Cessna 172 ✈︎ Grand Bahama Island - 3 Countries in 3 Weeks: Part 10
Plan your trip to this amazing part of the world 🌴🍹🐠 www.bahamas.com/
This series has taken a lot of my time to edit this year, and I always have a mixed feeling when I finish a big series. On one hand, I'm glad to have it off my plate so I can move on to new projects. On the other hand, I'm internally sad that I'll no longer be reliving these memories every time I edit. Thank you, ALL of you, for supporting this channel and sticking with us through Part 10. 🙌🏼

I’m 73 years old. Got my PPL waaay back in ‘76, then my Instrument certification in ‘82 at which point, I stopped flying because of the cost. Flying still haunts me. While I fly vicariously through flying r/c planes (also damned expensive 😁), piloting a full scale plane again would be wonderful. I just found your channel and subscribed. Thanks for taking me along. Wishing the best for you two and be safe.
I am a retired airline pilot. Have not flown in 30 years and have not flown light aircraft in 56 years. I am amazed at the electronics that I see these days on light aircraft. Much better than we had on the last airplane that I flew which was a Lockheed L- 1011. Amazing!
Well Fred, IMO, you flew the greatest airliner that was ever built! I had the privilege of flying aboard the TriStar sporting the Delta livery well over a dozen times in the 70's and 80's. She was the most beautiful, comfortable, roomy & safe airplane I was ever on and she was the most advanced passenger jet in her day. I envy you that you flew her and I wish you all the best in your retirement, Captain!😎
@@BogWraith1 thanks! It was a great experience! The best to you. Stay safe!!
My first time ever in the air was in an L-1011. I will never forget it.
Dear Fred: Get a Light Sport Aircraft and go fly! I wish I had the means to do it.
Years ago, I regularly flew LAX-EWR, BOS, JFK, ATl on TWA L1011s. Best airliner ever.
My number 1 rule about flying in Florida or The Bahamas is to have your flying done by noon in the warm months.
The American Pilot at 10:10 was a little stern LOL
yeah he definitely wasn't feeling the vibe LOL
That's what I was thinking. He definitely could've been a little nicer about it.
Yep he was very much an unhappy camper for sure.
American 1767 captain crabby.
LOL! That was harsh. My guess is he as headed right into a TS and decided late they needed to deviate.
You all are the loveliest people. Thanks for taking us along on this journey!!!
Nice toast to Jimmy. Brought a tear
Josh, please don't ever stop filming. Your videos are absolutely inspiring. It's awesome to hear that your partner in crime is always pushing you outside your comfort zone, mine does the same. Your flight travels aways kick of a travel bug in myself.
Nice speech at the end! All truth!
This excellent video and your trip should be on the Discovery Channel. The sights, the professionalism in the cockpit, the beautiful chemistry between both of you. You both inspire so many people. Thank you for the hours and multiple weeks of work producing this video. I know it's a labor of love! My wish for both of you is for you to still be flying together for the next 50 years! You are both adorable.❤
In ANY situation, seeing cumulus build-up is always discerning.🌩
I was lucky to be able to watch this whole series, I watched all 10 episodes and can actually say this is the best series I have ever watched. Thank you so much for providing some first class entertainment.
Josh and Chelsea: once again, you guys knocked it out of the park. What a wonderful record of the last bit of your long trip. And yes, those Bahamian waters are stunning!
Josh has literally the best life I swear lol
I’ve watched the outro ( 35:05 ) about a hundred times! it’s so inspiring! you guys rock! keep it up 😊
I like that American airline pilots tone when he request left deviation and the controller ask if he could stay present heading. Lol. Uhhhh, if I didn't need the deviation, I wouldn't have asked!
Josh and Chelsea, thanks for taking us along on this memory making trip to The Bahamas in your Skyhawk II. This was like a fairytale flying along with you both. The sights and views were amazing everywhere you look. The playful dog on the beach was so fun to watch as he trusted you so he could scamper in the sand. You make his day! Blessings to you as you go on your next adventure. The editing and music were very professional.
