Oh man the combination of music and fight scenes still to this day gives me chills
Same... I was 4 years old... I m 31 now... Still my preferite!
I'm 47 I remember this film when it was new, I still love the film to this day . Great training montage
Me too brother takes me back, they don't make stuff like this anymore!
Yep!! I get goose bumps!! This movie made me get into Thai Boxing!! Always been an inspiration!! Only thing missing is Xian as my trainer!! Haha
Cold facts
Mentioning his brother was a fantastic tactic because he knew Kurt would get so angry, because anger can block out pain for a short amount of time, hence why Kurt felt no pain when he kicked down the tree until afterwards.
For real!
Muay Thai fighter in Asia does that as part of their training.
I love this movie! And every van damme film, but I think that would have seriously f’d his leg up 😂
@@Theworldhasgonenuts487 in real life lol
It wasn't just anger. The whole purpose of training was to fight Tong Po. The whole purpose of fighting Tong Po, was to get revenge for his brother. He needed to be reminded of his purpose. Once he remembered, his goal was clear. And he stopped holding back.
This movie actually brings out some raw emotions in me and takes me back to the good days,, no doubt JCVD is the best
Just after Bruce Lee.
Agree I think jcvd is the best martial arts movie star ever. His classic films such as this ,bloodsport, cyborg, lionheart, hard target, double impact, death warrant, universal soldier and many more. Legend of a man
There's every doubt, he plainly isn't the best and never was you've just not seen that many martial arts films.
2:15 always gives me chills. After overcoming the fear of kicking the tree, Kurt felt much more powerful.
Good thing it wasn't an oak tree. 😆
@jonathanc4166 Every time I yank a sapling oak from my garden I yell Hiyaaa!
@@jonathanc4166oak trees are the best to kick with the shin...😅😂 Gotta do it Van Damme Style..."BLAAAHHHH!!!"
those were the best years to have been alive in. the 1980s and the 1990s life was simply amazing, and held such a sense of wonder and awe.
The last few decades before the acceleration of cultural decline and hubristic foreign policy of regime change that facilitated the ongoing downfall of the West.
I absolutely agree
I miss it so much.
cheap houses, cheap energy, high employment. Today is dystopic
Pain is a good thing,it lets you know your still alive.
And you wouldn’t know that there’s something wrong with you without it, Which could lead to making things worse
One of the greatest soundtrack in martial arts history !
If that scene doesnt give you fkn goosebumps you dont have a heart.
Absolutely does for me... It reves me up to conquer my training in the gym. Just this scene alone...it's incredible 😊😊😊
Although he's supposed to be learning Muay Thai. That scene after he hurts his leg is 100 percent kata from Karate. He does it so gracefully
For sure. Van Damme is 2nd Dan Black belt in Karate.
Millennials, behold the best of the 80s.
they will never know the joy of going to video store and renting this, keep rewinding to the fight scenes, and then the day before realizing its almost time to return the movie for a late fee.
they don't deserve it. :)
@@mikemailei4491 What device did you old folks use to watch this movie?
@@MC-mh2ju VCR
@@mikemailei4491 Ain't that swell.
The 80s 😎
Best fighting movie of all time! JCVD one of a kind there will be nobody like him. Such a LEGEND
Best fighting movie really? Bold statement
I prefer Bloodsport over Kickboxer. both great though.
@@ninjavigilante5311Its certainly one of the best.
When the music starts 👌I remember having this on tape when I was a child.. still one of the best martial arts movies ever made
Even the old distorted sound during this scene on vhs is 🔥
@@el_huffstergames7842 brilliant. It was epic
Sitting down, pushing the rickety vhs tape into a big box player and watching this through an old tube tv with half decent speakers was the best... jesus... I really am a product of a bygone age that'll never come again. Van Damme wasn't my favourite, but he was definitely one of the best. Another one of those 'right place right time' foreign voiced success stories you wont get anymore 🤷♂️ Im just glad I was around to see it the way it was 🙂
Still my favourite movie of all time. Unforgettable. So many memories.
Van dam makes the most iconic fighting sounds!
Don't care how cheesy this is now lol I wanted to be van damme so bad when I first watched this. Such an epic action film. Love the music after he kicks the tree and the training really begins.
