  • That shot at 1:16 was genius, Kong is simply scooping up a handful of water to drink but from a humans POV that handful of water looks like a huge waterfall as it falls out of his palm, it was a clever way too subtly show how absolutely huge Kong is.

  • The CGI in this movie is amazing. It looks so realistic and at 60 FPS so realistic even more. Gotta appreciate Legendary Pictures for putting so much work on this amazing movie I love the monsterverse. More so than that of the DCU and MCU.

    • My guess is that coz it's an link to hollow earth is the reason why big sea creatures stay near skull island instead of around the entire world coz the prey is as big as they need to eat. True fact alot of species in real life went extinct because their prey got too small and wasn't enough to sustain a species. It's why the sabre toothed cat went extinct

    • Gareth Edwards and Jordan Vogt-Roberts express a clear understanding of how to approach scale in films. Gareth had the easier job, already having much bigger kaiju to work with, but he made even the smallest kaiju in that film feel monstrous in size. Jordan had kaiju much smaller than the others and he still managed to make Kong feel like he really could go toe to toe with the King of the Monsters.

    • I know a bit about water simulation and cgi. And while it looks particularly impressive and massive, it doesnt look very realistic. Its a bit too "misty" The shot in frame 1:10 looks so good it might be filmed and the hand was added in cgi afterwards. But in the shot afterwards, where his hand goes up to his mouth. That water is not well done. It looks like some kind of fine sand rather than water flowing. Even with big masses of water, its not that "misty" and "light weighted" But thats just my two cents

Square cube law "When an object undergoes a proportional increase in size its new surface area is proportional to the square of the multiplier and its new volume is proportional to the cube of the multiplier" Or in much simpler words " Double in size, your surface area increases by 4 while your volume increases by 8. Kong is 104 feet tall. A silverback gorila is 6 feet tall and the heaviest recorded wild gorilla registered weights 267 kg /589 pounds. 104/6 =17,33. In other words of you take a silverback gorila and turn it into Kong you will make it 17,33 times heavier, 17,33 times wider, 17,33 times deeper. A 17,33 fold increase in size means Kong's volume thus his weight will increase 5204 x (the cube of 17,33). 5204 x 589 = 3.065.156 pounds /1390 tons. This makes Kong 1,6 times taller and 8,3 times heavier than the blue whale the biggest and heaviest marine mammal on Earth ( 29.9 meters /98 ft, 173 tons). A 393 ft Kong would be 65,5 times taller, 65,5 times wider, 65,5 times deeper. A 65,5 fold increase in size means Kong's volume thus his weight will increase 281,011 x (the cube of 65,5). 281,011 x 589 =165.515.479 pounds /75,076 tons. 4,1 times taller and 433,965 x heavier than the blue whale. Godzilla better watch out.
