2 more things; 1. Can come with a tow hitch but only on SR+ and LR, not the performance (although there are a handful out there) 2. Come with 3 pin and a 16a commando by default (not 32a like earlier UMCs), plus type 2-2 cable.
How often do you see user M3s with a tow hitch? The seem quite rare.
@@johnsingleton320 i didnt see many with a tow hitch asw
@@johnsingleton320 Here in Norway 95% of all LR are sold with tow hitch, so here it is unusual not to have it!
Don't think they come with the 16a commando, my LR didn't. I did get a heated steering wheel though
@@johnsingleton320 yes quite rare. I’ve got two in stock now but fairly unusual. Would be good to know what ratio. I’d guess one in 30 perhaps?
If you're buying from a dealer, and you suspect they don't know what they're doing... Ask them about the last oil change, you'll know what to do with the answer.
@@justcows7772 😂😅, just took delivery of my model 3 on Monday... No extra charges.. yet...
my tesla gets regular oil changes
@@justcows7772 Just read this article. It sounds terrible. Paying twice and then getting no response and virtually no help from Tesla is tantamount to theft.!
Huh?
@@justcows7772did not happen to me. Sorry for you buddy bad luck
At last. The definitive Model 3 buyer's guide. Thanks Richard.
A month of watching video’s and this is by far the most informative and helpful. Thanks you.
A thorough overview of all Model 3 variant in one video, thanks!
I love the Tesla soo much, not gotten the car yet but got some of its stock doing good on lock.
If TSLA stock can manage growing at the same CAGR as it's done since IPO in 2010 (~60%), it will 10x over the next 5 years... so $7000/share in 2025. While I think the chance of this happening is less than 10% -- Tesla's financial performance still needs to grow into its current valuation -- Tesla (like Amazon) will trade "rich" (trailing P/E >100) until it's no longer in hypergrowth "mode". How long until that happens
I wonder what the best opportunities to invest are now, There are lots of opinions but a little later I find out these opinions don't matter as a totally different turn of events play out with the stocks they discussed therein.
@@morganpearse9294 it is very possible to make good profits from the current market condition, the market might seem volatile, but most professional look up to the volatility, I work with Burk Wayne Rowley, a well experienced trading business consultant that helped me make the right market choices and I was able to grow my portfolio from its initial value of about $50k to $94k within three months.
EV stocks investing is a sure way to secure one's financial future as it stands, given the volatility of the market .
@@julianwright5986 I just did a google search on Burk Wayne Rowley, and his work is quite astonishing I can't believe he has so much experience, I sent him a message using the mail I found on his website.
THANK YOU for that little in-app recording of the upgrade screen. Thanks to that, this video is now the only source I've been able to find that references the after-purchase upgrade price of autopilot. It is so hard to find that info lol
Enjoyed the video, and many others. Thanks for pointing out the not so good as its key in looking at with any car when going to buy. Cheers from Canada!
The most complete video about Tesla Model 3. Thank you.
This is pribably the best, most comorehensive video I've seen on this topic!

Thanks. Great video….I realize I’m late to the party. 😂. Getting a used M3 in a few days from Tesla….I know what to look for now thanks to you. 🙏🏻
This is really helpful, thanks
Thanks great video with good tips to look for.
Really helpful and informative video I am looking to replace my Range Rover L405 SE with a Tesla model 3. Range issues not a problem but having comparable tech and comfort is. Video answers many of my questions.
I just wanted to let you know I really enjoyed your teachings oh, and I found out you were where you are located. I guess I'll just have to listen to everything you have and learn what I can. But thanks to your teachings oh, there's so much to look for. Again I really appreciate your help God bless you and your family
Great video very informative
Looking at a 3 year old one...New to Evs and these seem to be the best. The used market is crazy with these
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks!
No worries thanks. Any other questions just ask...
Great review of the Model 3
Wow… just thought I’d look at a used Tesla but only have £25,000 to play with , but I really enjoyed your video and thank you for sharing your immense knowledge… will check your other videos out now … cheers matey ..
Really good buyers guide.!
Excellent video 👍
This video is much needed! Awesome work!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Wish you guys had a place over in California. Btw you forgot to mention the Long Range was offered in RWD for a while, although I don't know if those ever sold in the UK
Very helpful videos.
