  • I’m sticking with my 48 lgc1, until the monitor space produces EXACTLY what I’m looking for. The brightness is still fantastic via LG service remote ABL etc, modifying RGB levels to reduce the artificial limiters, warm 50 and going into game dashboard and putting reduce blue light to level 1.

    • @@BeachClub_1I guess the main issue is nvidia's buggy implementation

      @hombrepepega3472@hombrepepega34722 ай бұрын
    • @@BeachClub_1 Yep as hombre said, it can be quite buggy on Nvidia. And it also stops you from using some scaling options like DLDSR. I'm sure TDG himself has made quite a few points on why DSC can be bad in certain scenarios. I personally notice it on my current monitor with DSC when browsing sometimes, not all websites, but some will cause my screen to go black for 3 seconds before coming back. Also some games you may not even hit over a certain frame rate because it's too demanding or frame capped, so you may aswell turn off DSC for those examples so you're not at the mercy of the Nvidia issues.

  • Much above 500 nits sitting at a desk with the screen right in front of my face starts hurting my eyes.

    @Orain88@Orain882 ай бұрын
    • The benefit of the TV is that in desktop you will be at like 150-200 nits SDR and when you switch to TV app or AppleTV for HDR stuff it automatically switches into HDR for that or w/e, so you can hop back/forth without messing with menu settings. I got tired of steaming HDR in Windows and all the services being capped at 1080p so monitor to 42" C3 was natural to me. On iPhone I can use it as remote when needed for both tv and apple tv - which generally is only needed for volume, it does a good job auto switching between PC and AppleTV. Edit: Tbh the best solution is separating them, a solid monitor for gaming, and a big OLED for relaxing. In the case you want more HDR movies, TV is better, if not, monitor might be the move.

      @Crisheight@Crisheight2 ай бұрын
    • @@Crisheightgetting one of these will be 95% for gaming. And the thing I've noticed with hooking up my desktop to my 120hz TV is that I get really funky results with features like frame gen. Idk if that's an issue with other tvs or not but frame gen works like butter on my 1440p 165hz gaming monitor. For PC feature compatability sake I'm leaning towards getting one of these new 32 inch monitors for hdr gaming and keeping my old one for daily sdr desktop use. I would be surprised if I thought gaming in hdr in this screen was too dim. I guess it's possible but I doubt it. Personally I want the best colors possible so I'm going with one of the new QD oleds.

  • Alright, so I went ahead and got myself an S90C as well to see for myself. WOW. Coming from Alienware 34 (ABL too distracting), to LG 45 (nowhere near as vibrant as QD-OLED), and now the S90C. It's a massive improvement in all aspects, minus the refresh rate and 55 inch size for monitor use. ABL is still present but a tenth of how bad it was on the Alienware. I was lucky enough to get a second gen panel on the S90C and modded it to S95C as well. I'm simply blown away and will never touch a monitor again until they sort out the brightness issues. I couldn't be happier, and love it. The 55" isn't too big for me at all and is completely immersive. • Here are my thoughts after using a LG C2 42” as a monitor for 6 months: TV needs a remote control, it doesn’t power on/off automatically like a monitor. TV has ADS and a OS full of bloatware apps, some you can’t uninstall. TV take a lot of space on your desk. Bro talks about brightness but 90% of the time my brightness was on 40%, because higher than that hurts my eyes. Sure HDR is nice, but my suggestion is: use the TV as a secondary display for some games like Hogwarts Legacy, The Witcher 3 and all that are nice to play with a controller and the rest play on the monitor.

I was a pretty surprised to see a 300nit drop (depending on the review) at the 10% window on the Asus. So, I decided to cancel my preorder and wait to see what next in the monitor space. Fingers crossed that next year we'll see brighter screens, a polariser layer, no more DSC with more competitive pricing. The TV market will be interesting to watch especially in the 42" form factor with 144Hz now being a thing...

  • I've been using an LG 48" OLED 4k 120hz HDR monitor. I'm selling it for two reasons. The first being the unfortunate thing of it being a matte finish. But the main reason is because it's just too large when I want to use keyboard and mouse. It's great while I kick back in my chair and use a controller because I'm about 3ft away. But I play a mix of competive shooters as well as campaigns. 42" would probably be fine, but I'm gonna try to opt for one of the 32" QD-OLED's. It'll be significantly better for shooters, but I'm also hoping it can still give me a great immersive single player experience. I'm also an at home video editor, and while the screen realestate of a 48" TV-like-monitor is great for an editing timeline, I still find myself naturally cranking my neck up to look up. While the size of my massive monitor didn't work out for me, hope the TV works for your case scenario man!

Although I have heard the first units of s90c came with gen 1 panels. Anyways you can check to see what panel is in your s90c by going into that service menu and checking the anapeak numbers.

Because there doesn't seem to be a functional form of DSC on my Spectrum Black 27 (as the DSR options still appear in the Nvidia CP), however, I get framecapped to 120hz and upscaled to 4K (all on the monitor). However, I can still get past the 120hz refresh rate cap when I run the game in borderless windowed mode instead of exclusive fullscreen mode. Perhaps the same would apply to other OLED monitors that are actually utilizing DSC? Someone else would have to test this out for me as I only have one OLED monitor...

At 55 inches you basically have to move your head to look around the screen, unless you sit farther away which would kind of defeat the purpose in a setup designed around optimum picture quality.

    • @@antemasq6520 the top 3 annoying things for me was ABL was too aggressive, especially when using Excel or Word. It dimmed it way too much. Disconnecting the HDMI cable will reset the setting from PC back to tv setting. This happened more often when connecting my laptop to the tv. Playing games in 1440 was hit or miss, the signal would either work or the game would start flickering. And neck pain wasn't too bad, but a TV over 40 inches is still massive when you are sitting that close, while I enjoyed being able to have like 6 windows up at the same time your eyes do get strained faster. Honestly if I hadn't boughten a gaming PC, there's a good chance I don't invest in actual monitors. TV for a monitor can work just fine depending on what you plan on using it for, I had a 48 inch C1, went down to a 42 still too big. LG is the way to go if you plan on taking the plunge.

    • @@Dswizzy217 for sure! depending on your usage, for productivity it's pretty amazing. I had it hooked up to my Mac Studio and PS5, worked like a charm, only reason I went with the monitors is because I finally got a gaming PC. Playing FPS games on a 27 or 32 is much much different than big tv, plus the benefit of using 200+ fps is something TVs can't do yet. As far as burn in, I've had a B8, 2 C9s, C1, A95K, and these two LG and Alienware oled monitors. I do not baby them, I do hide the taskbar, but that's it. Never had burn in with any of them, not everyone is that lucky, but these panels are tanks especially LG. That's their bread and butter.