These training exercises do seem to make so much sense to boost your skill and abilities. Kicking underwater- for faster kicks since you're doing it against resistance, kicking the tree- for harder kicks, stretching legs- for longer reach, dropping coconuts for resistance to hits, etc. The sticks poking at him- for speed. More people should train this way it seems, cept maybe the tree.
Look on youtube some of these people in countries like in this movie really kick bamboo and there's a girl I've seen who strengthened her shins so thick with splints I believe They are called she can kick concrete pillars. How hardcore is she right?
@@acetech9237 just since it's a movie I'd want some proof you can actually do it without breaking your leg. I wanted to see if anyone has actually knocked down the tree like in this video.
@@thesnare100 search Girl kicks concrete Pillars
@@thesnare100 don’t kick trees. Just kick heavier bags. It will do more damage than good.
@@thesnare100 Young banana trees aren't solid wood. It's way different from trying to kick an oak tree.
This brings me peace for some reason. The tree does represent challenges
Still the greatest film EVER! Even Bloodsport. The music behind is sensational...i use it when im at the gym.
When someone drops a dumbbell on their foot, i tell them: You bleed like Mai Li.
@@edntz Mai Lee good fuck! 🤣😅
It's amazing what one will do for their loved ones. Hence kicking a tree😫😫
That 360 kick really can send you to another dimension. I love jcvd
I admire the people who use their bodies properly in this life. Van Damme is one of them.
Still perhaps the best 80s martial arts movie ever made? The soundtrack especially made it golden.
Jean Claude bro you put so much in this movie, not just your entire body but your entire soul, respect
That is the memory of my childhood. Watching that sequence and then try the moves out.
Still get the goosebumps 2021 amazing
Look at the mentor smiling after he know he got a champ/diamond to polish up.💎 3:31 mentor take a step back. 😂
Wonderful movie ! The golden period of the 80s !
LThis video gave me the motivation to fight back against a loser that was bugging me in school. Lets just say he never bugged me again. Thx JCVD
As a kid kicking down the bamboo was a badass scene and when I got older I used to think kicking down that bamboo was impossible and was just theatrical, but in that country there are real fighters who have strengthened their legs so much they even kick concrete pillars. How fucking bad ass is that!
I thought it was a banana tree? Banana trees have a softer trunk and are often used for martial arts training in SE Asia.
@@Intranetusa it is. As a man with 20 years of shin conditioning under his belt I'd love to see anyone kick down a bamboo tree
That was my first Van Dame movie I saw when I was a kid back in 1992 since then I was in love with Van Dame! He's a great actor, a great fighter and a great person!!!
Any reason you don't have that as a classic in your collection you simply didn't know about it! Great 👍 martial art 🥋 movie 🎥
Raymond Ferdinand Exactly treu, my sister in law hand over a VHS tape with a illigal copy of this movie, later the marketing started.
Me too
It was also the first Van Damme movie I saw!
Me: I really don't feel like going training tonight I'm tired from work and I just need to sleep *watches this* Me: LETS GOOOOOOOOO
still to this day one of my alltime absolute favorite movies...for about thirty years now i get an annual urge/need to watch this movie...i never tire of it because its legit lit...it never fails to get me all kinds of ampd...🙏🙏🙏
One of the best physics Hollywood has ever brought on screens
I grew up watching this guy , love him
Tree scenes looks very real
I caught this movie when I was about 8 years old. This scene carved out a deep path in a young mind... Lessons on the will to act.
Van damme kicks and the sound he makes go hand in hand with epicness
To this day nothing ever beaten kickboxer for me, it’s between this and the lost boys as my all time favourite! Watched them both as a kid!
Everytime my workout weeks going bad I come back here and get motivated...thanks
the same thing, bro
Im sat at my work bench right now ile go untill it breaks
Still one of the rawest scenes ever
Classic just great and still
Still so inspirational..
this movie is underrated as fuck
the tree scene gives me thrills everytime i wtch it! very good idea from the director
The music, the martial arts = Chills.
Still to this day one of van dammes best
One of van damme classics still watching over and over 2020
*iyi seyirler.. ;-)*
2:15 This gives me chills every time!
