3 Turbo every day 🤙🏼
Mazda 3! Interiors so nice
If Mazda had the Mazda3 Turbo in 2019, I would’ve gotten that. But they didn’t, so I’m currently watching my GTI get dusted by a Mazda3 Turbo.
I have a Mazda 3 Turbo 😊
With the performance of the Mazda, on top of it being less money, and their focus on luxury feel/interior... I think I'd have to go with the M3
Can't go wrong with either of these choices, but that said...I traded in my 2016 GTI SE for a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo premium hatch. Other than reduced visibility in the rear, (rearview mirror is near useless) no regrets...Mazda made a great little car.
I love them both too. If Mazda had a DSG is would be ridiculous. Still lean more on the VW side since I have one but Mazda is quality no doubt about it
Really depends what you want. It’s like comparing an Audi A3 to the GTI. The GTI is much more performance oriented. Stiffer suspension, sway bars, bigger brakes, quicker steering rack, LSD, and stickier tires. While the A3 and Mazda are quieter, more comfortable, and more luxurious inside. The Mazda 3 Turbo is not a performance variant.
I'm German and I'll take the Mazda over the GTI anyday. The looks, the quality, the RELIABILITY.. There is no GTI that can match those criteria. I've got an 2014 mazda 3 with over 200000miles and never ever had a single thing failing. It runs like on day one.
@@Kevin-rf9sx I don't know about Europe, but in the past few years Mazda's entire lineup has either been tops or near the top for reliability among all car makers, so I agreed...and actually voted with my money by swapping a GTI for a Mazda 3 turbo hatch. My GTI wasnt exactly a reliability nightmare to own, but it was probably second most troublesome car that I've ever owned. Having said that, it only left me stranded once when the factory battery decided to suddenly discharge overnight when it was fine the day before, and then a laundry list of other minor annoyances either related to poor design or factory quality control.
Bought this exact car (Mazda3 Sport Gt Turbo, all black) a couple weeks ago. I love it.
Enjoy
Ive been loving my polymetal grey turbo hatch. I live in a city so im just zoom zoomin' light to light. The low end torque feels so nice for a 4cyl turbo.
No tune or aftermarket parts are out there for it right?
@@v8_sami corksport has a few parts and jb4 has a few tunes. They are just being released though. I'll keep mine stock for a bit.

A very well done drag race. I appreciate the disclosure of what fuels you ran. I love the attention to detail. Good on Ian’s Mazda😂 it rips

I’m glad you demonstrated the difference between regular and premium in the GTI. My 2019 GLI has the exact same transmission and engine. Whenever people tell me premium doesn’t make a difference in my GLI, I show them this video. Plus I notice a difference in mpg too.

I found it faster to put the gti in sport with launch control off. Launch control pulls power from the engine to keep traction making the car slower in the 60ft. It is easier to make a few practice passes and perfect launching with traction control off.

So for almost every day driving the Mazda 3 is better and probably more reliable too.
Did you happen to throw the Mazda 2 Turbo into sport mode with premium gas at any point? This is amazing.
Hey Jose, The Mazda 3 Turbo was in sport mode for every race except the first race and it was running 93 premium octane.
I noticed on mine that it needs at least 50 miles when you go from 91 octane to 93 octane for the computer to adjust. Then you really feel the difference.
I have to agree with other comments here, ur Mom sounds like a very cool Mom ! Driving a VW GTI in the cornflower blue no less !
Maybe I should meet up with her. Probably the same age and I drive a Golf R :) Match made in VW heaven lol
i'm confused on the last race why a Mazda 3 Sport vs a truck? When would they race against each other?
I love the video But to me drag race makes no sense, especially on fwd it is fun to do once or twice, but it is never about the driver. Mostly you can foresee the race results just from the paper (when it's not about tires)
Gotta love St Thomas Dragway
So.. does the new Mazda not have a "Sport Mode" anymore? I've got a 2017 version 2.5litre and it has sport Mode. If it does why doesn't the video show a race with Mazda's sport mode on?
Sport mode was turned on for every race except the first one.
Imagine if the mazda had 8-speed.
Exactly!!! That’s what I say about my lol but the 6 speed is tuned great for this car.
Mazda's coming out with a DCT on the Cx60. Doubt they'd put it in the three, but it'd be hilarious

U know you're doing something wright when the views are higher than the subscribers. I know u can put lower octane in these cars, but u should never do it. Buy the base model if you want good gas mileage on cheap octane. Loved the video.
There's nothing wrong with using 87 (at least in the GTI). The car is tuned to handle both octanes (unlike many years prior), however, if you want advertised mileage and performance, 91 is the way to go. It may also improve longevity. I however, always stick to 91 in my GTI :)
Mazdaspeed 3 needs to come back!
The ram vs the Mazda though, big flex for Mazda 💪 lol I have a question actually that I hope someone can answer for me :) What determines the top speed of a car?
Top speed can be dictated by a couple different factors. In most cases it is the point where the car's horsepower is fully consumed by drag (air resistance) and other types of friction. The faster you go the more drag. So a car that is more aerodynamic can typically go faster for a given amount of horsepower. In other situations it will be due to electronic speed limiters that manufacturers put in to keep cars from going too fast. It can also be due to gearing. And finally in some cases it will hit redline in top gear and simply can't go any faster without better gearing.
Bruh Fr when he pulled in front I was like 😬😬🤫🤫

If he thought that 2nd race with premium fuel in both cars was a neck and neck race then he's fucking giraffe
The 6 speed auto in the Mazda really pulls it back, specially when compared to the GTi's DSG, I'd imagine the Mazda would be much quicker with a more modern transmission... and I have the Mazda3 Turbo, it really doesn't bother for everyday use, it is just the fact of knowing that the engine capable of so much better
Honestly a good ecu tune, like from dr.tuned, or Versa tune. Will change the gearing, unlock power thats hidden, and make this a totally different beast. Mazda gave this a very safe and economic tune out of the factory even though the power train can definitely take more.

