National City: SWAT Action Caught on Camera 04252204

Someone called the Police, stating that a male who is a wanted felon was in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn threatening people with a sword. Upon arrival, the officers immediately searched and found the suspect, who did not have a sword. The male was wanted on the felony warrant, though.
When they approached him, the suspect ran away and entered a motel room on the 2nd floor. The male barricaded himself inside the room. At one point, officers tried to make him aware of their presence and fired a 40mm projectile at the door and then tried to breach the door, but the door held.
The suspect was considered to be armed and dangerous.
The SWAT Team was called in after 2 hours. The motel was evacuated of its' guest. They made loudspeaker callouts to the suspect but were ignored. Officers then broke the window to the room and threw in tear gas. After approx 10 minutes, the suspect poked his head out the window. Officers kept trying to convince him to surrender. He told them he couldn't get out through the door.
They instructed him to break the remaining glass out of the window and crawl out to surrender. He broke the glass but wouldn't come out. The officers used a different tool to open the door. He walked out 5 minutes later and surrendered to the officers.