I have had the privilege of watching a few of your videos and even subscribing. But what tops it off is that you guys visited my HOME, Freeport and by extension The Bahamas. Glad you visited and enjoyed the hospitality
Josh, I grew to admire you several years ago….and that admiration, dare I say, affection for you and your sharing has been increased 1000 fold with Chelsea’s addition to our”family”. Thanks for letting us tag along!
I did trips like that back in the 70s and I found that leaving as early as possible in the morning was the best way to avoid the buildups. The waters there were beautiful at that time I can only hope that hasn’t changed. You’re building great memories together and my wife and I still smile when we remember the flights we made there over 50 years ago. I trust that the both of you were wearing the highest number sunblock you could find. 😎
Yowzah. Chelsea is looking fine!!
My family and I just got back from a North Bay, Ontario to Vancouver round trip in our Arrow. This was our first long family trip in our first airplane. We took a few days off here and there to rest and relax, getting home tired but ready to plan our next trip. Thanks to both of you at Aviation 101 for helping inspire our family adventures.
First... the pit.... LOVE THE PIT!!!! Second... it's your business but you really should go sea a jeweler for that lady. Beautiful video as usual. Thank you for taking us with you.
Josh - Wow. Beautiful. I touched base with you once before - as a former BBC documentaries director I'm amazed at the quality and impact of your videos... Quite incredible production values, way beyond anything you'd expect for a solo (or dual!) operation. I realise that it's also exhausting and takes its considerable toll but it's great that you are able to be candid about that too. Well done you both! Two days ago I returned home to the UK after flying my Cessna 182 in stages from London to the Sahara desert on the Moroccan/Algerian border. I totally get the adventure and the point about being taken out of one's comfort zone. The most incredible views I have ever experienced from the air in 25 years of flying... It feels very odd being back in the big city and like you I'm already dreaming up my next adventure (maybe to the Arctic Circle, no less!). You guys should come over to our side of the Pond (maybe in 991 via Greenland and Iceland?) and fly in Europe (or Africa!). There's a big world out there waiting to be explored, as well you know. And if you ever do, drop me a line. I'd be happy to do what I can to help. Stephen
A video a year in the making, yet you made it current with your Jimmy Buffett tribute - thanks for that. 🦜 And Yes, as you said in your closing, do it while you're young and have the youthful capacity for enjoyment! I wouldn't trade my travel memories of my younger days for anything! Our family traveled the entire US in the late-'60s/ early '70s, camping in a tent! Most of those places we visited are NOT the same today! I also have memories of meeting Dad in the Bahamas in '84 as he sailed his 38' cutter-rigged ketch through the Bahamian 'out islands' on his way to Bermuda and then on across the Atlantic... Adventure runs deep in my family! Keep the adventures coming!!!
Congratulations on the conclusion of an epic adventure and beautiful filmmaking! I crossed the country round-trip in my Diamond DA40 from NY to Washington in September 2023 with a friend with lots of stops along the way in a 3 week vacation adventure, and we did the same in October 2022 but across a more southerly route. Just fantastic! To anyone thinking about it, do it! These are the trips you'll remember for a lifetime. Josh - I credit your adventures as a big part of motivating me!
Such a relaxing aviation and naturalist film production. From fresh coconuts on the beach, to radio transmission from ATC. The mighty N80991 sings like a bird through the sky. 🌏🇭🇲
Excellent series, thank you for sharing your adventure. Josh, NEVER try to take the Kentucky out of that girl. Safe travels.
A marriage proposal would have made the perfect ending. Come on Josh! "We're not getting any younger".
What a fantastic series! Some of the best content on KZhead. Thanks for creating this.
Great series and fantastic “last episode”. Five stars: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a great video! Thanks for taking us along for the ride through beautiful scenery.
One of the Best, if not the BEST!
Josh and Chelsea. What a wonderful video. Throughly enjoyed it from start to finish. I must admit Josh, you have an incredible way with words and life’s philosophy, especially during the last few minutes of this video. You remind me so much of my wife who constantly reminds me to enjoy and get the most out of life, while we still can. Take real good care of that woman from Kentucky! Craig Clarke 62 year old Student Pilot Kingston, Ontario Canada
In the 70's I lived in Tampa and flew many times to thhe Bahamas. My favorite place was Green Turtle Cay. Most trips in a Cherokee 6.
