Joe and James talk about the nature of chimpanzees and how they have leaders among groups of them, just like humans.
James Reed is a filmmaker whose works include "My Octopus Teacher," "Rise of the Warrior Apes," and "Jago: A Life Underwater." His new documentary series "Chimp Empire" is streaming on Netflix now.

Even the chimp guy is not into chimps as much as Joe
😂😂😂
Hahahahaba this is gold.
😅
Our DNA aligns with 99% of a chimpanzee. It's fascinating to know we're all in the primate species and sometimes it certainly shows lol the ritualism and aggression. The unintelligence at times haha
@@alexhalsell1991 no we don't. We align more with pigs when it comes to DNA.

Joe talking about animals? Yes please! 💯
It’s clickbait, that is in fact not at all clickbait.
Fr 😂
@@BBDumfuk 😂😂
😂 damn.. me too
Nothing more heartwarming than joe talking about his fellow chimps
🏆
Facts
No coincidence this is on your algorithm because of planet of the apes 😂
The JRE podcast started and has been building up to this precise moment and podcast
This is so true 😂
Joe took a dmt trip after this and yes Demetrius mighty mouse is in the goat conversation 😂
I saw a video where like a troop of 30 chimps left their camp to attack a neighbouring chimp camp that was close to their territory. It was crazy to see because they moved so coordinated and tactical. Once they were close they all sat with death silence while waiting for their troupe leader to give a signal (it was prolly the alpha but idk). Once the troupe leader gave a signal they all ran into the camp screaming and jumping, some had sticks and some had stones and they made their rivals run away. At the end they killed a couple members and increased their own territory. It was the most fascinating thing I've ever seen. It was like seeing a navy seal operation but with animals
Holy shit. Man, there’s a place in Africa - I think it might be the Congo, that a militia tried to teach chimps how to use Machetes, it started to back fire so they gave up. They could NOT get all the machetes back. As the chimps returned to the wild they taught other chimps, and in fact you can still find videos of chimps with those machetes, using them. Apparently they still continue to attack / kill people.
That never happened
Link?
Planet earth the BBC documentary, I also remember watching this like 15 years ago
I saw that video as well. It was a madhouse except for the chimp known as Cornelius, who was a pacifist and refused to fight.
This was all Joe ever wanted.
Even in life you need change every 5-6 years to avoid being stagnant. My whole life I've never worked at a company more than 6 years. I've seen guys stuck at the same desk for 10+ years and they never seem happy. It's like they are stuck in a comfortable life and either don't know how to crawl out of that rut or are too scared to try a new environment. It's bad for personal growth. To all you young guys who are starting your careers, keep this in mind. Heading towards the unknown is always a good thing.
Great advice. I'm starting a new job tmrw after 8 years at my last job. On average humans change jobs every 5 years
I've been at my current job for 8yrs...longest I've ever stayed at one job by far...but I'm getting older now...and find the stability refreshing...it's also allowed me to try out and find a couple new hobbies...don't get me wrong tho, I've perfected the job and even came up with a couple new ways of doing it...but I do get bored outta my mind with it...
I’ve been at my job for 26 years. It’s sales so there are different challenges every day. Looking at people on LinkedIn, it seems people get new jobs every 2 years. That’s crazy to me, but I understand your point.
@@slackamacgaming6721time to switch it up bro.....8 years is too long
100%. quit up every 3- 4 years. One can hop up faster at 2- 3 years after being annointed a Manager. This is how to triple a paycheck.
I didn't know Mark Wahlberg was a chimpanzee expert. You learned something everyday.
It does look like Mark Wahlberg scientist edition.
He was in planet of the apes, after all.
Came here to say the same 😂
Planet of the apes my boi
Why arent i learning something new everyday anymore? Did i died
Alien podcasts are asking the same question about us.
Thats what i was thinking
So which alphas would have to die for our society to be utopian?
David’s spade in another reality 😂