Still my favorite martial arts movie
this one and blood sport are #1
+Frank Barker Definetly. Both are classics
Total 80's kid here. Shit was so badass backthen and still brings back so many memories.
I prefer Bloodsport
yeah but i always watch these films for the fighting. bloodsport rocks too.. even better than this imo.
Seriously one of the best scenes ever!
Best film of all time you never see anything like that these days
One of the best movie i have ever seen in my life, incredible sound music
Martial arts masterpiece..
Auch nach dem 100sten mal angucken bekomme ich Gänsehaut
Some of the best editing done. Never doubted once that Van Damme kicked a tree over.
What can be more inspirational... 👍🏼
The best film ever! Respect to Jean Claude Van Damme..been watching him since I was a kid..
JCVD was, no, is still my dad's favorite.. He's the who introduced me to him, Stallone, Willis, and all the 80s action heroes.. And say what you want about VD's habits later, he had a physique 🥃✊🏾
Ah yes… Kickboxer is a great film from Van Damme. Legendary MMA fighter Mirko Cro Cop, was inspired by Jean-Claude Van Damme. Cro Cop was also like a real life action hero. His famous quote is “Right leg, hospital. Left leg, cemetery.” Meaning that his left kick to the head was the most feared kick in MMA. Muay Thai is an amazing martial arts, as well. I just started doing Muay Thai, this year.
I m 33....i was 4 when i saw this movie amd started tae kwando because how much i loved Jean, even now i love him and always be a fan of him... Unfortunately i didn t trained anymore and now i m so sad.... I was very talented because of him till 10 years old.... How i can go back to do the same things and be called the son of Jean!... Cheers to all the fans🍻
I was 4 years old when this movie released...Vandamme is my hero!!!
now thats how you unlock your full potential
Harmony of work, image and music just can't express in words.
Van Damme's muscle definition and insertions were elite, he could have left the film set, walked onto a bodybuilding stage and won his weight class with ease lmao
Something special. Ageless movie 👊🏼
Van Damme put everything into this movie.
the tree scene i have watched it miljions of time since am little and i will Watch this even if am 50 in 20 years god damn
Old dude was like “damn, son...”
I remember my brothers and I reenacting all these JCVD movie fight/training scenes. They are still a big hit at the family get togethers. I'm glad hes still doing movies, We seriously watch them all.
I always liked how Xian kind of trolls Kurt at times during his training.
2:40 just by looking somehow I feel this in my soul.
This and blood sport have too be the best fight films of the 80's. Along with the music really hits home how good he was when it all started
Everyone thinks they train hard until they have to kick a tree down
Classic movie! Classic scenes!!!
I mirrored Van Damme’s moves as a kid. Guy was the man
We will never see another human kick like he does.. amazing
Wong Cheng li is even crazier! Roy huron who discovered van damme laughed when was asked if van damme can kick like he does... what made van damme is the charisma and flexibility.

The real definition of training every part of your body
this movie was my favorite when i was little kid...used to watch it every day atleast once...good times!
They don't make movies like this anymore
3:02 - loved that shot and the music.
All time favourite childhood movie!
A model for young boys, in 2022 no one could nevers be as cool as Johnny Cage : Mortal Kombat is dedicated to his Master Class ;)
Excellent Flow training 🙏
He is the best
When van damme was in his prime
I like that scream when he Gave that kick
I remember being 8 years old copying hes kicks loved this film
It was this very scene that led me to become the greatest Jenga Champion of all time. Uh huh! Won all city prep 3 time runnin' Champ thanks to Mr. Jean Claude( Frank Deux) VanDame . Thank you brother for your most awesome ninja tiger moves!
my train music, gets me going more everytime i think i drained.... Just love this move
One of the best martial arts movies. We don't get to watch such movies these days. Today's actors only take steroids and build muscles. Or we get to watch over actions. Today's heros beat more than 100 guys, very unrealistic action.
The Best Kickboxer Movie i habe ever seen😍😍
Brilliant! Best of the best! Absolute super thank you for your art master Van Damme.
My best movie ever and best training scenes ever made.
I hit my toe on the bed frame and I was crying in pain for 20 minutes... 😱😨