Mazda3 vs Wrx. 🔥 next challenge
What was the estimated time?
Very different results than those from Sam CarLegion. I'm sure there are many variables at play, but to me it really shows the importance of being able to launch a certain car well.
Yes, Sam CarLegion did not have 93 octane in the Mazda tho. Premium fuel makes a big difference on both of the cars.
@@ianmcalpine 93 octane vs 91 doesnt make the difference from that video. Running on 91 my mazda beats a new gti (my coworker got one) off the line easily due to AWD. Rolling race is a different story but in Sam CarLegion's video the GTI won off the line which makes 0 sense.
@@nicolaskennedy4285 probably had the insanely overreacting traction control programmed off. My MK7 GLI (same powertrain as the GTI) can barely spin the tires in first gear with 330WHP since traction control interferes so heavily. Even in second gear it can get super invasive.

Definitely not
This guy doesn't know what neck and neck means....but I do appreciate the short and sweet video as opposed to the 20min camera time on the host all other channels have.
I meant after the gap of the launch was set, there was no net difference after that. Ya hate those long drawn out drag race vids.
I've said on other channels, Mazda isn't playing!
Well that mazda3 does have an extra 70lbs more of torque and AWD so having more power off the line was kinda expected
big channel energy lol
next time please also try swapping the lanes for traction
Off camera we did quite a few practice runs from different spots, the results were always similar.
I love that blue on the GTi but everything else the Mazda hands down especially since it will last so many years longer -sooo much more reliable as the VM will fall part years before been there some that with BMW’s and Audi’s and VMW’s I’d never go back to those German cars unless I get a record deal and can throw money away like nothing on their outrageous not worth it repairs then maybe, I just might give those brands a shot again. lol 😂
I have and love my GTI I want to like the Mazda but the interior is just boring and NO vents for the backseat?
Volks GTI and GLI on the roll are something.
The AWD makes a huge diffrence.I have a 2020 Stinger and out of the box I shame many cars that you would think it could not.If you jump 2 car lengths or so out of the gate--another car would need at least 100 HP or so to catch up.I have my videos on here--I raced 500 plus HP cars last drag and none were able to make up the distance off the line--if you have a RWD car and spin in any way off the line--you will need a ton of HP.I can get hellcats out of the gate and in some cases still ahead at the 1/8--but once it hooks up and 700 HP hits the pavement--all I can do is watch the back end get smaller and smaller.NA american muscle cars like a normal cgallenger 392 just does not have the HP to catch a stinger once it gets 2 or 3 car lengths ahead. Also go look at top speed runs--many german--cars are governed to 155--even many AMG and M cars. Many american muscle cars top out in the 160s also--stingers also have and advantage with a 167 mph top end that is governed--but still faster then many cars.
The Stinger is pretty quick, but pretty much every auto magazine that has tested them found that the RWD model was quicker than the AWD model, both in 0-60 and 1/4 times. Most also said the RWD steering was much better, and that it was more agile and fun to drive. I've considered buying a Stinger GT, but I live in Florida, so have no need for AWD vehicles, and would opt for the less expensive RWD version.
@@chuckd7423 In 2020 KIA did "enhanced shift logic improvements to 2020 AWD models making them just as fast as the fastest RWD models.I ran a 4.2 to 60 and a 12.7 in the 1/4 last time I went to public drag.I have the videos on here that you can check out. I ran those times with no launch control,I live in GA and the AWD helps in thunderstorms we have--like the one I just drove in a few minutes ago.BTW I watched videos and every video I looked at with AWD stingers--2 testers had the car in comfort mode while running laps.I have 100 hours of track time and the stingers AWD--once you go thru the computers becomes a weapon--I can enter turns at several MPH faster then RWD cars and mid turn I can punch it and the computer will bolt the car out of a corner.I also have geomet cross drilled and vented rotors on the car paired with the brembo--and a welded straight pipe exhaust--so i have my car set up for the track without affecting the warranty. My 12.7 was .4 sec faster then a RWD 2019 that was in my stinger club when he ran and my trap speed was 3 mph faster--my 1/8th speed was 2 mph faster. The AWD system is only 140 lbs and they put it in a spot to keep the car balanced.
What octane was used for premium?
93 octane
Same tires?
So the video showed the difference between two wheel drive and awd.
142 thumbs down that's 142 persons with gti's
The Mazdas are great, but the aftermarket support for the GTI is absolutely insane. They’re stupid fast with mods.
how did the Turbo AWD lost to a non turbo fwd on a rolling race?
They both have turbos, but the Mazda has an old school 6-speed transmission whereas the GTI as a 7 speed DSG (it shifts better).
I honestly think if the mazda3 didn’t have the extra weight of the AWD and was a pure FWD it’d walk that VW all day
Most people:”I love the Mazda 3 3rd and 4th gen” Aftermarket:”….” TELL ME IM WRONG!!!

Did you tell your mom that you took her car to the track😁
I don't know. Maybe the ECU in that GTi has learned to take it easy based on the way the your mom drives it. The fact that she's running regular in it leads me to believe she doesn't care about squeezing out every last ounce of performance. This matchup should be much closer than this - both cars test 0-60 in 6 seconds and 14.5 1/4 mile, and we're not talking about trying to launch a Hellcat here, the GTi isn't going to spin it's tires all the way down the track...anfd I'm saying this as someone who would choose the Mazda over this GTi.
