鑫元鴻的輪組以前很超值,很耐用,早期用在捷安特廠車輪組上,我老車上還有一組用到現在。原來鑫元鴻從輪框、鋼絲都自己生產,大部份鋼絲都用協達或是DT,花鼓鑫元鴻也都自家的,不是用昆騰或是喬紳,怎麼一點錢都不留給別人賺 XD。國產就給讚啦!

Most cheap bikes that have unbranded hubs are formula. Never see them otherwise in the higher end, with a cheap rim and a cheap hub I don’t know why they’re 1500.

I wonder if the staff at the manual calibration part of the line have a target of a certain number of wheels they have to get through per shift? Since calibration is the final step in manufacturing, I hope the staff I given time to fine tune all the wheels to the correct spoke tensions.
almost certainly, i know when they make frames for pro teams they make sure to use the best most experienced workers in the factory and there's no time constraints but what consumers get is the rushed time crunch version
They definitely don't. Nearly every single brand new wheel requires at least a minimum amount of truing and bearing adjustment before being sold.

@@JoehnDoue my fingers, a truing stand, my eyes lol. Formula has been around for many years, but this is pretty standard for (as I said) pretty much all wheels. Next time you're in your LBS probe their brains a little bit. These mass produced wheels especially need checked before they go out the door. Not doing so is an amateur move idc how much they cost.

They are made of aluminium covered with a carbon film, which is why they are cheaper than full carbon.

Mr Video Editor you need a redo regarding how the mold works in carbon rim manufacturing.
The carbon you see is pre-impregnated with resin and harder. this is stored at low temperatures, so it doesn't cure. The fabric is cut at 45 degrees, and then 2 layers are pressed together (or maybe more). When the layers are put in the mold, a plastic bag is put in, this is used to push the layers against the walls of the mold using air pressure. In the oven, the resin gets cured. (now you know this, watch again... you can see every step)

2:34 Typically there is a piece of steel inserted into aluminum rims at the joint.
Not if they are welded. If they are pinned then it is most likely an aluminium plug.

interesting to see how carbon wheels are actually more of a hassle to make, and how wheels are actually kind of hand-made. I had in my mind a 100% automated process for some reason.

@@MadChalet I thought it was a mold, never had seen hybrid carbon-aluminum wheels marketed as such before. It could potentially be dangerous if that's the case tbh, because of galvanic corrosion
@@MadChalet How to make a perfect rim with leaves?? Well you need a mold... here in aluminum, which then goes in the oven. Everything is in pictures... a minimum of reflection

wait, so carbon rims are not 100% carbon but alloy core with carbon finish?
this used to be the case with some rims 15 years ago, but these rims i believe are full crabon. in the video they first finish an aluminium rim with tumbling, drilling, and engraving, then they cut to an entire different rim's crabon lay-up. otherwise it would make zero sense to engrave and drill the aluminium insert. that's not what they do in the video. as a curiosity, the old mavic cosmic did have an aluminium insert for some reason. the carbon "jacket" on it (term picked by me) was just a very thin layer of crabon on a conventional rim to make it look more aero it was a really weird thing at the time, cca. 2009
Just what is the point of wrapping an aluminium rim in carbon?
Perhaps because the stiffness contribution of carbon fibre is best achieved by placing it at the outside surfaces.

I am curious. Was it poor video editing or were those carbon wheels simply carbon sheets bonded to aluminium wheels? Or was it that an aluminium wheel rim is first produced in order to act.as a template mold and then used as a guide for the carbon layup? Thanks in advance.

It's alloy wheels with carbon surface. This is why those wheels are cheaper than full carbon wheels
it's a poor edit. you can see the aluminium rim being finished and then they cut to a shallow section carbon rim being made in the stainless steel mould. if you don't believe me, why would they first drill and engrave an alloy part that would just be hidden under carbon? it would be an unnecessary step. this isn't what's happening in the video
Nothing especcialy. Standard mass production. But at low cost for human labor.
