Main takeaway from this game is that we HAVE to convert our chances, especially against a good side like the Netherlands. We put in good performances but that will mean nothing in Germany if we don't score. I'm positive we can have an impact though, big game against Northern Ireland on Tuesday. Mon Scotland!!! 🏴⚽️
We are creating chances which is a real positive. We just lack a goal scoring forward in the mold of Lukaku and we need a couple of central defenders to burst through and we will be a match for anyone
@Kardsman Exactly right, up top is our main weakness since Adams, Dykes, Christie and Shankland all chip in but the spot is never really nailed down. Our lack of quality depth in defence was shown when Tierney went off.
Yup, it's a surprise for me tbh that the scotland team failed to score at least 2 goals with all those decent chances they got.
Shambles defensively. Were easily outmuscled and outjumped in the box. Scotland used to be tough to play against. You don’t normally give such an easy goals away.

How unfair? Scotland had some chances but couldn't score. Surely, that's not v good play not unfairness. The Scots' mindset is wrong. Celebrating a 0-0 result as a victory does not help. And it's encouraged by the manager.

Reality Checkpoint - I have watched Scotland's National Team compete in qualifiers for Euro's & World Cups since 1974 making me a loyal supporter and that support will never dwindle. Results however matter and tell a story and the story they tell is that Scotland's National Football Team has mostly been a Tier 3 team and occasionally a decent Tier 2 team but other countries also have good Tier 2 teams that our team have never been able to navigate a path past, results show this and the reason why Scotland has never gotten further than the group stages which I say without malice or criticism. A team can only go as far as the sum of its parts allows. I am looking forwards to supporting Scotland in Germany for EURO2024 but results to date would indicate to me that this current team (which is decidedly better than many we have had) will narrowly miss proceeding further than the group stages . That said 50 years is a long time to wait for this so I will end by saying I hope every player finds the confidence and level to take the team further than it has ever gone before.
Nice comment, and sad but true. As a Scot living in Germany I was looking forward to Scotland putting up a good show against what, was a struggling for confidence German side. After watching this game, and Germany gubbing France now I´m not so optimistic. With a few good EPL players, and the ones plying their trade abroad, it´s possible to build a pretty capable Scotland midfield and defence; the part that looks like a tier 2 team. Then you get to the forward line...where the strikers are as bad as I can ever remember. Whatever happened to the seeming production line of young strikers Scotland used to produce? Surely there must be some kid out there better than this lot? If not then I think the best we can hope for against Germany is a gritty backs to the wall 0-0.
@@salsabil44 There's a coincidence, was also a Scot living in Hamburg until recently. I agree with you and everything I said confirmed when Northern Ireland beat Scotland. My prognosis for the two remaining friendlies would be a narrow win against Gibraltar a loss to Finland and back home after the EURO 2024 group stages, unfortunately 😥

We played the Dutch off the park for an hour. Best Scotland have played in years. If we play like this at the Euros but take our chances we will do well. Our defence was a joke at the end. Souttar is extremely weak for second and fourth goals, Ralston lost his man for the corner but then Patterson didn’t even try with any sort of effort to head it away when their player drifted into his zone, he was like a schoolboy. Patterson needs to realize defending a corner in the air is as important as on his feet as those moments of a lack of Willingness to win one header will send us home from the Euros. Souttar and Ralston not at this level. The other lads played exceptional.
Good game indeed. But starting Wieffer was an interesting experiment how to not play well but also win. Expect him to never start a game for the 2024 season. Moreover Wijnaldum, Wieffer and Simons together is just bad management overal... smh

We changed 3 of the back 5 with 20 minutes to go then conceded 3 goals. In a competitive match you would not change your backline unless you were forced into it due to injury.

8th September 2023, only games we've lost since then have been against Spain, England, France and Netherlands and 3 of them were friendlies, our competitive record since the last EUROs is W15 D3 L4, fully confident going into our group in June.

Scotland's inability to produce players who can finish and take chances consistently, brutally exposed. It does look like the result massively flattered the Dutch. Not sure what happened in the last 20 mins but Scotland we treated to a lesson in finishing. Poor result for Scotland.

Remember a result is different from performance. I’ve played in the lower leagues and still involved with football. We have had better results with worse performances. We played a top 6 team off the park for 70 minutes, another day and we win that. As long as we play like this the results will come. It’s better to play like this and be a good team where the good football will pay off than to be a defensive team like we were back in the day and every 40 games we get a fluke 1-0 win against a big team. We had 14 shots against the Netherlands and scored 0. We beat France 1-0 with one shot. We are a superb team right now and it’ll pay off playing like this with these magnificent players.

Scotland my God you missed so many chances. Foolish defence by the Netherlands wherein they lost the ball several times to Scotland strikers and yet failed to score. Though the score doesnt do justice to how Scotland played, Netherlands scored whenever they got the chance. That's how you grow into a strong team like the Netherlands . Areas of improvement for Scotland - finishing, goalkeeper and back four zonal marking. If Scotland had converted even one of their chances the team's psychology and results would've taken a different direction.