I would have wanted to take the dog home... She was so amazing and fun. Thanks for sharing your trip. Now, I want to take a trip there in my Glasair
All 10 episodes were great and I enjoyed living vicariously through them. That would have made one heck of a 45 day honeymoon for y'all. Put a ring on that gal's finger.
Thanks for the ride y'all.
The only channel I prefer to watch on my big screen at home. Cinematic footage and excellent production. He’s a perfectionist
Josh, the things you’ve said at the end of this video are so wise! You are a young man and realize how blessed you are. You are a blessed man!!!
Thank you for letting us live our best lives through two beautiful people. Shout out to Jimmy, love you man.
.....did this trip in 1979 from Ft Lauderdale all over the Bahama's, all the way out to San Salvador (following an ADF) , thru the Exuma Islands, got kicked off Walker's Cay at gunpoint (drug trafficing days), did it in a 179 VFR with another friend.....it was a head trip for a 21 year old.....this brought back a lot of fond memories including the line of thunderstorms leading us all the way to San Salvador.
I’m 73. I’ve followed you since the start. I’ve been fortunate to visit some of the places you have taken 991 via my career. Of all my life memories it’s the flying in new places I cherish. I flew in London in a 172, and to Key West in an Arrow, opposite ends of the earth. To see this earth from a small plane is the ONLY way to say you have experienced it. This is been a great trip . We miss you Jimmy.
Saying you guys are AWSOME is an understatement!!!!! THANK YOU
I grew up in Freeport in the 60s. Recently flew my plane there. Stayed at Pelican Bay. Memories at every turn.
I really sometimes wonder whether you don't have to Work? How ever, your documented trips are just a dream 🤩. Thanks for sharing 🙏. Greetings from Germany 😊
I understand your flights... extend your life.. do something you will always remember. I've flown a T-41B coast to coast and return, and Las Vegas NV to Alaska and return. I'm ready to do it again. I've moved from the Desert Southwest to New Hampshire. Now NH to Key West and back is on my bucket list.
We love you guys, your attitude, production, and love for aviation.
See you at LAL in 2024 ❤
Awesome video. Thanks for taking me on your journey.
Chelsea you are the best part of these videos, Josh is a very lucky man to have somebody as beautiful and smart to hang around with him while he flies around having fun
Loved this leg especially as it brought back memories of two trips in a Cherokee 6 (when you could rent one and only pay for the engine time) back in 1979 and 1981 from Charlotte, NC to Freeport and Abaco. Flew over from Fort Piece each time. Wonderful trips and memories. It was very easy back then with customs. I too am amazed at the electronics that you have these days. Thanks for all the filming and taking us along! Really enjoy watching and listening to both of you as you share all these experiences!
I just want to say Josh and Chelsea that I have watched all 10 episodes. I’ve enjoyed it and I especially enjoy all the different places you guys went. Your editor and you have done a fantastic job putting this all together and I bet you just can’t wait to get back to Austin too. Take care of you too and happy flying.
He is the editor
thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing this great experience with us 🥰🥰🥰🥰👍☺
Sept 8 my birthday, your comment about time not slowing down, as you get older you will find that time speeds up by seemingly orders of magnitude. I enjoy your posts. Aviation has changed so very much since I started flying in 1962. I am still current. Keep up the great work. I have a "few" hours in 172s.
I lived on Exhuma for some time, wonderful people on the island, the beauty of the Bahamas is impossible to capture on video, even by a top Pro like you.
Thanks for sharing the ride with all of us!
Without a doubt, the best KZhead aviator's out there. Your editing and story telling skills keep us coming back. I realize that you could have had a much more relaxing trip if you didn't film it. Thanks for taking us along! And Thanks again for the inspiration! Oh, did you know that Jimmy Buffett was an accomplished pilot? He donated two aircraft to The USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Museum in Mobile, AL. It was an anonymous donation last year but they announced this week that the planes had been donated by Buffett. A Boeing Stearman, and a Grumman Goose.
