Such a great review and thank for talking and showing the different mac resolution settings.
Yw! MacOS is more important than ever these days. I wish I could show y'all hdmi 2.1 but we'll have to wait on that one.
Yo! thanks for showcasing the real world interactions! Helps to get a very solid understanding of how it behaves out there versus just stats and figures in a dark room. Thanks again.
Yw!
Hey! Thank you, you covered some things I was really wanting to know about the monitor. Appreciate the follow up review.
Yw! It's been a lot of fun covering this monitor.
Yo, this is a good video. This monitor has been on my radar for a while and I hope this delivers
Thank you! It's finally a great time for 4k oled monitors. If you decide to get it, I hope you love it.
badass video, bro i was worried about text clarity and maintaining the panel you answered these questions well
Thanks! Glad I was able to help.
Great video! Clear, pretty concise and appropriate b-roll. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
Really appreciate this review, it's the 4th review I've seen on this monitor and finally this has been the review that answers every question I had! Thanks so much
Thank you! You're doing it right getting multiple perspectives. I'm glad my review was able to help you out. If you end up making a purchase consider stopping by and let us know what you think.
Great review and video editing! Well done!!!!!
Thank you!
I enjoyed the video a lot. Especially the comparison to the IPS display was really useful!
Thank you! That comparison in the dark was pretty wild, right? The IPS glow bothered me the most with previous monitors and I'm so thankful OLED is hitting the 4k market, finally.
@@TaylorBrauershould i use console mode though??
Bro this channel will be big, I'm sure. Thanks for putting this monitor on my radar, I've been looking for an upgrade.
Thank you! 4k Oled monitors are finally here. Feels like it's been long overdue lol.
I’m debating between this or a 27” lg95qe. I mainly play cod multiplayer on my series x. Currently I play on a 32” Vizio
@@AFGixxeR88 I think you could save some money by getting a 4k 120hz panel not 240hz. The series X doesnt have a 240hz display mode so youd be using the monitor to half of its potential. unless you plan to upgrade your system
Amazing review! You deserve companies sending stuff to you for testing.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. Perhaps, i'll get to that level some day.
Great review! I can't wait to get this monitor! Also thanks for the firmware update video. I was excited to see the first update and the changes but was curious on how to actually update it. Also I have heard there are issues remaining about Dolby vision. Have you seen or tested this out yet? You earned a sub from me.
Thanks! If you decide to get it let us know what you think, if you'd like.
man someone finally speaking my language..You brought up *all* the points that concern me (PC, Mac, consoles, and text clarity for coding). Best detailed video I've seen yet. Great work!
Yw! I'm glad you enjoyed and found it helpful. Have a good one!
very informative!! :D
Thank you!
Great review, and thanks for being honest about its drawbacks. I live in a place where there isn't much bright sunlight during the year (PNW), so I think I'm going to go ahead and get this monitor.
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. The monitor works great in overcast lighting. I hope you love it!
W awesome video!! This channel will blow up! I have a question if you don’t mind answering Is DSC something you turn on, or is it always on? I am building my 4080S pc thing weekend and I plan to play fast fps games as well as some story mode games like cyberpunk and starfield. I want to play these at 4k of course. CoD on 1440 to maximize fps. With all of that in mind, what monitor settings do you recommend for those types of titles to really get the best out of the monitor in terms of picture quality? Is there one setting for all I should keep it at? Thanks so much for any help!
Thank you! I really appreciate that. As for your questions, DSC is just there in the background without you ever needing to intervene. The monitor is very well calibrated right out of the box. I tweaked mine a bit by staying on Standard mode and using HDR1000 in the smart hdr settings. However, this appears to be overwritten by Dolby Vision. If you're more interested in color, I'd recomend you watch my first video on this monitor where I cover more of the brightness, gamut, and color accuracy.
Real review from real user. Thank you!
Yw!
Really quality video. Glad I came across it, a real hidden gem among videos. Too bad it has so few views
Thank you!
Coole cat!! I have this monitor and its pretty amazing.
Thank you! Glad you're enjoying it.
Great video ! i've seen many videos about these new oled displays and this one really shows the average daily use, and pros and cons of these panels. I know this alienware model has some firmware issues, i will wait for the MSI one (flat, which i prefer). But i am really thinking about waiting on those hybrid monitors (240hz 4K - 480hz HD). What are your thoughts on those ? I know they will be matte coated.... maybe make a video on the subject ? keep it up.