The hybrid love child of David Spade and Mark Wahlberg.
I can't unsee it@brawndothethirstmutilator9848
I don’t see it
This is Joe at his best, with questions and observations...doesn't surprise me that he's at his best when talking chimps lmao
When it comes down to Ape, Joe ain't fuckin around
Porky Pie was just chillin in the trees, eatin figs, caught slippin and the western chimps got him. Jackson went out like a hero.
What have you been I must see this documentary now not now but right now
Puig, Haystack Rock?
😢I called it as soon as he left the group he was gonna get caught
I can imagine Joe swimming with orcas having conversations, hunting with chimps for food, and end of day does these podcasts.
Joe is the definition of “Never stop learning” you never know who’s coming on the show 👏🏼
Joe is very familiar with the chimp mentality...🤣🤣🤣
I can never get enough of Joe/Chimp talk
One the most insane documentaries I’ve seen the camera work is crazy how they got so close
Dude Im still wondering how they got close too. That would of been the first thing I asked. Not sure if joe did in this pod?
So insane indeed! Especially right in the middle of a chimp war! 😳😬
@@Grimz185 not trying to be condescending but it’s literally the first question he asks in the podcast. Essentially, you wouldn’t be able to do that with any group of chimps. This group of chimps had been found by scientists a couple of years ago and had already gone through a process of “habitualization” to humans. Essentially the scientists followed them around and got them used to humans observing them. There’s probably a process of leaving human scented things around or a gradual process of being 1 mile away then half a mile and so on. Regardless, they didn’t just find a random group of chimps to film.
@@soxfan182 the fact that they can hang out and watch while the alpha charges any and everything is crazy...they used a lot of music over the actual audio to hype it up tho
@@Grimz185 I haven't watched the whole podcast but I'm pretty sure he does say that Chimps don't really pay much attention to the humans. I think he said that most chimp attacks are done by chimps in captivaty. As long as they don't get too close to them they are ok. Who knows if it would be like that if you were caught alone by a group of them in the forest.
imagine a chimp becoming self aware that they are being influenced by another chimp
You dont think the chimps submitting to an alpha is evidence of being self aware?
Most humans dont have the self awareness that they are being influenced by other humans.
I do. Obviously that's the case. There would be no takeover otherwise
Recently watched the documentary & it really is insane the similarities between the chimps tribal & political behaviors and our own. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if some of them are aware of that
@@CantTellYou what’s the name of documentary? I’m interested
There is an old legend, that if you stay on KZhead long enough, you will eventually watch Joe Rogan talking about Chimps and/or The Pyramids.
I've been watching them for years, and I've seen that they always split into 2 factions that despise each other. Each faction has traditional territories that the others try to enter and raid, attempting to muster support for their side. Whenever a potential leader encounters opposition, he'll visciously cripple his opponents, screaming insults and accusations at the challengers. When their politics gets near the point of barbarism, they will often put their differences aside and attack a different group of chimpanzees altogether, promoting a "common enemy" theory to the membership. Both sides send warriors and entirely focus on the new war. No more red or blue states, they all remain American
I see what you did there!! 😂😂😂
No mames wey. This is why love being a reading comments freak. You won the internet. 😅😂
😂😂😂😂😂
Mob mentality. Its not easy standing alone, promoting peace.
@Materialism Is Harming It can be pretty easy to get caught up in a collective emotional reaction too. Been there. Done that. I can't be judgemental. If you're lucky to live long enough, life can teach you your own lessons from your own mistakes.
Honestly someone just has to make a playlist of all joes animal conversations 😂it’s the way he describes them and details that I didn’t know or the expert he’s talking to brings up facts and stuff that’s cool to know🤙
Chimp Empire was so damn cinematic and cool. Was thinking how much Joe would absolutely love it.
Crazy how they were able to get that footage...
Crazy how they were able to get that footage…

What footage guys, what footage, please guys, tell me guys, what footage?
I love listening to Joe talk with experts on specific animals, because he's just so fascinated and you can tell how much Joe actually cares about learning more about the animals that are the topic
I think like wolves or lions you have to wait for your time . when you loose get back in place. Next
The dude low-key called Joe a tiny chimp!
The serious line of questioning out of Rogan right away😂😂😂
I don't even think the actual chimps are either

Chimps & Bears bring out the best of Joe, those were some excellent questions he asked

The narrator is so bad it’s almost unwatchable.

