Communist Cuba on the brink of collapse

2024 ж. 7 Мам.
550 465 Рет қаралды

The future of Cuba and the trajectory of communism are under threat, with citizens fighting back against the regime.
Protesters are taking to the streets amid an ongoing economic crisis, making their concerns heard.
Cuba’s communist leadership is facing a fierce backlash that has not been seen since similar protests in July 2021.
Since the 2021 protests, it is estimated that nearly 500,000 Cubans have sought refuge in the United States.
In this Sky News Digital Originals, we explore whether Cuba’s communist leadership could be about to tumble.
“The Cuban regime knows the Cuban people are getting smarter and they're not afraid,” Associate Professor Amalia Daché from the University of Pennsylvania told Sky News Digital Originals.

  • Fulgencio Batista led a coup d'etat in 1952. It toppled a democratically elected government and initiated another dictatorship (one of many in the history of the Republic) Naturally, the middle class did not support Batista and supported the rebels in the mountains. When Castro entered Havana during the first weeks of January 1959 the entire island, less remnants of Batista supporters, idolized him as a liberator. I was a child in Havana at the time and remember the adulation of the masses on TV as he entered the city. Shortly after came the puppet trials televised live for the public. Individuals were sentenced to death for real or imagined political crimes. I remember those. I was 8 years old and remember the masses yelling "Paredon" on TV. I didn't even know what Paredon meant. I learned quick enough that it was the masses demanding the firing squad for individuals put on trial. The neighborhood committees were instituted shortly after. Each neighborhood had an assigned family charged with the task of spying and snitching on the residents. My parents sat us down and told us that we must not repeat anything that was said in our home to any one. This instilled fear in our child minds, fear that our parents could be arrested and our family destroyed. It was shortly after my father's business (a business that he built from scratch through sweat equity) was nationalized, when we left the island during 1960. Over 100,000 other members of the middle class who did not approve of the regime left during or shortly after our departure. In Miami, we sought political asylum in the US. The US took us in and adopted us as its own. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to start over, and have always been thankful to our adopted country. This is the communism at work at its beginning as seen through the eyes of an 8-9 year old child. The situation on the island got progressively worse throughout the years. I consider myself lucky that my parents had the forethought to take us out of there to a place free of oppression where we could grow up with freedom of speech and of mind.

There is upward mobility in first world nations. Communism is stale and stagnant everyone is poor and stays poor except for the governing communist elite. They always live well although they lead the masses to believe that they are equal. There is NO equality in communism just oppression poverty and misery. Communists want the people poor and hungry. If the masses have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, they won't spend too much time planning revolutions. That is the reality my friend.

    • @@cptprice111 It is the middle class that makes a nation prosper. The larger it is, the more opportunities for a high standard of living for the citizens. There is upward mobility in first world nations. The poor do not stay poor forever and there is always help from the government and/or charitable organizations to get the poor out of poverty. Communism on the other hand is stale and stagnant. Every one is poor except for the ruling elite and there is very little room at the top of the pyramid. The top brass always lives well. Some people are too ignorant to realize that the goal of the communist elite is not so much the well being of the citizens: it is rather to keep themselves in power. In order to achieve this they need to keep the "proletariat" poor and hungry. If people have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, they won't spend too much time planning revolutions. Communism breeds poverty, oppression, corruption and misery. There must have been a reason why all of Eastern Europe shook itself off of communism back in 1989 and later Russia in 1991. Ask an average Russian, Pole or Bulgarian if they would like to live under communism again. We all know what their answer would be. That is the reality of the matter.

The problem in Australia is that the Greens and some other activist groups (as discovered during the referendum) are pushing communism. Taking into account UN agenda 23/30, the emergency legislation that was used during Covid to restrict activity and freedom imposed on an extremely compliant voter base is a concern. If this was a practice run toward something more sinister, that is, to use climate emergency as a trigger for Labor to rule by degree and abandon our democratic system in the process, then we are all in big trouble.

    • The Cuban people have a reputation for being highly educated but it's all lies. Cuba earned most of its money through fraud, leasing "doctors" with less medical knowledge than first year American medical students to countries throughout south America and Africa and also to some Asian countries. Reforming the government to be more honest will eliminate half of the country's income and most of its political influence including its close ties and mercenaries in Venezuela (which are how and why it gets its oil from there). You're blind to how different Americans are to other populations. Cuba's problems are vastly larger than a government. America thrives without Federal fascism. Cuba has never had a prosperous or independence-capable population. @@electro_sykes

Castro ordered the local militia to put a stop to it violently. The local militia knew the protesters. They were not going shoot at their neighbors, friends and famliy so they stood there and watched. Castro was beyond pissed at this point. He was especially mad at Hubert Matos, who was in charge. (revolutionary figure and in Castros inner circle) He sent in select Cuban troops from the western side of the island,(Havana basically). On the 4th day of protesting, they opened fire on the protesters. Some were killed. My dad was arrested and beaten despite not being involved . This goon army sent there detained a mass amount of people just for being in the area.

And also Cuba is a dictatorship that has two blockades one from the Cuban government against the Cuban people which is called internal blockade and also one the American embargo against Cuba so Cuba # has a lot of issues a lot of corruption, mismanagement, stages of food, economic crisis and social issues and political violence in that country that the international media, including the US doesn’t talk about and the American politicians, including Republicans do not care about Cuba #’s problems. They used to Cuban exiles in the United States. For their votes And also, the American people does not care what goes on in Cuba even Americans don’t know where Cuba # is on a map. And also in the future there is gonna a civil war in Cuba.Cubans fight each other for freedom.