Thank you for letting me go along with you on this fantastic journey!
I love the frustration, then the acknowledgment and acceptance of the frustration. Whether aviation oriented or not, we can all align to it. Thanks for bringing us along. You flew directly over me a few months back, didn’t know it at the time though.
I have no idea how long I have followed your channel. But, this 10 part series has certainly kicked it in the butt. I watched every one of them. You two did an awesome job staying safe, and not taking any unfavorable chances. God Bless you both.
Great trip, thanks for sharing! Marsh Harbour and the Abaco Islands are probably my most favorite places. If you make it back there, be sure to spend some time. Great choice for eating a Colors! Fly safe!
Thx Josh & Chelsea! This was an incredible journey & I'm so glad you shared it with us... 👍
Great video as usual.cmon Josh get a ring 💍 on that finger
Awww. Super cute~ Looks like it was a great time!
Josh, the trip was amazing. More than that, your command of the English language reflects a maturity beyond your years. If you ever tire of flying, which I very mush doubt, I think you will find success in writing.
Aviation 101, my number 1 spot. Totally enjoy every adventure you two share with each other, and the rest of the world. Stay safe, healthy and love each other like there is NO tomorrow!
Amazing final video… thanks for taking us along!!!
beautiful video with the basic elements of flying, living and love: Top notch Bahamas is on my wish list
Spectacular conclusion! Thank you for a beautiful relaxing Sunday morning and your motivation to acquire my PPL. Thank you again and keep’m coming at us…your videos are wonderful!
If you take anything away from what Josh and Chelsea said, listen to 35:10 - 38:09 everyday until it sinks in...Then do it! Leave it all on the field kids, cuz there is only one game!
Glad you enjoyed Grand Bahama, my home town... Wish I was there while you guys were there.
Happy dog! Awesome to see.
Amazing trip and production. Thank you!
In the 80s, I flew to the Bahamas quite often from Palm Beach always leaving early in the morning. Went through customs at West End. One time went to Green Turtle Cay, a number of times to Walkers Cay. Those were the days. Oh by the way, flying back at night there is much less chance of thunderstorms. What a great video that you produced here you should be proud of yourself. Now learn to SCUBA dive. I highly recommend diving east of the Palm Beach Airport. The current carries you along there are wrecks to see and coral reefs.
Next Time you come to NYC love to catch up with you guys! You're the best and great inspiration.
ALWAYS in the "thinking" mode is exhausting!! Thanks for the ride-along.....and can't wait for your next adventures!! Cherish ALL of life's adventures.
I can imagine how exhausted you can be. Last July I did a similar thing in Europe but much shorter: Luxembourg - Maribor (Slovenia) - Rijeka (Croatia) - Dubrovnik (Croatia) - Tivat (Montenegro) - Portoroz (Slovenia) - Luxembourg. Temperature around 97-100F
This video is a fantastic way to finish an epic series. You and Chelsea are a wonderful couple...a joy to follow. Keep the episodes coming!
Great series. Bonus - Aviation 101 and Angle of Attack episodes in one day. 🇬🇧
What a sweet life you two are experiencing. All it takes is money. And lots of it. Very happy for you two. Oh, and Josh, just so you know, a gentleman would never film his woman walking away. Kinda old school with that.
I have been eagerly waiting for this final episode! Now that it’s over, it’s kinda bitter sweet. I’m sad to see this series go but excited for the next one. Josh, I’d like to personally thank you for the time and effort you put forth to share this experience with us! I really appreciate you and all you do and hope to someday meet you in person! Safe flying! From David Klassen in west Texas.
10:04 - American 1767 was NOT havin it.
What an EPIC and ICONIC journey you have taken us on in the C-172. I love your airplane with all of the upgraded avionics. I love the way you both work together seamlessly in the cockpit. I love your use of standard checklists and callouts. I love the look Chelsea gives you Josh. That girl LOVES you, no doubt. You are a lucky man to have a caring wonderful woman by your side to share your adventures and dreams with. Thanks so much for sharing your video trip with us. AMAZING. Truly spectacular. I can't even imagine the hard work and dedication that goes into all that work. Congratulations, and I SO APPRECIATE you both. Retired C-172 and Diamond DA-40 driver. By the way, my son Ryan carried on the tradition, and is a captain with Spirit Airlines.
