How to Fly a Circling Approach Las Vegas | KLAS | A320 In-Depth Tutorial
Today we're back in the full flight Airbus A320 simulator to cover a very interesting approach called, Circle to Land or Circling Approach.
In this session we’re landing at Harry Reid International Airport / Las Vegas - KLAS.
This Approach is used when there's only one runway in use but the wind is coming from the opposite direction. So you have to deviate from your normal ILS approach and basically fly a traffic pattern and land on the opposite side of the runway.
We’re covering everything from reading the approach charts, highlighting the safe corridors, missed approach/go around rules and how to time and manually fly the airplane on the correct headings/tracks.
As an commercial airline Pilot on the Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 we rarely fly a circling approach but it’s always important to train and stay familiar with all the approaches in case you have to fly them.

The fact you only have 10k subscribers makes me furious! You should have at least 500k.
Just subscribed, your channel seems amazing, you're definitely one of the "hidden" gems of youtube.
Thank you very much! Means a lot 🙌✈️
❤❤❤ Nice video I’m not pilot but like Aviation very much I travel so much Retired US Navy and yes I was on carrier watching planes and Stationed in Italy and Spain now I retired I work here at USAF as civilian here in Las Vegas
Well being a student pilot I was expecting nxt video with your colleague and my instructor captain joe .Amazing video as always
Vielen Dank Pascal! Really interesting and awesome this video and very well explained the whole procedure 🤩😍👍🏼✈️😊
Always appreciate your videos keep them up!
Definitely will try this approach next time. Thank you!
Loved the instruction!
Thank you 🙌
Very professional and informative, thanks for providing this video. 👍
Hi pascal this was a amazing video I can tell that you are putting a lot of your time and effort into these wonderful videos and I can see that because this video was so entertaining and the way that your explain everything in detail is very useful because I am learning a lot of things from watching your videos and also I love watching your videos just keep up the hard work Pascal and I have a maths question that I am struggling to find a easy way to solve is it possible if you can help me with this question the question is :You are walking on a bearing of 32 degrees. You turn left 115 degrees and continue walking forward. You then turn right 46 degrees. What is your final bearing? The Answer options are 193,231,101,323 I think the answer is 231 degrees you have to count every single degree in increments was the fastest way to do this kind of question.🙌✈️❤️👍
nice video thank you
Thank you ✌️
Very very noice 👍 👍pascal👍noice
Thanks mate ✌️
Hello, Pascal! You have really been making some great aviation content, well done! I am an A320 pilot and in my company´s FCTM, during a circle to land, you do not make the shallow descent compared to a visual traffic. Do you confirm that? Great video!
Thank you very much Rene, Yes i do confirm. Had that traffic pattern in m mind 😅✌️
Very educational. Quick question. How often can first officers land during technical emergencies maybe engine failure or compressor stalls or maybe flaps malfunction?
Flying single engine also gives us the opportunity to fly a go around so basically as long we have fuel we can fly. Hope that answers your question 🙌✈️
Very Well done Pascal but it sounded a bit complicated, i mean 😊
It's a lot to do in a short time. Definitely not the easiest approach. ✌️✈️
Hi Pascal, I am not a pilot but found this interesting. You mentioned that you were on a Guide Slope for 26 L so I guess that you have to have a go around all planned even though most times it is not needed? Also when landing from the go around are you still landing on the same runway 26 L? Sorry if these questions are too crazy in advance.
Not a pilot but I can help I guess. You always have to brief the go around procedure, its not a "most of the times not needed" thing. On the video he never planned to land on runway 26L, he flyes the circling approach for 08R.