Thank you very helpful video
Excellent and very useful summary. Have referred it to a number of pals. Still haven't found out whether the new 18" aero covers fit the pre 2021 cars - any idea? Thank you.
Really great video.
Love your videos, and they helped a lot! I would appreciate your opinion, I'm looking at M3LR, 09/2020, with 14.000km and I love one MS P70, 2015, with 75.000km - price is very very similar, what would you recommend? I know MS is older car, but free Supercharger and condition looks really great.
Thanks for the great video! Shopping g for a used M3 atm, wish I could buy from you but I'm in Melbourne, Australia. Hope I can find a decent dealer around here! Or at least someone knowledgeable enough to look over a privately for sale car. Thanks again 🙏
Would it be possible to get an updated version of this before highland arrives? Would be nice to get the differences of each 2019/2020/2021/2022/2023 models for us looking at used models now.
Great video!
Great content! Thank you! What about the wood trim? I saw a Model 3 MID with the wood dash and it looks like fake wood. How does it compare with Fremont cars?
What a great video!
We love spacex & we just got our S dual motor fsd while the tri/4? motor fsd cybertruck gets here. i'm all in TSLA & i love all Elon Musk does & will keep doing..we've drove from California to Boca Chica to see the Star Ship & it was so awesome to see it getting built in person!! we have LOTS of SOLAR & backup battery system to charge them both
16:33 me too! It means a lot.
Really good video, I'm coming from Carwow of course ;) Would be great to add chapters here since there's a lot of info here! greets, Mario
excellent video.
If not mentioned, probably the biggest problem with Model 3, in my opinion, is what I can only describe as a design flaw in the A/C system of the early Model 3s (not sure if they ever fixed it) that results in vinegar-like smells when the car gets about 1 or 2 years old, and it generally requires yearly A/C clean-outs to prevent. Cleaning out the A/C requires new filters and something like Klima cleaner reapplied on a roughly yearly basis.
Great vid as always. Would you be able to do a vid on high milage examples? Depreciation, battery concerns, battery longevity etc
I was hoping this would be in this video so yes this would be useful 👍
My Model 3 has now 150,000 km on GOM. Upper control arms front susp. retrofit, 2 door stop tape front, oil change on both drive units at 100,000 km. Oil on my free will, but rear would have been enough, due to the oil analysis done by Oilcheck de. Brakes around changed due to rust. You do want to buy "Se_y Buttons" to set the recuperation from 100% to 25%. Then the factory brakes stay clean and last (nearly) "forever". Battery is fine, as I 99% charge to 70-80% only. Rare HPC/SuC.
Watch some Out Of Spec videos. They have a 2019-2020 Model 3 Performance with over 230.000km. Battery degradation is around 13% I think. It still holds up really well I think.
You get Track Mode in the P3- too.
Great videos wish you were in the states
Thanks very informative I will look out where you are located
Can guys great vids! Any chance of a house EV charger best option getting my tesla in September 🤞
Very good video. I have noticed New model 3's not much more than used.
Hi Richard - Thanks for the comprehensive video! Out of interest, is the 'phantom braking' issue still a thing? I'm a potential M3LR/ M3P buyer that is pretty nervous about this and I'm in the initial research phase of my buying journey...
2 weeks to go on my delivery. I'm too excited lol 😆
Can you do an updated video for tesla, with updates and long range rwd
I actually purchased a model 3 and last min I changed to a model y! I love the model y no regrets! Expect I have a few issues they need to fix but I’m happy with my decision
LOL! Yeah, that's standard that Teslas have fit and finish problems. And it takes forever to get them fixed if even they offer to fix it. Service is Tesla's downfall.
@@joeking433 my comment didn’t age very well as I got rid of my model y and purchased a bmw 540i lol
@@albertoleon4754 Really? My daughter is going to buy the i4. What do you think of the 540i? How does it compare to the model y? I think the BMW EV's are worth at least twice what a Tesla costs! And that i4 is the sharpest looking car on the road! And it's relatively cheap compared to Musk's little cars.
