Mom's Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
I wanted to share the peach cobbler recipe that was passed down to be from my Mom. This was also the same recipe her mother used to make as well. It's really easy to make, only I love to cook it in my camp dutch ovens.
Check out my Amazon Affiliates storefront to find ideas and products that I use camping, cooking, and in the shop. www.amazon.com/shop/abom79
Mom's Cuppa Cuppa Cuppa Peach Cobbler
The recipe:
1 cup self rising flour
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 cup milk
1 28oz can peaches with syrup
Abom's optional additions:
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
3-4 pads of butter on top
Mix all of the ingredients except the peaches together. Grease the dutch oven with vegetable shortening. Pour batter into pot.
Dump the can of peaches into the batter, gently swirl them into the batter but don't mix them up a lot. Sprinkle the top with a little bit of cinnamon if desired. Also optional, add a few pads of butter on top.
Bake in the camp dutch oven at 350-375 degrees. For my Lodge 10" oven I use 8 charcoal briquettes on the bottom, and 14 briquettes on top. ( I use briquettes because they're consistent on size, shape, and amount of heat each one puts off)
Once you set the pot over the coals and even them out on the lid, start your timer and cook for right at an hour, maybe a little more or a little less. You just have to keep checking it till it's looking right. Keep in mine the charcoal briquettes will last about an hour then will need to be replaced if you have to cook longer, especially if your oven is not covered and it's windy out. If your charcoal is starting to die out 30-40 minutes into the cook, get a fresh chimney of charcoal burning and ready to replace the ones on the pot so that you can continue cooking at the proper temps.
Once the cobbler is cooked it should look golden on top and bubbling. Remove from heat and dump the charcoals off the lid. Let it cool a few minutes and it's ready to devour! Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to make this one even better! Better yet, make some homemade ice cream!
This is a great summertime dish that goes excellent with BBQ's, family gatherings, neighborhood block parties, or fun filled party's that is sure to please!
You're spoiling us with the frequency of videos. Don't get me wrong, I love it. There's nothing better than having an Abom video in the queue.
Looks delicious, Adam! Looks like another recipe for my Abom camping recipe book! Thanks for sharing!
This recipe works with any fruit. Can also use fresh.
Thanks Adam, and thanks for your Mother’s time sharing her recipes and creating great memories of her. Stay safe and keep having fun. Fred.🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
One of my all time way down favorites...so simple but oh soo good. Thanks for the upload Adam.
I gotta try this. Looked great.
You got my mouth watering Adam. will try this when peach season hits here in Canada. love your cooking vids.
Like many other commenters have stated, this brings to mind Boy Scout camping trips. We made many fine batches but we screwed up a few as well. Most fails could be attributed to the impatience of youth. We always had a wood fire (as opposed to charcoal) which made it harder to hold a predetermined temperature. But we always ate what me made and said it was good. Yours, on the other hand, reached the peak of perfection and I know how good it was. Made me hungry! 😎👍
Brings back good times!!!!
Watched this when it came out, got a Dutch oven today (two years later) and raced back to this video. Can’t wait to try this recipe! Thanks Adam!
Great! I can almost taste it from southern Indiana. Mom made hers the same way.
I gained 5 pounds just watching this. Mom did this when we would go to the lake. Thanks for the blast from the past.
As usual, I’ll be trying it tomorrow! I have so enjoyed your Dutch Oven recipes!
That looks delicious! You have great hazel eyes in that lighting, too!
Cupa Cupa Cupa. I'm going to make one tomorrow.
Back in Boy Scouts, the dutch oven peach cobbler was made with canned biscuit dough as a top and bottom crust. Wikipedia says they use scones in the UK. Lots of different regional versions of cobbler. Your mom's looks delicious. Savory cobblers are good, too. It's not just dessert.
That looks good!!
Wow! Looks amazing 😋
Mmmm yummy! That looks awesome!!
Outstanding
I’m gonna “go ahead” and try this!
Thanks, MomBom... I appreciate it.
Thank you for sharing the recipe and your cooking process.
That. Looks. Amazing!
Fantastic looking desert , thanks for sharing the recipe !!