Thank you! The monitors with the dual res, dual refresh rates are interesting. When that first debut for the Razer laptops I was very interested where that might lead. Def something to keep an eye on.
I’m curious about the dual refresh rate monitors too. I elected not to go with it because a) while 1080p is fine on a fast 25”, 32” is really pushing it for 1080p, and b) 480hz is only getting you from ~4ms to ~2ms per frame. Yes it’s 2x the frames but 240hz is already super fast. That said, 480hz gonna be a lot better on a third-gen OLED than on a TN/VA/IPS/Mini-LED in terms of blur between frames and ghosting, so if you really care about high speed, I would def be looking at OLEDs.
@binary132 good point. Also the Matte coating for me is a no no. I agree with you, 240hz OLED has more clarity than 360hz ips/tn. But since i play competitive shooters, those extra frames could be helpful (i do have a beefy pc). I would just software crop the screen in order for it to be 27 or even 24 inches only with black bars.
Hmmmmmmm CRT time 😅
Thanks for bringing up the programming aspect. I write code 8 hours a day and then play video games and I have one desk so I need a monitor that can do both!
Yw! Having one monitor to do everything makes things so much less complicated.
Thanks for your review and also for covering the burn-in topic and office usage. I hope this Monitor will be available in Austria, in Germany Dell-Shop you can buy it but not in Austria. What a pitty!!!
Yw! A lot of folks are going to expect to use this as an office monitor and it's been great for that, so far. I'm hoping you get availability soon.
good real world review, keep making videos, you're good at it. I'm stuck between wanting this because of the price point or waiting for the flat 32 4k qd oled from ASUS which will either cost more or less, but doesn't have the curve. I never really been into curved displays, but the curve on this monitor does't seem bad at all.
Thank you! I really appreciate that. I totally understand that debate. If possible, i'd recommend seeing both in person since you're on the fence. Maybe you'll find something about one you like over the other, or visa versa.
@@TaylorBrauer I recently compared with the MSI MAG 321UPX, and I ended up buying the AW3225QF and have been using it with my M3 MacBook Pro and it is getting the 4k 240 hz. The only thing is that I really want is a soundbar just don't know what will work with it, but this is mainly for use with the PS5, as I have headphones, but sometimes I just want to watch Netflix
nice video, thanks for disclosing whether you were sponsored.
Thank you and yw! Have a good one.
I drop a like for the video, and subscribed for your cat!
Thank you! The cat appreciates you 😁
I really thought I was going to enjoy having the aw ultrawide qoled for a while but this is so much more appealing 😮
The 4k clarity really adds a lot and the 240Hz is just icing on the cake. They really hit it out of the park with these new panels.
@@TaylorBrauer any guesses why Best Buy removed it from their site this week? Wondering if there’s a rework in progress to deal with the shipping or firmware issues 🤔
@@PyraiSage I have no idea. That's def a odd one as I saw it up there and then they took it down the next day.
Thank you for this insightful review! It has helped me a lot because I am thinking of changing my current setup and looking for a reliable monitor that can do both productivity stuff and gaming. One question though - this monitor doesn't have a built-in KMV switch right? Have you tried hooking 2 systems to this monitor at the same time? How do you toggle between the two setups if you did? I'm thinking of a possible combination of my macbook and steamdeck to alternate between work and gaming probably. Understand the monitor supports PIP but just wanted to know about the KMV settings. Thanks!
Yw! That’s a great question and unfortunately it doesn’t have a KVM. The best solution I’ve found is a Logitech MX wireless keyboard and mouse since those support switching computers on a button press. They support up to 3 devices via Bluetooth.
@@TaylorBrauer Thank you for answering! I'm guessing in this case I probably have to get an external KVM switcher to support the setup that I have in mind, right? 😅
@@dancingmelodies Sounds like that might be a fit if you want one place to switch between devices.
@@TaylorBrauer Thanks for your advice!!
Thanks for the detailed information. Quick question, i have the alienware m18 with rtx 4080, do you think this monitor will work flawlessly with the m18? Again great review!
Yw! The laptop 4080 won't get you 240fps @ 4k in AAA titles, but it still delievers impressive 4k performance.
This is a great monitor. I recommend downloading the firmware update they recently released. Also, I'm using it with my PC and a PS5. I have a SoundBlaster Katana V2X soundbar and have the eArc port from the monitor connected to the Arc port on the soundbar and it works great for the PS5. I do use USB mode on the soundbar for the PC sound so I can get 5.1 virtual surround, but even the PC audio comes through on the eArc to Arc channel in 2 channel audio. I have the PC connected Displayport.
