Actually its for the album cover. Historically black artists in the 50s and early 60s had vague covers without their faces so companies could sell their products in white areas. Bobby's album was just the silouhette to sell in black communities because he sounded black but was white. A good example is Nat King Cole, he sings like a white guy (of the time), but is black.

Music truly comes from one’s Soul. Bobby’s style and groove transcends the boundaries applied by society. It kind of reminds me of Charlie Pride back in the day. White folks, even racist ones didn’t know Charlie was a Black man and it didn’t matter, he was special…. And so was Bobby Caldwell. What a gem.

Bobby Caldwell may be gone but his music will forever live on. Don't be sad about his passing but be happy of the legacy he left behind.
Amen.

I love the part where He sings: "In My World there's only you..." Rest in Peace Robert! Many hugs and prayers to his family and close friends.
♥️💔
😢😢
In my world there's only you sounds like this is his woman.. 😢😢😢😢Rip
@@Care960 I'm pretty sure Robert sung this song to someone very special. But this is the part my mother used to sing to me in the car. This is why I love it. #RipMommy
I am flabbergasted, my whole life i thought this man was black. Dude got soul.
I listen to this song everyday , it's on repeat in the store I work in , I was today years old , even though I hear it daily I still love the song 🎉
Out of nowhere last night I started singing this song. It was one of my favorites. Imagine my surprise and sadness when I heard that Bobby Caldwell had passed yesterday. His spirit paid me and everyone of his fans a visit yesterday. May he rest in power among the angels.
I think that was the case too with me.....because it was either the same day or the day before his passing this song was in my head.....it's one of my absolute faves but something hit different that day. Today (first day of Spring 2023) I heard the song for the first time all the way through since his passing......tears was slowly rolling down my face.....he left us with timeless music....
@Veronica Gonzalez, Weird I had this music pop up in my head and then I searched the video and saw the comments and everyone is giving their condolences, Weird 😱
Wow, the same thing happened to me! I was listening to him like my mind said go and listen to him then I found out he is gone. Rest him in peace ❤
RIP Bobby, your voice and your music will live on forever. Thank you.
What a gem.
Because we saw him on soul train we knew his ethnicity or nationality. But because he has a great voice and a lot of black folks love good vocals, and a nice jazz beat in the background, he was all right with us!
He was on American Bandstand too. That's how I knew.
Seriously, who's ever idea was it to just jump out of the shadow like that is sheer genius! If it was Caldwell, he's beyond.🙌🏾 And he did every instrument!
There was an article explaining that it was indeed his idea, he traced his silhouette in the bench.
after I got married in '93, I heard this song again, and immediately thought of my wife. This is my song about her - 30 years later...it's still..."In my world, only you..." #marriageisreal
Did you know that a group from the Mid-80's called Go West did a cover of that song and had hit the charts back in 1993?
My mom had his record it was played on Saturdays it was so loud I could hear it outside when I was swinging. I was 5 then listening ELO, The BeeGees , Disco 😂 George Benson, AL Green , Kc and the sunshine band and more. Good memories 😊😢
I came back to let you know..I'm white as snow lol ...damn good song 💯 I never knew though I won't lie 😅
I thought he was a black man all this time.
Same here.. Lol
I thought Bob James was too.
....with a splendid voice like that, who wouldn't?
I can’t believe he’s white, been listening to this song since it came out
Fucking same!!! Regardless of his color this is a great song and his voice is awesome
I don't really care if he black or white. Good music Is Good music.
Yeah I agree I’m black and I listen to Led Zeppelin,Aerosmith, etc I love gr8 music The Bee Gees etc....Mint Condition 3T’s etc...Soooo Yeah I love it all
Maybe but don't act like you didn't think this dude was black! Mans got so much soul!
@@bashlove9641 I thought he was at first, as well honestly believing Teena Marie was a black woman at first lol. Still both are the many legendary beacons of soul, jazz and funk!

R.I.P Bobby Caldwell. Love this song ❤️ your legacy will live on. This song will be sampled for years to come. Thanking God for no more pain and suffering 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Blue eyed soul can sing. RIP Bobby Caldwell❣️🙏🏾
No doubt it.
That's all it means - whytes can actually sing. They still can't touch most blak Americans, except for the bottom rung.
Real love , is MANY COLORS 🎉
The fact that they didn’t want to use him for something he created. Whether he was black or white. This song is a classic. And touched millions. Love . What you won’t do for love.
