► FERMER.RU continues to publish videos from the AgroExpedition in the Republic of Armenia. In this video we continue our acquaintance with the farm Navasard-Agro, this time we will watch sheep of the Dorper, Charolais, Frisian breeds on the summer pasture. The summer pasture is located in the mountains, at an altitude of 2135 meters above sea level near Lake Sevan.
► And the winter room is located much lower. Where winter quarters are now built, a Soviet collective farm used to be located, but over the years everything was destroyed, so we had to build from scratch. At the time of filming, 2 rooms of 1300 and 1700 square meters were built.
► The summer pasture of the Navasard-Agro farm is located at a distance of about 8 kilometers from the winter premises. Dorper, Frisian and Charolais sheep are raised here, and there are also Anglo-Nubian goats. The total number of small cattle is about 800 heads, of which the breeding stock is about 500 heads.
► Dorper sheep were brought to the farm from Germany for further breeding. The first slaughtering will be carried out according to the plan in 2023. For these purposes, its own slaughterhouse will be built.
► Sheep meat is in great demand in the neighboring Islamic Republic of Iran, so the main meat supplies will be there, as well as to Russia.
► Since chicken fat is not in great demand in Armenia, the choice of sheep breeds fell on meat breeds - dorper and Charolais.
► The Frisian, a dairy breed of sheep, is also kept in this territory. The most delicious national cheese, matsun, is made from their milk. The total number of sheep of this breed is about 200 heads, which have already brought the first lambing.
► In the farm, the average lambing is about 180 lambs per 100 ewes, this is a fairly high indicator. The first lambing of the dorpers was not easy enough, but in the future there should be no problems. And in the Frisian breed of sheep, even the first lambing was quite easy.
► The breed of Charolais sheep is a meat breed, their meat, as well as that of dorpers, does not have a specific smell and is considered a delicacy. But unlike dorpers, Charolais sheep need to be sheared (dorpers shed on their own). 20 sheep and 6 Charolais sheep were brought to the farm. And the first lambing was also received.
