Cornered Crocodile is Forced to Attack 5 Lions
These lions left their waterbuck scraps lying around, which a crocodile thought was an easy meal. But, no, these lions weren’t giving up their scraps so easy.

Watch the shocking moment a crocodile finds himself completely surrounded by a pride of lions, and has no other option but to use his jaw strength and speed to get away!

This video was taken one early morning, by Vernon Cresswell (61) in Buffelshoek in the Sabi Sands area, Greater Kruger Park. He managed to capture a pride of lionesses and cubs trying to corner a crocodile that was about to steal their waterbuck meal.
Vernon told LatestSightings.com of the drive that led up to this sighting:
“We managed to track a pride of lions in that area that is called the Talamati Pride. This had taken down a male waterbuck just a few hours before. All of them had fed on the buck and left the carcass about 100m from the dam."
"A crocodile obviously sensed that there was a carcass nearby, so he left the water to investigate and maybe get an easy meal.”
“When the croc got onto land, it was only a few meters from the waters’ edge. Some of the younger lions (9 cubs) showed some interest and moved closer to see what this creature was up to. After a little while, some of the adult females (5 in total) noticed what was happening and came to the scene.”
"At first, it seemed they toyed with the crocodile to test his reflex and speed. Soon after this toying, the crocodile let off a massive snap as it clenched its jaw. The croc snapped his jaws at the lions in an attempt to defend itself. This caused the lions to launch a full-on mob at the crocodile."
"The lions were all taken by surprise, but their reflexes were faster than the speed of the crocodile, and they soon got the upper hand. The crocodile sensed it has no chance and scurried back towards the water, finally disappearing into the dam.
“With the hippos snorting madly in the distance, we were amazed by the sighting, and we were excited to see how it would play out. We’ve been going to the bush regularly for 30 years, and not once have we seen something like this. Always anticipate what can happen, and put yourself in the right place and just be patient. Nature usually pays off!”

Yeah when you think about it, say a lion and a croc are born at the same time, lions live 15-20 years on average and crocs can live 70-100 years. So the croc would be fighting the same lions great great grandchildren, and several generations of the same pride!

Very impressive attack and defense by that crocodile. A human being would've gotten wrecked if surprised by a croc. That said, cats are fast AF
They have reaction speeds that exceed a thousandth of a second. Magical.
What!? You're saying 5 humans wouldn't be as strong as 5 lions?!?! Wow tell me what else you know! Where do babies come from?!?!.....
I think you're underestimating mankind! Although this croc/gator seemed bigger, two men captured and killed a croc easy on survivor! So five men would take this one out! Do not underestimate the ingenuity and ferocious nature of man, were not king of the castle for no reason. Man, would never attack it head on, a simple trick is to cause a diversion, two men either side it, then 3 men would come from behind, sit on it and keep it's mouth closed. Then one of them would tie up it's mouth! Bingo! It's croc kebabs for breakfast, croc burgers for lunch, and croc chops for dinner! And that's a simple direct approach, there's farming, trapping, enticing, etc. Nah mankind has got this.
@@sandrajones8245 Yes, people can kill animals with some planning. Your insight is genius. I think you're misunderstanding the comparison, but thanks for this wisdom.

Well it was one croc and 13 lionesses they an't great odds tbh and the sun was going down so crocs are not quite as active

Lions have been documented killing adult crocs on land, but only in cases where the croc was either completely surrounded, or unable to retreat to water in time because of distance. If a crocodile (especially larger crocs) are caught far away from water they can overheat and die if a struggle presses on. Lions typically won't continue to attack an adult croc, so such cases are extremely rare.
Cole Trickle do the lions want to eat the croc?
@@PA_hunter They will eat crocs, but normally don't kill them for food. It is usually because a crocodile has stolen a lion kill, and such occurrences can provoke lions to attack. However, it's rare that a croc is killed by lions. But it does happen.

You can actually tell he's just a big lizard when he runs off Edit: to avoid spreading misinformation I would to share that lizards and crocs aren't closely related in the slightest.
When they need to more like. Crocodiles have a very high amount of lactic acid in their blood, so much that it would kill any other animal and so they get fatigued very fast, so they save their energy for when they really need it. That’s why they are so damn powerful. If you can’t afford to hit many times, better make your few hits extremely vicious.