Oh awesome! Glad to hear you got that setup and working. I haven’t had an opportunity to test out eArc. I hope Dell keeps the firmware coming to keep improving this monitor.
is it possible that you can use the hdmi e arc for the ps5 and the bluetooth that the pc have so you can use them both on this alienware ? if the soundbar does have a bluetooth systeem just like mine
What settings do you use for your ps5?
Fantastic review, just about to order one, are the settings for the monitor fine right out of the box? or does it need tweaking?
Thanks! The settings are great out of the box. If you are really into color accuracy I recommend you give Creator > srgb > gamma 2.2 a try.
Thanks so much for the response. @@TaylorBrauer
Thank you for this information. Im planning to use this Monitor for Gaming and Productivity. Productivity approx 12-16 hours a week. Do you think Burn-In is a problem with this use case?
Yw! I mean, burn-in is going to happen, eventually. You're paying a lot of money for a monitor and is that worth the anxiety? That's something you'll have to think about because no one really knows how these will hold up long term.
You want to jack the brightness as low as you can tolerate for productivity tasks. It should still last quite a long time with minimum brightness levels.
Hi Taylor, thank you for your great video! One thing I did not get is, how do you connect your MacBook to the monitor? Is there a USB-C to Displayport cable I need?
Exactly, you'll need a DP 1.4 cable to usb-c. This doesn't come with the monitor, unfortunately.
Awesome video man
Thank you so much! 😊
Thanks, great review. I also ordered the aw3225qf, but I'm worried about the Dolby Vision bug. Have you by any chance covered this in another review?
I'm not sure there is a Dolby Vision bug. DV is always on in HDR and overrides smartHDR. Whether Dell allows for that to be changed via firmware update is yet to be seen.
From what I understand is that when the monitor is set to “hdr 1000 peak brightness” DV turns on when it shouldn't. DV can display a maximum of 400 nits. The monitor starts clipping and the image looks washed out. All in all it doesn't work as it should, and I really hope a firmware update will prevent this.
@@snellage I haven't experienced any reduced brightness, clipping, or the image being washed out (aside from typical Windows 11 HDR). What is meant by "display a maxiumum of 400 nits"? I've heard this a couple times in the comments and 400 nits is not expected at a 100% window in any HDR setting. Smaller windows, like muzzle flashes or small, bright objects on screen get very bright. I'm not sure we can jump to conclusions on whether DV is a bug or not. I'll keep an eye on it and work on keeping up-to-date on a video.
Thanks for the very detailed review! I really would like to buy this monitor but my desk is directly under 2 windows (on a roof) and I'm a bit concerned that this is not an ideal condition. 😥
Yw! Ah, that's a bummer. Overhead roof windows would let in a a lot of light onto the panel.
I have this monitor and it's hands down the best monitor I've ever owned. It's absolutely beautiful! The ever so slight curve is fantastic. And the colors and blacks are amazing. They had a firmware update that fixed some things. Dolby vision makes it bright and beautiful. This panel is the same panel going on all the others that are coming out. Samsung makes it. Some "May" be better on software things but this is great right now. It was a no brainer.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! It's a pretty amazing display and I can agree with the "...best monitor I've ever owned." sentiment despite some of it's drawbacks like it's stand, lack of USB-C DP Alt, and lack of speakers. If they improve upon those next generation this will be perfect.
Yes agreed. It may not be for everyone. Like console gaming because the lack of speakers, but most displays speakers totally stink anyways. But pc use its really nice. Would like to see the asus and their cooling solution. Maybe brighter? Who knows. The Alienware does have a fan that keeps it cool so I don't know if asus will get any brighter. All and all I think people would be happy with this purchase.
Are settings per input source or is there settings for sdr vs hdr. The neo g7 is split by sdr /hdr. Thanks for your video realky helpful
Settings are per input source (HDMI 1&2, DP). HDR and SDR share the same settings with the exception of Smart HDR under "Display" because it's only enabled when HDR is on. However, it can still be set prior to enabling HDR. Yw! Glad you enjoyed.
Hey! Great video btw. I got a question though. How long do you think this monitor would last? I’ve been doing research about QD OLED and I’m worried about “burn in” being an issue. I want to get this monitor but because it’s so expensive I was wanting to have it for 5+ years maybe even reaching 10 years. What are your thoughts?