@@joeking433 comparison to the 540i isn’t a fair as own is a sedan and one is an suv but compared to quality and ride and driving 100% 540i wins! I didn’t even own my Model Y for a a year until I sold it. I had to many issues they couldn’t resolve and I wasn’t happy. Service center visits didn’t help either. And yes the i4 is an amazing car I actually test drive it not to long ago. I would have definitely switched and gotten then i4 myself if I could have at the time but they didn’t really have any when I went to purchase my vehicle. I just fell in love with the 540i the moment i saw it
Great information, didn’t realise that factoid about the brakes. I’ve ordered a new M3P in New Zealand about a week ago and was figuring on using the brakes once in a blue moon just so the issues you mentioned don’t occur, but that’s unnecessary. As you would know, Tesla are constantly making changes to the cars often without telling anyone, one of the big changes to the Performance that occurred in 2021 (late 21 early 22) was Tesla no longer offered the lowered suspension.
When you have a full charge you will need your brakes, as it wont slow down otherwise.
A recent update, this is from Tesla. “Your car can now automatically apply regular brakes for consistent deceleration when regenerative braking is limited due to battery temperature or state of charge." But the company did leave this as a preference, and the option can be turned off. You can activate it under Controls > Pedals & Steering.”
Hi, I have to say I love your videos, full of information and straight to the point. Can you supply a link to where you get the alcantara dash and door card overlays from or who you use to fit them? Any information would be appreciated as like you, we also find that the wood finish is out of place. Keep up the great videos!
I just got 280 miles out of my 2022 M3 RWD on all motorway driving. I’ll post a video up shortly but it’s amazing how efficient the new 2022 RWD is compared to old standard range and bigger battery helps.
Meh. Don't bother.
Thanks for the vid. Unless I missed it, I didn’t hear you mention the limited silver color that was available for a while. I wish you guys were here in the states, I’ve been looking for a reputable used Tesla dealer.
Titanium metallic..? Thanks for kind comments
Thanks that was a great detailed overview :) Question: has the new 2021 got heated steering wheel now?
My 2021 US model has heated steering wheel
Great video! You prepare the cars better than Tesla! 👌🏻
Thanks, and yep!
Very comprehensive Richard. I notice all your M3 have had their registration plates aesthetically enhanced. Are you just using the same screw fixings in the car where the original black Tesla carriers would mount, with matching holes drilled in the Perspex plates? Looks so much better..
Yes that’s usually what we do. Hate that surround...! Used to stick on, but they eventually fall off.
@@RSEV thanks Richard.
Great video. Does the performance have 450bhp or 483? I keep seeing on Autortrader some have 450 some have 483, is the 483 model an upgrade?
Thanks.
What about premium audio? Which cars bring it. Is it standard on those cars? Can I upgrade the audio thru Tesla like the processor on the mode s? How can I tell which car has premium audio installed. Also how does it compare to the plaid premium audio. Other than that great video🤝🏽
Really enjoyed this as a driving instructor do quite bit of refreshers in Tesla’3. I’m sure lot my clients didn’t realise standard wheels there’s nice alloy under there! I also thought long range did at least 320 miles?
Plastic aero covers are worth 5 miles range!
Im jealous 😂 one day I’ll get that car 🤞🏽💪🏿
I was about to buy one but then the grant removal along with the loan loss in Scotland seems like it's no longer worth it. Can just get something german for half the price. A real shame considering I was hyped for it. The maths just doesn't add up and now I'm gonna have to stay with ICE for at least 3 more years but I hope the german factory helps prices.
Rumour has it that crimson will be available from the Berlin factory possibly September 2021.
What are your thoughts on white interior?
Man oh man, I wish that enhanced autopilot was available in the USA. I’d probably pay for that, but I definitely can’t justify $10000 US for FSD, especially when it doesn’t work yet. Also wish we could get the tow hitch, but in the US, Tesla says the M3 cannot be used to towing. Makes me afraid to even get one of the aftermarket tow hitches since Tesla has a tendency to find any possible reason to avoid warranty coverage.
I would like to see a bigger colour range.
Thank you for making this video. Even though I am still not an owner I’ve been following Tesla since 2013. Even though I knew the Performance Model has track mode your enthusiasm and energy got me excited me when you said “and I’ll show you a little more of track mode in a moment”. 🥺
Fit and finish sucks, trust me, look elsewhere.