When he said, if the leader of the chimps does not do a good job then they get killed. Imagine if that applied to the president🤣 that would filter out a lot of people
Hell if they just stop babysitting the current one, he'd just wander off somewhere 😆
5:36 swear Joe was going to reply back in grunts by reflex

It is amazing how much one can learn about human society by studying chimpanzee behavior.
Ok
This is one of the best jre clips ever.
i bet the aliens are having the same discussion about us….
Probably not. We are old news they probably watched us 20 time line repititions back and moved on to some other shit. But to keep space time flowing they have to pop back and make sure certain things go down at the right time. Like back to the future.. haha either that or aliens are really just the maintenance crew for our live in game world.
To aliens, We’re basically Jerry springer and Jackass combined. Their Mindless entertainment.
Imagine aliens watching us, studying us. Just like we do with other animals. They probably come home from work, smoke a bowl of some galaxy dust and watch ''The Human Channel'.
You tube name of the day Braaaa!
Aliens aren’t from other planets but from other dimensions. Inter dimensional not extra terrestrial. Food for thought.
@@am3818Yeah right, and my wife is Pamela Anderson from another dimension

Bet their coverage of earth is also far less politically motivated 😂 probably see us as a comedy show
Joes obsession with primates is so funny
And bears and pyramids
It’s called narcissism
He sees himself in a world without society’s BS.
JRE BEST PODCAST OUT THERE , ITS ENTERTAINING, EDUCATIONAL AND INTERESTING!! ITS PROVEN YOU LEARN WHILE BEING HIGH
This show was so beautiful and fascinating! I couldn't stop watching it. Absolutely loved it!!!
I think the film crew killed pork pie while the males were gone, what do you think?
I stopped watching when the guy didn't say which type of average he was using or shared it's standard deviation.
When I see Ape/Chimps/Animals being talked about on JRE I engage immediately. I mean, why not.
There's a different level of awareness within every lifeform
I watched the whole thing on Spotify and Joe Does have really good questions. (P.S. It's interesting how different chimp tribes have their own culture and passed-down patterns of behavior)
Thank you for this analogy.
All I can imagine is a bunch of chimps wearing military attire, some decorated veterans even
Stolen monkey valor?
Planet of the apes??
While we are still not clear how it happens, we do know that it ends up with John Fetterman in charge.
even the chimps would pity John Fetterman..
I pity both of you! Pathetic!
😂
fetterwoman
There's also this thing where chimps groom each other in order to develop bonds and alliances so they have each other's backs. It's important if you want to become the leader of the group in the future. It's fascinating and scary because even before our ancestors started to walk on two legs and grow less hair politics was a thing. I might be thinking too much but I think that if we want a better future for ourselves with little to no conflict and tyranny then we should study chimps.
😂 love that the thumbnail has Lincoln and Washington, I’ve always thought both those presidents looked real chimp-like
Chimp guys are definitely joes favourite guests🤣🤣🤣
Joe Rogan is off the charts with the wide range of knowledge he has... Which also translates to being able to ask some seriously interesting questions of even the pros in a field..
When he said the alpha chimp was smaller than all the other chimps joe rogan got all excited 🤣😆🤣 "i have a chance!"
They removed the depressed chimps from one pack and went back a while later and all the other chimps were dead. They were observant and sensed danger the best like the troop alarms
How do you actually watch the full episodes? Where are they available?
Spotify
my question is stilk the same as the other video, why was the doc in slow mo?
When I first watched this documentary I was like - wait until Joe sees this shit!
What series are they talking about i wanna watch
This is very interesting and important.
How much can they bench?
I think 800lbs
I like the videos of Joe Rogan talking to Jordan Peterson about Legos😂
Jackson went out like a real king

What CHIMP EMPIRE on Netflix!!! It’s amazing
Which pod was this
I'd love to see Jane Goodall on the podcast.
I respect an expert when they say they don’t know. It legitimises everything else they say
No deaths? No alphas there just a bunch of Betas LARPing
Not a lot of people know this but the scientific name for these groupings is called “gangs” and typically they are either called “crips” or “bloods” to differentiate them.

Some cracking Monkey News for Karl Pilkington… If you know, you know
Anyone else notice how joes wearing a shirt that refers to a monkey while talking to this guy, joe already knew what questions he wanted to ask
"Do chimps learn from successful leaders?" Do humans learn from successful leaders?
What episode is this ?
I wish Attenborough would do the rogan show if he has I've never seen it , but itd be good
He has
@@EarthalienCS I thought he had but couldn't remember
He is a fibber. Can't trust anything he says.
Rise of the warrior apes is a documentary that covers the exact troop of chimps the guy is talking about you, there were over 200 plus members of the troop when they were at their peak which is crazy because they never go In troops of over 50
I finished watching a Conan and Jordan clip and clicked this immediately.
This is a hell of ah comedy show!!!!
Good Stuff
Joe should go on one of the research trips. 😊
Cant miss this
I remember a documentary about the first chimp he named whom rained for 10 years.
