  • I was there during Father’s Day weekend. All I pulled up was seaweed was horrible fishing. All I caught was hard head. No matter where I fished. The jetties surf or the pier was guaranteed seaweed I finally made it down to the Mansfield cut. I finally got my first 4 wheel drive Nissan Titan. Was great to finally make it that far. Great video beach bum. Stay safe stay healthy

    • haha hell yeah. I finally got my 4 wheel drive truck last week and all I've been thinking about is Thank GOD I can finally start going down to PINS! Now I just have to find the right gear and learn when to go and where to throw. Would go this weekend but it's Easter ... way too packed. And the conditions are kinda shit. Hope to get out there in April though!

  • Great video buddy, I grew there and live in Oregon now. When I fish the surf, I always headed down to little shell and spent the weekend with my buddies and we always did well. Create a camp and drive up and down looking for birds and bait and fish in the water on the surf. The further down you drive the fewer guts you have allowing you to fish smoother and deeper water close to shore. Prepare for weather and surf conditions before you go. Keep up the great videos.

  • Thanks for this information! I am one of those guys it only comes down every so often. I was given some advice years ago by a guy, but I realize that apparently I was not able to put together everything he told me! Maybe just too much information at one time, lol. One thing I do remember him telling me was to look for a beach that has a lot of shells or broken shells and fish there-any information regarding that? My other hobby is metal detecting, so you can imagine with a wife and kids and all of the things that I want to do and they want to do that time for my hobbies is very limited!

If not yall definitely won't be fishing. 🤣 but thank you for the video this pass Sunday I was out early on the jettys trying to fish on my own . No luck .. My little autistic sister now wants to be joining me on my new hobby. An I believe she would enjoy serf fishing more then the jettys. I'm definitely going to apply the tips you recommended to better the odds for our next fishing adventure.

  • Hey man I have been watching your channel for years thanks for the referral to stanfields tackle they have great gear! I had a quick question about rod size when throwing soft plastics in the surf or even in the back bays. It seems too much work with a 7 + foot rod. Is a 5.5 feet too small to throw soft plastics out in the back bays? I feel like the perfect size is around 6.5 for that type of fishing what do you think ?

    @kylecool12@kylecool1210 ай бұрын
    • yes that;s fine I use my 7.6 with soft plastics and it works great. That light wieght rod and reel setup I show in the video is great for soft plastics.

  • how do you check surf conditions down PINS as far as water clarity, tide, temp, wind etc. to know when it would be a good day/week to go? You said you throw lures like spoons when its a green or yellow flag but is there a way to know what your getting into before you get there? and what time of year or what conditions are ideal for throwing spoons in surf to catch trout and reds? and best way to rig it up (directly to the main line, say 30lb braided, or with a leader/swivel of some sort?) - sorry lots of questions but I've been searching internet and can't quite find the answers! I'm also kinda stupid

    @brettbaker8357@brettbaker8357Ай бұрын
    • You can see daily surf reports on our community page the link is above or you can go to tides4fishing. Any time of the year is good as long as the surf is under 2 feet. the best time is spring and summer. You can use 20-pound test hooked up to a leader line of any pound strength. Use a swivel and then hook to the spoon. Green and yellow flags are the best when using spoons. Red flag forget about it.

    • Also about the live shrimp, I personally would not use it in the surf. The trash fish will cost you a fortune. Use live shrimp at jetties and back in the bays. Use salted shrimp or UN slated what ever you prefer

      @texasbeachbum@texasbeachbumАй бұрын
  • Hey man great tip with the salted baits man my shrimp stayed on so good this morning!! I only used a small amount of what I salted though, I was wondering if I freeze it will it still keep that same firm texture when it thaws each time? Cuz you know how bad and slushy normal frozen shrimp gets. But it will still stay firm after the first salting process? Thanks
