  • Historically it was believed that the Himalayas were the great barrier across which there could be no invasion on India. Now it is proving to be so expensive to defend the great barrier itself. brig. JP Dalvi’s book “Himalayan Blunder” records that in 1962, our soldiers had to trek for seven days to reach McMahon line! India has come a long way from those pacifist days.

    • Not to put too fine a point on it but wasn't that around the time India used force to take Goa, Daman and Diu from the Portuguese? Not exactly a "pacifist" approach wouldn't you say? My comment is in no way related to the issue of road development or the conflict with China back in 1962, just the notion of pacifism. Cheers.

In 1950 s China had assured the World of autonomy for Tibet ( which pledge it has reneged ). The Tibetan Govt. in Exile has accepted India`s stand on the Boundary Issue with Chinese Occupied Tibet . • Thanks for your comment. One question, Where would you go if you were to die today? Seek the Lord and saviour Jesus Christ before it's too late. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Hell is real and Heaven is also real. You don't want to spend an eternity in Hell torment without God. The only way to escape Hell is to follow Jesus Christ our Lord and saviour. Study the KJV Bible to know more and pray and seek until you find Jesus. Don't delay tomorrow might be too late. You are not promised even the next minute. Do it now

  • This project is very crucial for defence as well as devlopment and road connectivity for people living in this region. Until now there is no proper road connectivity in the northern border region of the state. People have to walk for a day in some place three days...so you can understand the current situation. We people of Arunachal welcome the step taken by Modi govt.and hope speedy completion of project....well it will be a great challenge to complete as constructing road in Arunachal is a complete different game..and maintenance will be a tougher job. Hope it will be constructed by BRO , local MLA's and contractors are just grabbing money and no proper work can be expected.

This ~$70Billion (~₹6LCr) investment, will generate additional $4Trillion (~₹340LCr) of GDP every year after completion..!!

    • @@nithishthomas1514 I think those kinds of roads are already there or are in the process of making. This road seems like a road for quick mobalisation along the border otherwise the terrains in AP is such that you will have to move around the mountains to go from one point on the border to another point. If they connect this road to other roads so that they act as multiple entry and exist points then that would be beneficial and some of those entry and exist roads should be tunnel roads and from what I understand this is exactly what they are planning i.e. a quick mobalisation road along the border (it looks close on map but its not that close) with multiple entry and exist points.

My humble suggestion to Central govt.and honourable minister Mr Kiran Rijiju to ensure tourism in this area from all parts of India that will help raise their standard of living and enrich confidence among locals as well as tourists.

  • When the resolution of sovereignty of Arunachal Pradesh is finally achieved, Indian would’ve wished that they had instead invested in the infrastructure on the Southern boundary. When the 1962 war is re-enacted at a later date, and a peace settlement occurs, the top half, if not the whole of this province, will revert to China. China will not allow itself to be bullied again as it did when it was at it weakest in 1912, by the British, only to a boisterous India who is usurping other former provinces of the former NE Frontier, like Nagaland and Manipur which claim they were not colonies of the British, but had invited the British to administer them before 1947. In fact Nagaland sought independence from Britain in 1946, on hearing the impending granting of Indian Independence. There has been a civil war in Nagaland from 1947 to this day, in their fight to dissociate itself from India and have its own sovereignty. India, today appears to mimic by its actions, what it was as a victim to Britain. If India was not as prone to pampering to its emotion and be pragmatic, it wouldn’t take on unnecessary territorial disputes to distract her from her greater objective of becoming a Super Power in the future. Maybe, India will have a future leader of greater vision who will not allow petty aspirations to impede its greater future.
