Learning to slow down at the end of the day has helped me get better quality sleep and make my afterwork time count for myself. I’ve prepared this calm evening routine video to show you how I fill my evenings and what habits I have to relax after a week at work.
Somedays before covid, I would feel like my evenings would be drained by my commute time and the need to cook, gym or even finalise some work. It was quite frustrating as I felt like I was stuck in a sleep / work / eat routine. Since working from home, I’ve been lucky to gain back some precious time. In any case, even with a commute there is ways to make the most out of our evenings to calm and relax ourselves. For me the biggest difference was to stop rushing to do everything and appreciate the process of reading, sitting or cooking - whatever it was.

    • I slowly dim the lights and gradually turn the volume down on tv or music etc. I’m an early to bed person so I can put away the day, read and escape a little before sleep. Meditation is a big part of my evening / sleep routine. And when I feel overwhelmed or uninspired my cat (Willow) and I watch one of your videos and we soon feel ready to relax and wind down again.   • i love how simple and normal living is seen as being aesthetic. Because this has been a forgettable beauty of living, just to be normal and have a quiet and cozy evening. For me this is my perfect way of living, no fake thrilling parties or fancy stuff, but peaceful and soothing life.

  • Like you, I enjoy a warm drink before bed. Usually tea and sometimes hot cocoa. I make sure that the kitties are well fed so they aren't naughty and asking for food when I'm trying to sleep. Cats are such creatures of habit and they help me keep to a calm routine. Your soft lighting is so pretty and everything you cook looks delicious. Tell Momo and Coco that I think they are adorable.   • Warm milk with honey or maple syrup and some cinnamon. I don’t do this as much in summer but once my favorite season, Autumn starts I will make some every evening. I also drink bone broth.

  • In these vids I always miss how to create such routines when living a busy live and have to go working. I leave the house at 5:45 and come home at 18:00. I need to be in bed around 20:45. I don't get time to relax.

    • Thank you for watching 🌼! You’re right, it’s much harder when we have to go work outside of the house. I’m very lucky to work from home as my office is remote since the covid times ☺️. When I used to commute, I wouldn’t try to do as much but at least do one easy thing that I felt was purely for myself (a dimly lit shower for example). Hope you get some time to relax on your days off 💛

  • I really liked your video, love the colors of your house, the lights, your checkered mug (which brand makes it? Can I found it online?) Once I was a night owl too, I stayed up until 3, unfortunately the new job doesn't allow me, and I miss the peace and silence of the night so much, I miss staying up without looking at the clock, without feeling tired.