PS. Chelsea, my home airport has been Bowman Field in Louisville. I moved here when I was 18 years old to attend college, and have lived in this wonderful city every since.
Well done Josh and Chelsea. That was a great ending. Looking forward to your next adventures. Thanks for taking us along for the ride!!
I flew those exact same places in a 172 SP G1k and there are no words it's just so beautiful and breathtaking. I would recommend any pilot if you have one chance to do this to do it.That is definitely a weird feeling going out over the atlantic for the first time single engine for that 50 mile stretch after departing West palm Beach to another country and the weather constantly changing.I saw that look on both of your faces and I knew the feeling but you keep going for the adventure into the unknown and unexpected. you did a great job its amazing how the airplane has no idea its over water or land its just us thinking about what could go wrong. The moment your were handed off from Miami center and enter bahamas its like a lonely feeling and you realize how fortunate we are back in the US to have such an excellent ATC system looking over us all the time its wordless. We continued down to Normans Cay since there is no ATC its pilotage and skill ,I had a another friend in a Cessna and one in a cirrus we were all giving each other weather reports along the way and keeping close incase something would have happened to one of us and remaining on the same frequency talking to each other. On the return It was dodging rain storms all along the way on the return to Marsh Harbor where we planned our fuel stops. Its so true what you said about enjoying this life and how time goes fast and how life is short and going to these places it is a memory you will never forget its special .Your video was superb. On Your next trip you will need to fly down to the exumas Normans Cay and eat at the famous Macduff's restaurant and see the coral reef .
Your storytelling is amazing and so on point. That outro gave me chills. Thanks for all the hard work and for sharing it with us!
Josh, glad you guys were able to visit my home country and I'm glad you guys enjoyed it!
Classic AA pilot at 10:10
Another stunning video Josh. I am continuously amazed by the beauty you are able to capture through your lenses. Thank you for putting in the extremely hard work to create all these masterpieces. Safe skies my friend 🇺🇸🛩️
Nice toast to Jimmy! Fair winds and following seas…
Awesome playlist, take a break, You deserve it!!
Team Chelson for the win!!! Seriously, great series! Once you get some we’ll deserve rest. I look forward to the many shorts you will do.
Great video, we flew there last December and it was very similar. A quick and fun flight, and they always ask for long landing at Grand Bahama. Marsh Harbor is awesome too, and we had lunch at the same restaurant during our stay. So cool to see those places again. Thank you for a great video.
I’ve been a fan for a long time. This was an epic series. My wife and I did 6 weeks on the road this summer visiting friends and seeing the sights, in celebration of retirement. So I get the long travel experience. I am almost 70 and starting my Instrument training. Hope to see you again at OSH this year.❤😊
I am a Fan of your Channel and really enjoy how you speak your thoughts out loud in a Teaching manner. You speak about weather, your fuel on board and your wise options in advance of it becoming serious situation. I really like and appreciate both you and Chelsea are Pilots. Wishing you both blue skies😊
What an ending! You shared some special times and made great memories with each other and even have the video to remember it by.
Awesome trip guys!!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!!
Loved this episode…I know it’s taxing and tough to make these videos but I appreciate them more than you can imagine. I am stuck in KY in the winter, it’s cold and dark here and I’m dreaming of flying to a warmer destination and wondering if I’ll ever have to courage to fly to the Bahamas. I felt like I was able to escape my reality and dream a little bit along with you guys. You all are a great couple and I wish you the best. Thank you for all of the videos that have taught me so much and thanks for taking me along on your adventures.
Enjoy the water! Would love to see a behind the scenes about your gopro set up and electronic overview if you need a video idea.
Greatest series
Thanks for sharing this wonderful journey!
Your commentary was excellent. I really like your toast to Jimmy Buffett and your ending encouragement to get out and live.