At least 3 years, with or without replacement. I'm speaking of course about the 3-year burn in warranty. Beyond that is anyone's guess. It just depends how you use it.
@@TaylorBrauer so I’d mainly use it for gaming (console) but eventually I will buy a pc in like 2/3 years. I’m not sure what the future holds and I could be using the monitor to do office work as well
Nice video! I’m still undecided to buy this monitor or wait the rog 32 oled. Now I have the Samsung odissey g7 2k 240hz. Do you think I need to wait and buy the rog or buy this cheapest monitor? Thanks
Thank you. There's lots of options to choice from and each one has their own pros and cons. Take your time to consider each one and your budget and make a decision from there.
Waiting for mine since they ship a little later in Europe. I'm a little concerned about the large size, especially since it's going to be next to a 27" studio display... But I think it'll be a good replacement for the AW3423DWF which is already awesome but has a pretty low pixel density/resolution...
32" def feels a lot larger than 27". More so than I was expecting.
Thanks for the effort making this informative video. One extra question. The AW 34 inch has complains about being loud caused be the vetilation. Does this monitor has the same 'problem'?
Yw! I haven't experienced any noise from the fan. Dell's latest firmware update tuned the fan even more.
@@TaylorBrauer thanks i just ordered this beauty, will use it for work on a Mac M1 and for gaming ....
@@LittleAmbientMachine That's exciting! It's a great monitor. For that M1 make sure you have a usbc to displayport 1.4 cable ready as there's not one in the box.
@@TaylorBrauer I want to connect my M1 via USB-C is that not possible?
@@LittleAmbientMachine it’s possible with that cable. However, USBc to usbc won’t work as the usbc port doesn’t have enough bandwidth to drive a video signal.
Have you tried connecting speakers via USB? I'm curious if I can effortlessly switch from console to PC and not have to change my speaker setup.
Connecting my Steelseries Arctis Pro wireless to the USB-A does work. I'm not sure if that's the case for other hardware.
What settings did you go with? Ive had my monitor for a few weeks abd cant seem to settle on settings. Thanks.
I flip flop back and forth a lot but rn I'm using Creator > sRGB > Gamma 2.2 with Dolby Vision off and SmartHDR set to HDR Peak 1000.
i wonder if you wanna play a game in 2k resolution to up the frames, is there a differents in how it looks compair to a standart 2k screen and is it possible?
It's possible and it's going to look like 1440p on a 32" monitor.
so there is no differents compair to the aw3423dwf in 1440p that the one i have now. Nice to know... thanks@@TaylorBrauer
What PS5 monitor do you recommend as the best regardless of cost? Should I wait for the newest monitors to be released this year? I am worried about burn in! I mainly play FPS games.
The 4k OLEDS released this year are some of the most advanced monitors to date. Burn in will happen on OLEDs, eventually. If that's a deal breaker than you'll want to look elsewhere.
As someone who has only ever used flat monitors, one of my concerns was if I will be able to get used to a curved panel. I have not purchased this monitor, but may in the future, but it helps knowing that I will likely simply get used to it. Other concern also is that going to an IPS, hopefully my eyes can get used to the crazy increase in contrast for long gaming periods haha.
It's a bit of a gamble going curved. As someone who used to be a strictly flat monitor guy I'm finding the curve to be enjoyable. From my experience, you're going to be more worried about spending too much time in gaming sessions because the contrast is so immersive. Your eyes won't be able to get enough.
Ive been considering this monitor but Im not sure if its worth it coming from a 42” c3 oled
The c3 OLED is very nice. I have the 55" C2 and it's awesome. Don't feel pressured to make a purchase. What you feel is best is the right answer.
I have a question I'm planing to get 3 monitors should i stick to mini led or is qd oled safe to go for I'm just worried about burn inn that's all ?
Mini LED is really great and if burn in on OLED makes you uneasy then miniLED is a fine choice. It won't get you all the way to those amazing constrasting colors on OLED but it's much better than LED.
You mentioned gsync with battlefield gameplay. You didn‘t have the oled vrr flicker? Some reported it to have that problem with hdmi and some with both hdmi and dp
I never experienced the vrr flicker, fortunately.
@@TaylorBrauer thx. I really like that you interact with the Community. You may not have mentioned it initially in the vid, but you answered questions like these in the comments. I really Like that. Keep it up.