I LOVE the Peach or Apple cobbler !!!!!! Ice Cream on top of it..... It will be GREAT to have Smell Video. Make Nice Apple pie next ???? GOOD LIFE ~~~~~~
Please show us your Mom's or your blackberry cobbler, I do so much enjoy your cooking!!
I think I just figure out what that Stonehenge configuration was all about…medieval bbq pit! ** We were recently gifted a dutch oven (same oven we used to enjoyed camping cobblers over 45 years ago). We’re keeping grandkids next week and we’re going to use it and try a peach cobbler. 🤞 Enjoyed your video.
I remember a very similar desert with strawberries...all we had was rum and raisin ice cream ... Add 4 more coals top and bottom for that extra time... I bet it was delicious.
Do this same thing with Mangos. Vey good!
Didn't know about cobblers (uncommon around here) but I will give it a try for sure! Thanks for sharing your mom's recipe Adam! Cheers.
Give it a try! 👌🏻
that looks so good. I had a friend make a blueberry muffin/cake in a dutch oven once, you may want to try that too.
I've made them many times in loaf pans because of the amount we cook. I'm sure it's great in the dutch ovens also.
Looks good, I like your recipe better than the cake mix, I may try it with two cans of peaches 😮😮😮
Nice!! Great video... Yummy...:-)
Bet that would be good with cherry filling.
I use cherry pie filling also
Thanks for the easy recipe! Good timing for me, the peach trees here in SoCal are loaded right now. This will be a great way to use them up. The only other change I may make is to add a little fresh lemon juice. It seems to add flavor intensity to most fruits.
Sounds great!
Fantastic!! I used to make Peach Cobbler and other dishes in dutch ovens as a Scout. Looking forward to working with them again. Thanks for the tips!
Yummy I will definitely make this. Hope it's calorie free LOL
MomBom Rocks!
That made me drool…. Looks so good! Can you tell me what is your preference for charcoal?
I use Kingsford briquettes. Lowe’s always has them in twin 20lb bundles which is near me. They are consistent on size and temp so easy to regulate heat.
Thank You Adam looks very yummy can you please tell me can i use less sugar or no sugar at all ? Thank you for your wonderful videos I am from South Africa
You can certainly use artificial sweeteners in place of granulated sugar if you'd like.
@@AbomAdventures thank you for your reply I am from South Africa
I'd eat that. All of it.
Blue Bell ! Hell yah!
Can I use this same recipe format for a 12’ oven?
If I was to do this on the stove or in the oven how long and what temp
Only way to make it better would be have an ice cream freezer going for the hour the cobbler is cooling. Homemade all the way! I plan to try this with peaches and apples. I assume you can substitute 29 oz of canned apples with similar results.
I have tried this recipe with canned apples and it doesn’t work very well, turns out more bready.
I guessed half wrong, I guessed regular old cream. Both are awesome on cobblers. In my opinion of course.
do you need to use self rising flour with this recipe?
I’m in
What? No nutmeg! John Townsend would not approve.😀
You turned the base clockwise at first, then turned it counter clockwise the second time. 😂 You should keep the directions consistent! I'm sure it tastes good either way.
i love that you call it an dutch oven while no dutch man ever use it
Pennsylvania dutch I belive
Us as in the entire “Dutch oven” cooking world
where are you from? I am from Opp, Al. Now living in Tallahassee, Fl
Pensacola
Looks great. I don’t have a bbq. What kind of temp and cooking time in the oven?
350° in the oven, it’ll take 45 minutes to an hour. Just keep checking it.
My Mama would make cobbler out of apple, black berries, any thing she could get her hands on,, blue berries OH mY God it was good.
Noms
May be sacrilgious to mess with mom's mom's recipe but maybe some fresh ground nutmeg on the top.
i had to take extra diabetes meds watching you cook that. lol looks good
Your Mom sounds like a smart lady. Swirl.
Great job, now substitute cream for milk... not kidding...
Can I take 250 gram for 1 cup? From Europe…
No

What kinda communist wouldn’t like peach cobbler? COME ON MAN!
Only a dog faced commie soldier wouldn't. "In all the years of, I'm saying that in 2020 we had the most in all of the peach..... just eat the peaches." (going for a President Biden parody there)