@@joeking433 it’s more of a celebration trophy milestone for me, it can definitely wait until the Tesla model 4 is revealed and there isn’t a chip shortage
@@Fanjita I can't wait that long, I'll be dead in 20 years, LOL!
I can't seem to find an answer. Apart from range and single motor, what is the difference between the LR and the RWD now on a TM3, in particular are the seats exactly the same between the two, there used to be , thanks.
Excellent video sir. I am indead looking at purchasing. Toying with a £40k Free for life model X, or a more modern 3 at £10k cheaper. What a dilema! Not keen on the small boot opening of a 3.
Great video, very informative. I still don't know what a SR+ is, maybe I missed it? LRP mentioned but is the range the same as LR? Range for performance model?
Model 3's come in 3 variants: Standard Range + (now called just Model 3)with a range of up to 260 Miles on the latest ones (LFP battery). The older ones before the end of 2021 will have a range of about 230-240. Long Range - does 300+ Miles Performance - does about 280-290 Miles on a full charge. They all changed over the years and the older ones will have a shorter range but still very decent and efficient cars.
@@RSEV Older SR+ was quickest. 0-60 in 5.3 and I've had 220 miles full indicated range for last 4 years.
Great video! Quick question re: efficiency: on the M3LR is there a significant reduction in efficiency if you opt for the 19 inch wheels rather than the default Aero wheels?
Just in case you're unaware, the aero part of the aero wheels is a wheel cover that can be popped off, revealing a nice alloy wheel beneath. As for your specific question, I would say the reduction in efficiency is negligible and not even noticeable.
The ride is really harsh with the larger wheels.
@@baylorairbear Aero covers worth 5 miles range per charge.
How about faults to lok out for. I test drove a model 3 L R 2020 with 76k. When it was parked,it made strange whirring noises, nobody knew what it was, maybe related to Aircon,I thought, but don't know if it's something to worry about?
Do the chinese M3'21 cars have the same larger 82Kw battery for performance versus LR?
You missed the one feature that has been removed - and that is absolutely critical to me as a one-eyed person - the original cars had ultrasonic sensors accurate to 1cm. Tesla still hasn't provided a replacement for parking, some 1 year on.
Hey Richard Is it wise to buy a 70k Tesla Model 3 if I am getting a 2019 model performance sub 40k. Thanks for your help
Are you having to fix many factory errors?
Very informatic.Huge thanks!
are Model 3 sold in the UK similar or the same as Model 3 in France or Germany?
Have you used third parties cluster displays?
I will be buying a used 2019/2020 Model 3 in the summer and have a question if that's ok. What's the best buy (if both vehicles were a similar price) out of a Standard Range Plus or a Long Range with a higher mileage?
When it comes to buying one with fsd or upgrade software packages, can't Tesla just remove those at any point as they aren't really sold with the car but the owner?
Dont you have a lr rwd also ?
You won't believe this. I bought a brand new Toyota C-HR 3 months ago. The car is fine but doesn't have the ' wow ' factor. Yesterday I placed a lease order on a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. I know I will lose money selling the Toyota. I don't have home charging because I live in a flat. My daily commute is a round trip of 6 miles and I pass a Tesla Supercharger on the way to work. Have I done the right thing ordering this car? Please tell me I'm not stupid. Subbed to your channel.
I've heard that the base model 3 uses lithium phosphate batteries, is this correct?
Thank you for another great video. Can I ask please how you mounted the registration plates on M3? I see you have removed the hideous plate holders but do you get it screwed to the car? Thanks
Why are the 0-60 times slightly slower in certain countries on the Tesla website , for example the performance 0-60 is 3.3 in Ireland but 3.1 in the UK website ?excellent video by the way thanks
Higher octane fuel
@@danpaul4975 lol ah that’s it .
In Ireland they use km and 0-100 kmh translates to 0-62 mph.
@@jsouto77 seems a lot for 2mph .2 of a second ,good point though

why charge the standard model 3 to 100% ? are the batteries different ?
Buying a used Tesla from Tesla directly comes with an important advantage: an additional 1 year / 20K km (10K miles) warranty after the regular warranty expires!