Was debating getting this or the 27” 360hrtz Oled. I do currently play a lot of FPS games but my new PC is a 4080 super / 7800x3d combo. Any advice? This does scale to 1440p on PC though?
Congrats on the new PC. Those are some beast specs. Yes, it will scale down to 1440p.
@@TaylorBrauer with a cap at 240 hrtz correct?
@@cookiepuss8182 Yeah, resolution scaling shouldn't have any impact on refresh rate.
The only difference with DSC is when I tab out of my fullscreen game, it gies black for 3 seconds which is extremely annoying. Otherwise flawless image
Huh, that is pretty interesting. I'll have to see if I notice that too. I can't really say i've messed with alt tabing in full screen.
Nice but did you get any VRR Flicker ? that concerns me a little with these OLEDs.
Nope, none whatsoever. My monitor has been flicker free.
That's great
What about sound? How would you connect speakers to it?
That’s a great question. Unfortunately, there’s no speakers and no audio input. You can connect a sound bar to the eArc hdmi port and get sound that way. I have a setup with this in my latest video where I go over console gaming.
really wanna this one but well, my wallet says no. Would it be a good choice to get an older 34 inch model? i see they sell it around 970 on amazon. kinda worry about it can't display documents very sharp
Alienware products are always getting discounts after a certain point. You could wait for this to come down and look at other deals. That 34" is discounted often. You're right, the 34" isn't very sharp. Personally, I don't enjoy the 34" for reading text.

I can't imagine how y'all feel seeing these videos and not having it available. I'm not sure on those dates, but I hope it becomes available to you soon!
@@TaylorBrauer yeah :/ I have the DWF ultrawide.. It's a great monitor, but I want that 4K crispness and 21:9 is not for me, as I watch videos mostly and playing is secondary.
I’m in the US and my monitor didn’t come with VESA mount, does this need it?
The included stand should work. VESA mounting plate would come with an arm if purchased separately.
I'm running cables through the walls pc in another room. Do I run hdmi 2.1 or dp 1.4 to this monitor. Using 4090. I keep getting conflicting info. Should I run both to be safe.
Which ever one should be fine. I haven't seen a lot of long dp 1.4 cables, tbh. I think going with what will reach the length of your cable run will get you what you need.
Im running 20m long optical cables. In terms of short cables will both do the same thing with all features? Hdmi 2.1 has higher bandwidth. Displayport uses dsc compression to get 240hz at 4k.
@@ivana6141 hdmi 2.1 uses DSC too.
I want to connect my speaker with this moniter, but it does not have the jack. How to connect?
The monitor supports eArc over hdmi which is the only way to get sound output from a soundbar or an audio device that supports hdmi in and out.
How long does the Pixel refresh maintenance last and how often should one run it?
It takes about 6-8 minutes and it's pretty good about running it when you're not using it. (i.e. you shutdown your PC or sleep your PC). If you try to turn it off it'll warn you it's running and ask if you really want to interrupt it. So far, it hasn't been invasive about performing the refresh.
@@TaylorBrauer Appreciate the lightning fast reply. I also just watched all your latest stuff on the QF. By far the best review on KZhead, it's not even close. Hope your channel gets the deserved attention.
@@Oxymiron_ Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Have a good one.
I saw that you had a 34" ultrawide, when you changed to the 32", did you miss it a lot?
That’s a really great question. Honestly, the moment I turned on the 32” I was done with the 34”. I really like more square screens like 16:10 ratios. This 32” has that 16:10 feels even though it’s 16:9. And the 4k is super nice too.
What are your ps5 settings for this monitor? Saturation seems a bit low for me
I use the same settings I use for PC. Standard profile, HDR Peak 1000. I'm using HDR mode in the PS5.
@@TaylorBrauer ok thank you
The raising blacks is not an Alienware concern - but a QD OLED issue. QD OLED lacks a polarizer which prevents the light to scatter on the screen and raise blacks. I have this same issue on my S90C TV too in my living room. I had to buy blackout curtains just to watch movies during the day
Is that really a big deal though?
I know I’m late. When someone says “it’s not sponser “ it brings me joy to know . I will know the truth and all I seek is the truth
I'm all about being honest with y'all in these videos. If I make a mistake I'm there to own it. Regardless of whether any of my videos are sponsored or not sponsored I want to bring y'all honest and valuable content. I'm not against sponsorships as that would support the channel even more.
