitor to 71hz, after that the screen goes all blurry, my monitor is Acer SA230, connected with dvi. But still 11 more hz for free is good :)

  • My main display is ASUS Designo MX27AQ, which runs 60hz on it's native 2560x1440, it can run 75hz on 1152x864 in NVIDIA control panel, so 75hz is somewhat suppoted, will I be fine setting it yo 70 or 75hz in maxed resolution, should I do it with 1920x1080 to be safe, or is it not worth the risk? I would like to up my game in new Doom.

  • I don't know if I did correct, I followed the steps but when I opened the cru file, I didn't have the same options I could only add automatic pc and a bunch of other things the option automic lcd standard wasn't there for me. So I tried the same thing but with automatic pc and then I restard my laptop and then I higherd my hz just like you but everytime I higherd it my screen would go fully black for like 10 secs and then back to normal and 80 hz worked for me. And when I clicked the link in description it said 1.5.2 not 1.3.

  • I have lenovo thinkvision T23i-10 and Automatic standard LCD option is not showing there. The only automatic options available are: Automatic PC Automatic HDTV Automatic CRT

  • Thanks. There is a limit in resolution and refresh rate in specific graphics card and monitor. 80hz is out of range for my 1680x1050 lenovo monitor i was able to overclock from 59 to 60. I wasn't able to do this on my internal monitor, it only works on higher resolution external monitors i believe. Anyway thanks again!

  • Ok, help, my monitor did sort of accept 75 Hz, but the resolution went completely wrong. Then, about 5 seconds later, the resolution was fine again and it was on 75 Hz. But just to be safe I did but it back to 60 Hz. Is it normal that this happens?

    • yes if your laptops integrated graphics is directly connected to the monitor instead of the dedicated gpu. It is commonly seen in mid range gaming laptops like my acer predator helios 300 @@goma6489

  • Asus GTX 1660i + LG 34UB88 over HDMI = doesn't work. The 75 Hz option never appears in the pull-down, nor in the nVidia app. Changed cabling to DP (GTX supports up to v1.4, up to v1.2 on LG), ran CRU app and it worked perfectly. Forgot to re-check nVida control panel after making cable change and prior to running CRU to verify if this app was even needed. In any event, 75 Hz does now show up in the nVidia control panel. Probably obvious to the graphics power users out there that DP is needed for this... took me a little bit to figure that out.
