Actually small lizards are harmless, although it's scary when they cut their tail and it still moves, but this is actually how they defend themselves!
This is a leopard gecko I had about 6 total through the years. They are chill af. One of them used to clime on my shoulder and chill while id watch TV or play video games

Actually it's ok to help get the shed off if it's ready to come off
As far as i know, pulling the shed isn't good, but allowing the lil' fella to rub against you to get it off easier is just fine

You shouldnt remove the shed, or pull it, it is important the gecko eats it and remove it on its own, if there is no rough object it is ok to get it off the head a bit

@Paul Miskimmon They did the right thing and let is soak on a damp paper towel in a tupperware container. I don't think you've done your research on reptiles, a rock isn't actually required.
With how small the container is is probably a new pet. Or it might be in quarantine from other geks ( health reasons) there isn't even poop or urine in the container so they probably haven't been in there long or won't be in there long.

This is the only way you should help them shed, as well as making sure their little toes don't still have skin on them as it can cut circulation. Shouldn't peel their skin for them, just help them do it themselves.

You guys are misreading the comment. They weren't saying that she was doing it wrong, they were complimenting her for doing it correctly. That's why the first line reads "THIS is the only way you should help them shed," as in the way she did it in the video is how most people are supposed to do it.

Geckos have trouble shedding so if it feels safe enough to use you that’s very good! You seem like a very good gecko owner, you helped it get started and then let it use your hand as it needed instead of just pulling it off all the way.
Do you have a gecko? No they dont have a problem and if yes thats a sine something is wrong. The gecko uses her hand bc there is littarly no other object.

shedding reptiles like geckos need something rough to rub up against when they shed. that's why your gecko is tryng to rub up against the plastic tub, except plastic isn't rough enough to do the job. I would suggest putting a rock in its enclosure so that it can rub on that when it sheds

I like that you let him do it. It shows you know your stuff about animals shedding. Yes you can help get it off if it gets stuck but that's not common and can also hurt the creature and permanently damage them.
As long as the shed is ready to come off and humidity is adequate, ie the animal starts it themself bc then it is ready, it is ok to help them, because they would pull it off anyway.