There are reports that Nvidia DSR does not work with DSC (4K 240hz), can you test if DSR works in non DSC mode? Like for example 4K 60hz.
Let me get back to you on that.
Should I get this for series x call of duty gaming?
It’s a great monitor. That’s something you have to decide. Look at your options and make the decision that’s best for you. Good luck!
@@TaylorBrauer yeah I’ve been looking at lots of options from LG like the 2795qe then saw this. I looked at a 45” at Best Buy but it’s too big. Lots of people said not to get an ultra wide for gaming. I’m new to all this as I play on a old Vizio 32” lcd tv
How good does this monitor run on call of duty? I have a 4080 with a 13900kf processor. How many frames can i get with 4k and can I downscale the resolution to 1440p?

I wish you tested dolby vision. Supposedly it's buggy especially in combination with hdr1000.
Oh? How so? I have been using hdr1000 and all I notice is DV isn't able to be turned off.
@@TaylorBrauer According to some reddit posts supposedly dolby vision doesn't go over 500 nits on this monitor. I haven't actually seen a visual demonstration of this.
@@UNr34 I wonder what window percentage they are referrencing. If it's 100% coverage then yeah, it won't get to 500 nits. I believe RTings measured around 250-300 in a 100% window. For smaller windows like 5-10% it gets really really bright.
Can I connect my Macbook to it via USB-C and use it as a display?
Yes, but only if you use a DisplayPort 1.4 to USBC cable. If your macbook also supports hdmi 2.1 you can use that too.
So I get its doesn't support 1440. But but if you set your console to 4k and then the game has a performance mode of say 60fps and 1440. Does that mean it'll just drop too 1080p?
That's correct. It'll run in 1080p in performance mode.
@@TaylorBrauer sure hope they fix that.

Dell has only called out that it doesn't work with FreeSync Premium Pro. So, ymmv with the lower tiers of FreeSync.
Will my RTX 3080 push 4K 240hz? If not what will it achieve? Or Do I need a RTX 4070 or 4080+?
It depends on what you're playing but the latest games won't be hitting 4k at 240fps. For those newer titles you'll really want to be making use of DLSS to get the most out of 4k.
Hey Taylor great review! Did you find a way to remove the marks from the bubble wrap that was covering the screen? I ended up getting this monitor and had some marks on mine. I was able to get some of them off but there so stubborn. It’s really annoying to have paid so much money and have this issue.
Thank you! There was some light marks on the screen when unboxing that I took a microfiber cloth to. One that I use to clean my camera lens off with. I don't trust monitor cleaning solutions or any liquids on this panel. I just scrubbed with the micro fiber cloth for a bit and it wiped it all off.

@@aniketrt3327 Whew, that's some low temps. Giving me a challenge here.
Between this monitor & G3222Q, which one suits my preference more? 60% PS5 gaming & 40% productivity (excel, word, web browsing, etc) I am still holding myself from buying any OLED monitors due to burn in issue
Those are very different in terms of quality. I think a fairer comparison would be against a higher quality monitor like the u4025qw.
DSC just compresses (pack) the data before going through the cable, then decompresses (unpack) at the end just like zipped/archived files, so of course there will be no visual difference.
Of course there is difference, and also more lag.
This i gonna sound silly but my main reason for leaning towards the new LG monitor is because of the design i really hate the branding being shown in the monitor design lol
That's smart. Having an expensive piece of tech like these monitors should look the way you expect since you'll be looking at this A LOT. It's great that there's so much choice in the OLED market with these especially now that the WOLEDs are around the corner. Get the one that's best for you.
I, the potato liked and subbed
Thank you so much!!
I have the LG GN950-B IPS and I don't know if that panel is different from others but my blacks arent white like yours and there is far less light bleed. I'm pretty sure I can get blacks as deep as that OLED...
LG makes some great displays. You're right, the panels do vary which adds more complication into the mix. The camera exaggerates the light bleeding on the monitor. It's noticable but not as bad as it seems on video. I'm sure the LG looks great and it won't get near as black as an OLED simply because there's always a backlight on an IPS where OLED is turned completely off for blacks. That's not to say there's anything wrong with a good looking IPS screen's black. A good quality panel can look great!
Why will panel refresh damage the monitor if you do it frequently? Isn’t it the other way around?
I'm not entirely sure on the specifics but panel refreshing is more aggresive to the point where running it more than recommended will damage the screen. Pixel refresh seems to be the background process the monitor runs when it's sleeping.
Got it. What is the recommended frequency of doing a panel refresh to not damage it?
@@ceuser3555 It should activate automatically when it's time. Usually it occurs around 1500 hours.
@@TaylorBrauer Nice. So we need to keep the power on then right? I usually turn of everything after using it including monitors to save on electricity costs.
@@ceuser3555 You don't have to keep it on but you'll get more prompts if you do. I think if you want to prioritize electric savings then powering it off and doing it when it prompts is the way to go.
From Dell's webiste: NOTE: Alienware AW3225QF supports display over USB-C port with Alternate mode DP 1.4. Ensure that the USB-C port on your computer supports Alternate mode DP 1.2 or above.
I see that too. That's quite odd since it didn't work on my mbp. I'll have to experiement with it with some other laptops to see if it does indeed work. Thanks for sharing.
more ps5 footage please, Looking into it to see of its good with the ps5
That's exciting! What is it that you're interested in seeing?
@@TaylorBraueragreed a video detailing best settings to fully take advantage of the ps5?
@@andr3ss___ Check out my latest video as that covers a lot of ps5 settings and configurations. I also cover other consoles as well.
Does Pixel shift bother playing fps games
I haven't noticed it at all. In game or out of game.
Would this monitor be ok for a Xbox x
Yep! It’ll work great with X.
@@TaylorBrauerthank you for the quick response brother!
So for console gaming, running games on 1440p at 120hz is out of the question?
No they should run perfectly fine as consoles and console games are optimized for a smooth experience
This monitor also does support 1440p 120hz at 2.1 hdmi
@@primeservers356right but the monitor doesn’t support or have a setting to set 1440p gaming. You can see it in the video and it’s also called out on rtings
Correct, as of rn, 1440p 120Hz console gaming is not possible. Hopefully they enable it in firmware as I see no reason why it wouldn't support it.
@@TaylorBrauer is there a reason you didn’t go for the 27 inch instead for gaming since I think that does allow for 1440p at 120frames
I wanna buy an OLED monitor but I'm scared it won't last very long. I want one that lasts me 4-5 years at least, without the burn in scare and also the light reflections are kinda nuts.
That’s understandable. Unfortunately, no one really knows how long these will go without burn in. It’s guaranteed to happen at some point so getting one with the hope of no burn in issues 4 or 5 years out doesn’t seem likely.
@@TaylorBrauer The added issue to the matter is also the fact that it will make re-sale very difficult or near impossible. Who wants to buy a display with none too inconspicuous visual artifacts that will only get worse soon? This isn't like a little pixel error.
@@vane909090 That's a good point.
I got geforce rtx 2070... I wonder...
how about a 7900 xtx with a r7 7800x3d
I don't have any AMD cards to test but that card is AMD's top of line so it should perform very well.
does yours come with scratches and scuffs at the top of the monitor from the bubble wrap as reported by many users in reddit.
Yep, I had some residue from the packing. It was able to clean it all up just scrubbing it with a microfiber cloth. I didn’t use any liquid.
I wonder if this monitor could be used for productivity. Experts?
I've been using it everyday for coding at my full time job. It's wonderful for productivity.
New keyboard?
It's a Wooting 60HE. It's pretty great.
I guess GSync can improve the experience even more and raise FPS but if your GPU is AMD I guess you're out of luck taking advantage of that boost since this monitor doesn't support AMD Freesync. Am I right about that?
It doesn't support FreeSync Premium Pro. There's 3 teirs of freesync with premium pro supporting HDR.
This is what I’m buying when paid end of month

Unfortunately it’s not flat …
It would have been really nice if Dell included an option to get flat or curved.
Check out the MSI MPG 321URX, I prefer the subtle curved panel on the Alienware but I’m debating whether it’s worth the extra 200+

4090? Hah! Sapphire 7900 XTX, not a compromise either
I still haven't tried an AMD card. How are you liking the 7900XTX? Does the lack of DLSS present any challenges?
@@TaylorBrauer FSR is equal or better, I go from 30ish FPS max settings RT cyberpunk to 60+. Consumes 500 watts, the sapphire nitro card is overclocked to a similar level as the 4090
@@foresttaylor7850 That's awesome. It's good to hear that FSR is competing with DLSS. I'm glad to hear you've had a good experience with the card.
Having DSC always on is a big problem for some people! Nvidia DSR, DLDSR and Integer Scaling don't work with DSC!
